I had Jeeps for 20 years. Last year I ordered a 24 Willys two door manual and after 20 weeks at confirmed I moved on and bought a 23 Defender 90. I have no regrets canceling the Jeep order and doubt I’ll ever go back the way they are going with the electric models. Its also nice not driving a me too car, in 9 months I’ve only ever seen four other Defender 90’s on the road and I no longer have people leaving stupid ducks on my car.

Here's my story. I've been searching for months to buy a 3rd vehicle for the house. I really wanted to do a second gladiator even though I already own a fully loaded rubicon gladiator and rubicon wrangler. I was seriously shopping the gladiator against the 4runner, tacoma, ford bronco and finally the Chevy colorado. I ended up springing for the Colorado ZR2 Bison which is a colorado built by AEV. For $62k I could get a vehicle with steel bumpers, bead lock rims, 4.5" lift, 35" tires, etc etc etc all with a warranty. There is nothing that compares to that trim level of Colorado. It has cameras all around including underneath, larger screen size (probably comparable to the 24 Jeep screen), locking diffs, etc etc. It even has blind spot monitoring, cross lane detection, adaptive cruise control, backup sensors, etc. All the stuff anyone would want for the urban environment. Jeep can't match that price. They're not even close. I have an appointment that I'm waiting on for them to install the winch and snorkel and for $66k total I have a full decked out offroad vehicle with everything. Believe it or not, my '23 Gladiator cost more last year than the Colorado Bison did this year. So Jeep needs to up their game on the pricing. I still believe in and support Jeep and I absolutely love the brand but I am never going to be a wagoneer owner or some little putt putt Italian jeep owner. I want a wrangler or a gladiator but it has to be my way and goodness sakes if anyone from Jeep is watching stop with the special colors only available for a month shtick.

Jeep prices have gotten ridiculous. When you’re getting into the $70k+ range it opens up a much larger market of “off road” vehicles that you can get for that money (grenadier, lexus gx, Land Rover defender not to mention the bronco or Toyota refreshes). All that being said I bought a 23 gladiator recently for the huge discounts and love it

@dnrexy I think it was just good timing for me. There were a bunch of instant rebates for electric vehicles when I went shopping. I was really close to getting a 2023 Grand Cherokee 4xe due to those rebates + needing to clear the lot of older models. When I saw that, I immediately looked for a 2023 Wrangler 4xe in "my" color thinking they'd have a similar deal. Since Wrangler's are special, they weren't running the same discounts. I just got really lucky the deals were on a 2024. If you haven’t already, run Car Finder. That way you at least have some number to fight with

Like everyone here is saying… the prices are just too high for a Jeep! 4xEs are taking over dealer lots! Especially here in New England. And for only 25ish miles on a charge, it doesn’t seem worth the $55k-60k price tag! And It’s not easy to find a non hybrid Jeep Wrangler around here either. And they’re still over priced. As far as gladiators. A cool idea sure, but for the price… I don’t think so. I see some discounted ones up here. But honestly, the discount price, should be the MSRP!!!

My 22 Gladiator thankfully is a lease and i cant wait to get rid of it. 1st check engine light came on around 800 miles for multiple misfires. That continued to happen for several months off and on. At 17k miles the ridiculous start/stop left me stranded at a stoplight . It had to have a new fuse block/harness, It took 8 weeks to get it back from the shop. Im at 27k miles and i just noticed all of the paint bubbling on the edge of the hood. My Gladiator was overpriced and low quality, it is my 1st and last jeep.

Sir it’s across the board for almost the entire car market. I visited a few dealers recently and the only one that actually had customers buying; was Mazda. So I went in and found out they had 0% for five years or 3.9 financing for 72 months. Also no mark ups and courtesy window tinting plus they were not forcing people to buy protection packages. The CX 50 and C5 was the model selling the most; I mean even the basic model included AWD with LED lights and on the inside soft touch material and the interior space was good; very utilitarian vehicle overall and well priced. This dealership is new in our town and I got to say; I have seen an increase of Mazda’s on the road.

