Our bad with the one channel audio, got this one out as quick as possible 😅 Check out our previous news video 2024 Easter Jeep Safari Concept Vehicles ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XE0rSM4xrb4.htmlsi=vXK87hdH4uzMOcdd
Matt, forget about the inline 6 hurricane, the 4cyl inline 4 is also called hurricane so that jeep is just a regular 4xe tricked out with a reprogram to reach 500hp between gas motor and electric…😉
@@lukesworkout2232 Its essentially the same engine architecture/family with 2 more cylinders slapped on. there is blue prints online on how they both share a lot of the design and parts.
10 years ago i bought a 98 xj for 500 bucks, guess what, it still runs like a top, 330 km on it, both kids learned to drive in it. Best 500 bucks i ever spent. Hard to beat the ol 4.0.
The length of the hood is the same in relation to the gap to charging port and offset with the fender positioning. The pic is taken at an angle that makes ppl curious. Its impossible to fit the larger (I6) hurricane into the current gen both length wise and the height wise (need a larger scoop than 392). BTW, the existing 2.0 turbo is also a hurricane engine (same family) so the more plausible thing is that they came up with some minor bump in spec/tuning to the existing 4xe to make it purr out 500 lb ft of torque instead of 470 - and release is as minor update for 2025 refresh
Hood seems to be same as normal. I’m in agreement with another commenter with its a tuned 2.0 and the 500 is a gas electric combo number. I would definitely love to see an actual 3.0 hurricane but I don’t think this is it.
With the electrical glitches in the JL, no way would I get an electric or hybrid Jeep. I do not trust Jeep's electrical engineers. I love my 2 JLURs, but think the electrical design is shameful.
Looks legit to me, since Stellantis is all about the Hurricane inline 6. Wouldn't give up my 392 for one, but would be a great replacement for the V6. I had an inline 6 in my GMC Envoy & it was a great engine.
Ahh the great Vortec 4200 or Atlas engine, 4.2 liters one great engine back in the day, agreed the Hurricane 3.0 would be great upgrade to the Pentastar , and I think it will happen, like the Grenadier has the BMW B58 inline 3.0
Would love to see the inline 6 come to the wrangler and gladiator, but like others said, I’m worried it’s just a high tuned hurricane 4 cylinder. Will keep fingers crossed tho.
An I6 would be great, however the turbos would get extremely hot if you're rock crawling, especially in the summers of Moab, Mojave, Sedona, etc. Having twin turbos and a hybrid power train in those same conditions would definitely add to my concerns. I believe there are going to be some serious reliability issues for us rock crawling folks.
Any news on 2023 Gladiator 15% off expiring 3/31/24? Bigger discount or ?? On the fence with some still around on dealers lots. Keep up the great content!
Going to guess that hurricane 500 will be starting at the same price point as the 392. Though it may be over $100k if they force you to get the 4xe option on it.
I am concerned about the 4Xe part for any jeep - extra space, bulk...weight and lose of inside space...(some) but then how much under the jeep has these "batteries" worried or bulk ect....I love the 4Xe idea and battery charges while gas so you have a very long re.charge option ect...but man....I just am not totally sold on it yet.....
Hey Matt, it seems the voice audio is only coming in on one ear, however the theme tune was both. Just letting you know in case this was a mistake. Love the content!
The hurricane would be a great engine for the wrangler ( the I6 version) because it will give it more power And if they make a HO version it can fill the 392s gap
The diesel on the gladiator is the right setup, might not make 500 horse, but it packs the torque. Those images look like your getting trolled, when did you see a factory option where you could order a little tiny wheel with that much rubber on it, the Rubicon stock is 17s and 33s, those look like about 14s and getting in 40s, being double wide also so your wheels would need a lot of offset/backspacing
Yes, dude. I was waiting for the 510 horsepower for since 2017 I have AJ. K last JK and I don't wanna deal with any. One of them that came out with the last five years, just waiting for the five hundred ten horsepower for the forty inch tire
@@mikesters3532 We currently have A LOT of issues with the 3.0TT from melted cats, stuck closed thermostats causing the engines to overheat, to blown up motors having to pull bodys off frames to replace. Maybe in a few years they wont be so fragile motors but at this point I wouldn't dare want one in my garage.
Picture this: a non-turbo Hurricane bored out from 3.0 to 4.0. Should be good for at least 300hp and at least 300lb-ft of low RPM torque, and way more reliable/less complicated than the Hurricane. Call it the Storm. Remember when Jeep offered a nearly bulletproof inline 4.0L? Good times.
When determining if a Jeep is a RH drive or not, look at the windshield wipers and how they flow. The flat edge for a RH will be to the right side of the car, and of course the opposite for LH drive. It is so it clears the most for the driver. That white one from Africa was RH drive. : )
I'm a little confused on the hurricane 4XE. If the hurricane motor itself is 500 horsepower and then you add the hybrid system to it wouldn't it be more HP? Kind of like the 2.0 t Wrangler plus the hybrid system comes out to 375/470 I believe
You do know there is a 420hp standard output 3.0 hurricane right? And there's 2 variants with 500+ hp So it stands to reason its the 420hp version paired with the 4xE hybrid system bringing it to 500hp
Totally forgot about the 2.0 hurricane engine. Maybe that’s the 2025 refresh of the 4XE, if so could the 2028 wrangler have an EV option? Maybe the one based on EJS concept Magneto or something?
Like others said the base hurricane inline 6 400hp paired with the 4xe electric =~500hp. They need this for the 4xe gladiator to tow. So introduce first in the JL. Base 4xe with the 2.0 and lower the price, then provide this as an upgraded model to replace the 392.
I checked out a 392 at a local dealer, and up here in Canada 135 grand!! I was actually checking into a Rubicon X ... They had the exact! one that I "built and Priced" on the Jeep website, 85 GRAND! So i can't imagine what this 392 Final Edition would cost up here. Thinking I'll stick to my thought of "Paid off sounds way better then Brand New." ... That said! I want a Hurricane Motor! I want to put it in my XJ! But I can do without the turbos... I know nothing of Turbos. So how would they do in dusty environments? But if Jeep brought back the XJ Styling and put a Hurricane in it... Maybe I wouldn't mind new! ... Probably not, once I walked up and saw the price. But something (a design) with a proper Jeep grille. Anything that isn't a Wrangler has an Ugly grille.... I personally like the new grille on the wranglers. But XJ Styling (design), a Hurricane, OOOOH YAAAA! ... Jeep Recon!? Getting there, still the ugly grille and sorry I want a petrol engine.
On the hurricane model, it's possible they used the 4 cyl. plus an electric motor (A-la hornet). Honestly i think the 4 cylinder (2.0l_ Not sure of the R/T One) is based on the hurricane design with 2 cylinders lopped off. Me personally i think the 2.0L alone (no motor) will be fine in a Jeep type setup, especially the shortened low option one they showed this year
I really like the idea but you said it… turbos, inter coolers, 4xe, batteries… I would say no but a 500HP Gladiator sounds delicious! Nothing will ever beat the 4.0L Keep up the Incredible work!!👍
I'm a Jeep loyalist... But after 4 cams, lifters and rockers in my gladiator, I want this thing gone bad... I can't believe the 392 isn't in it yet. What the hell are they waiting for.
The Hurricane 6 has an aluminum block with spray on iron liners. How many car makers still have trouble with peeling paint and you expect me to like a spray on cylinder liner? This will probably be the first bad in line six in history.
Jeep needs to replace the Pentastar V6 with a couple versions of the Hurricane 6 engines. Possibly a single turbo version making 350 HP and 340-360 lb/ft of torque. This would be a big improvement over the Pentastar V6 and greatly needed in the Gladiator to improve hauling and towing. And then there could be a higher performance version in the upper 400-500 HP range. They already have the Hurricane 4 turbo as an option, and can keep that too. I know the Hurricane 6 already comes with two performance levels with the twin turbo, but the base is 425 HP and a single turbo making less HP and better mpg would fit nicely between the Hurricane 4 turbo and the twin turbo 6. As far as hybrids, I think it makes much more sense to develop hybrids over full EVs, but the battery technology needs to still catch up before it goes into every car/truck being made. There are two many battery fires and explosions happening and recycling the batteries are a complete nightmare and cost too much to actually do and still make a good profit. But the automotive industry needs to be working on hybrids to work out some of the issues and get people more used to electric vehicles. And hybrids make great sense in urban areas. You can use the electric to run around town and not cause as much pollution in crowded cities (not worried about the man made global warming myth, just cleaner air) and use the ICE when driving on longer trips. Why in the world the Biden administration pushed for straight EVs so soon is beyond reason, but then again, a lot that Biden does is too. We should be developing hybrids with more fuel efficient ICEs for the next 10 years or so. By then, there should be a lot more new battery technology developed that is safer and easier to recycle/dispose of. Only then should there be a push to go completely EV. And yes, all electric vehicles will probably be the norm by the 2040-50s. Things change and technology advances on, it is only a matter of time before the ICE is a thing of the past. But before we shelve the ICE we need to make sure we have a reliable, safe, and substantial replacement for it. Sorry for the sidetrack on hybrids and EVs, but it does tie into the news about the Jeep.