Just my take -- probably because I'm 6'6" tall and 270 pounds -- but I'm probably going to be buried in my 2019 JLU Rubicon 2.0 Etorque, which now has 50k trouble-free (knock on wood) miles on it. I paid $43,000 for it in June of '20, and it came with 35" KO2s, the beefed up tire-carrier, MOPAR lift, and other dealer-installed goodies. It since has been regeared to 4.88, been fitted with KM3 37s, and has a Rhino Pioneer platform, WARN winch, and it's been all over Colorado and Utah. Still gets 21 mpg on the highway cruising at 65 (It's a Jeep, not a 'Vette). To pay almost twice that for the current models (which have even smaller interior cabin space owing to reconfigured soundbar, taller seats and curtain airbags) seems absolutely nuts to me. Clearly I'm not Stellantis' ideal customer, notwithstanding that Dutch people are among the tallest in the world, on average. Why they keep making Jeep interiors smaller and more cramped is anybody's guess. And the prices are giggle-worthy: Europeans (prolly because of crazy luxury taxes and import duties) regard Jeeps as "luxury vehicles" for the crazy rich, and that's reflected in the stupid pricing. A "readjusted" attitude (and pricing structure) is way overdue.

Hemi v8s and a hybrid that pumps near 400 horsepower is lackluster? I own a rubicon eco diesel on 37s and the torque is enough tear up asphalt. If they make engines with more power then they'll be even more expensive than they are now. And im all for having high performance jeeps from the factory but we need prices to go down so we need cheaper reliable powertrains too. Thats where the 3.6 fits in and honestly 285 hp isnt lackluster either. We just live in a world where people want more. How about buying the 3-liter 6 diesel and the 10-speed Allison from GM, and make them available for Wranglers, and Gladiators. Jeeps used GM running gear in the past. I also think that the prices are too high. Does anyone know why Jeep doesn't offer new Jeeps without all the tech? I want to go on trails with a jeep. I want to get muddy and grimey, and I want to do it all without the doors or top on the jeep. However, new jeeps have speakers built around the roll cage and a TV on the dash. They also have a number of other technologies, that probably are going to get borked when they get mud and water in them. Those features would be great for a minivan, or options as upgrades for people who want them. But who wants a jeep to go do jeep things, and wants all that fragile tech? I would love a CJ model, but I don't want to bork a CJ, and also can't tell if one just has a nice paint job and big tires, but a transmission that's about to give out.

That screen shot is from Reed Jeep. My experience was in the KC area, but I don't know if they're in other markets. I went there when I was trying to buy a Gladiator and there was a lot of fine print. You had to have a 2017 or newer Jeep to trade in with less than 75k miles, had to be active duty or a veteran, had to live in certain zip codes, had to finance a certain amount, etc. I went to several dealers in the area and their advertisements were all a similar scam. One said you had to have a specific year Prius to trade in. I also have Reed ads for 25k off of a new 4xe in my FB feed.

What the heck is going on with color options. High Velocity..... GONE Bikini..... GONE Pumpkin.... GONE Tuscadero...GONE Reign...Gone All the fun colors have been replaced by earth tones. I have a bright fun personality and want to show that with fun colors. I need purple reign or harbor blue in 2025! So with Tuscadero missing from the 392 final edition does that mean the 392 order banks are alao closed?

These vehicles aren't selling as well and now have incentives on them (especially on the JT) simply because they are SO overpriced. Add to that the current higher interest rates and many of Jeeps core enthusiasts just can't afford them anymore. The ridiculous price they put on that stupid MOPAR Edition JT shows just how out of touch the Jeep execs are. I mean... how did that conversation go? "Hey, JT's aren't selling well... what can we do? I KNOW... let's throw $100 worth of decals on it and put some nice $300 aftermarket seat covers in it and jack the price up by $25k!!!" F'kin morons. Another thing hurting sales is some of the quality issue that these things have - like CORROSION on the hinges and door seams that they STILL haven't fixed, the RIDICULOUS aux. battery fiasco (it dies every two years - and they put it WHERE?!?!), and common Pentastar issues like leaky oil filter housings and the STILL not completely resolved rocker bearing failures! If they're going to command a premium price, they need to produce a premium product... and they simply aren't. I didn't realize when I bought my JT, I was actually buying TWO Jeep products... my first and my LAST. As much as I enjoy mine, I will be getting rid of it before the warranty expires (at a significant financial loss) and will not be buying another. You mentioned that a lot of people justify paying the ridiculous prices for JL/JT's "because they hold their value so well". I was one of those people - bought my JT at the height of the market in late 2022 - even thought I got a good deal since I was able to get mine slightly below MSRP because the company I work for is a Stellantis affiliate. Now, not even two years later, my 20k-mile JT is worth nearly $15k less than I paid for it. People who paid markups over MSRP are in even worse shape!