Though the 3.0 I6 hurricane would be bad ass, it’s 1 inch longer than the 392 (which would explain the longer Hood theory, if it actually is)… The 2.0 four-cylinder is also called the hurricane, so I wonder if it’s tuned and combined 500 hp four-cylinder ?
Everything i can find indicates that the i6 hurricane will be an option in every 2025 wrangler trim but in 2 different configurations. 1 will be the normal i6 and the other the tuned i6. I cant confirm this 100 percent, so if anyone can please let me know.
I'm looking at buying a new car. I'm stuck between.. Jeep Landrover defender Ineos grenadier Toyota 4runner. I would like to get a jeep but I'm worried about the many reliability issues with jeep. I hope this new power plant is a step in the right direction to sorting out the many reliability problems jeeps have.
I have expected Jeep would put the turbo 6 in the wrangler to replace the v8. That being said as great as the turbo v6 is (I owned a grand wagoneer L for a while) the fuel economy is horrible and engine also requires high test. For me part of the draw to the 4xe is the turbo 4 can develop a lot more power, several with Alfa’s are 400HP or so…. Great to see jeep tune this combo in the 4xe…
Always appreciate your content. One suggestion, don't publish with channel specific audio. This video your voice was only in the left channel, which makes single headphone listening very difficult. EDIT: Just saw you post about the audio. All good.
I’m still in Moab and have seen 2 or 3 Wranglers with different iterations of “Hurricane” on the hood. Not sure it means anything, yet. The corporate Jeep guys have been tight-lipped, but they didn’t deny either the Hurricane or some version of the 4xe coming in the Gladiator. Everytime someone else does something interesting (e.g., Ranger Raptor), they seem willing to fight back. The clearly know they have to take the Gladiator up a notch if they want to continue selling them. I thought it was interesting that you can now get Accuair on a Jeep with a factory warranty. Lots of interesting concepts around. Inflation has killed Jeep pricing, but let’s hope they at least keep them interesting if they’re going to be so expensive. For all the anti-EV folks, I ran 4 trails (including Hells Revenge today) in my Wrangler 4xe and it as flawless. The belly weight is noticeable, but battery-only climbing is excellent. There were several other 4xes out there that i saw. All the folks driving them were happy (those I spoke with, obviously) and didn’t seem to have any different a Moab experience for being in an PHEV than anyone else. Several folks I spoke to on the trails were actually ready to put down money on a Gladiator with the new Ramcharger powertrain. I think if Jeep does something like that, they will have a winner.
It's too late. Most of the bay area moved up to the foothills in 2021. The traffic up here now is horrible with speeding and complete idiot driving, and they give you the bird if you honk at them cutting you off for no reason. They brought their shitty attitudes ,bad driving, Teslas and traffic up to my once quiet foothills. Bay area people suck! BTW buy a used JL and drop in a hemi. Way cheaper than a new one. Plus ck out all the recalls on the new Jeeps. I have an 08 Jk thats built for the rocks, too much invested to buy a new Jeep. I'm looking to drop in a 5.7 vvt hemi or the new hurricane. Much cheaper than building up a new Jeep. I've had a Jeep since 1979, Flat fender, CJ'S but the JK, JL are the best wheelers, coil sprung is way better than leaf springs. Better articulation on the trail. When you move up- leave the bay area attitude behind please!
It is going to be tough for auto manufacturers to meet the mandated fed ZEV rules, so Jeep has to make changes sooner than later. I would rather have a PHEV then a BEV. Hopefully, the Gladiator 4xe will come out one of these days and it will be well done.
Not only that, it's sitting on the Xtreme Recon pkg. with an AEV bumper and wheels. Someone high up getting a very custom Jeep built to cruise around in🤔🤫
I am SO hoping they bring the 3.0 I-6 into the JL. I can't quite swing a 392 so the only other engine that would make me move out of our diesel would be that I-6.
i think they should sell the gladiator every other year... sales say its going the way of the dodo bird.... guys who get them will see resales go up in the coming years..
Honestly, I think they are more likely to option out a RAM REV engine/system into a Gladiator. It makes more sense. Not sure if this is next level trolling by someone.
I bought a ‘23 Wagoneer and a ‘23 Gladiator 2 days apart in September; I like my hurricane engine in my Wagoneer. I’ve been wondering if it would be an option for a gladiator, I’d love to have it.