As of right now (July 27, 2024) you can go on the jeep website and build a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X and the XR isn’t even an option on the listing, neither is the automatic transmission version. It only offers manual transmission. Unsure if this is an error on Jeep’s part, but I found that odd. The 315 tire ratio isn’t an option it seems and it shows on the mock up model that it’s the 285 tire version. So I’m guessing maybe this is because you can’t order anymore 2024s, but if you go to the “current inventory” around the nation, they show it with the XR package. So I dunno

They are way overpriced. I have a loaded 23 Rubicon like actually loaded not how people put leather seats and a painted top and say it’s loaded like it’s got all the packages. There is absolutely no way it’s a $75,000 truck. That’s what the MSRP was on my truck at the end of 2023 model year, luckily I bought it through Gupton in Tennessee and I paid 60,000 for it. It’s still not a $60,000 truck for 60,000 bucks, This thing should have all the packages so we essentially all the Rubicon X stuff the new hurricane motors, preferably the high output and an extreme recon package with the 35s from the factory, and even I’m not convinced it’s a $60,000 truck. The Ranger raptor and GMC Canyon AT4X are significantly better buys.

Do you know what it is? Jeep has to be more careful with the kind of products they put out there. In 2020 I bought a JT Rubicon my favorite vehicle ever, EVER, E-V-E-R (screening) and with only 65,000 miles the engine suffered the infamous ticking that developed into damaged intake cam, lifters and rocker arms on the passenger side due to oil starvation. I lost all confidence in their product and decided to get rid of MY FAVORITE VEHICLE EVER. Thanks for nothing. I call it the perfect designed and the poorest execution. I bought a GMC Denali and still think about theJeep. It felt like a punch to the gut that still hurts, felt like I lost a family member, that is how much I was attached to my Jeep, I was so proud of owning a vehicle of such heritage a vehicle that I am sure my military dad RIP would have loved. For him Jeep was a war hero too, I inherited his 64 Jeep Willys Pickup truck and for him my tag was WW2ICON but FCA failed me miserably.😞

What's up are the ridiculous prices, and they're still trying to resolve issues with the wrangler starting back in 2018. Cheap parts, poor quality, unsatisfactory repairs, etc. The list goes on, and yet they still expect people to keep buying their product.

The interest rates are not helping. With excellent credit the best I could do was a 8% loan. That insane! Thats adding an extra $5-10k of interest on top of the purchase price of most jeeps, not to mention, sales tax, gap insurance, and all of the other BS fees and add ons they manage to slip in there. FUN FACT: The average age of cars in the US just hit a record high of 14 YEARS OLD. Something isnt right...car prices, the economy, interest rates, home prices, inflation, groceries, etc...affording even the base model wrangler is a stretch for middle class Americans.

Everything is too expensive, Jeep included. As others have said, Jeep prices are crazy. As a Jeep owner all of my life, I don't want a 4xe, and I don't want a four cylinder turbo either. Give me the Hurricane straight six or even the current 3.6 V6. As I look at what Stellantis is doing, they are replacing leadership of Jeep and Dodge with European leadership. That is fine, but realize we don't want the stuff the Europeans want. Just look at the Dodge Hornet, and see how well that is selling. Jeep is not small European cars with a Jeep badge and all wheel drive or front wheel drive. Jeeps are rugged and capable vehicles that can truly be used off-road. We ordered my wife a new Grand Cherokee and the Limited no longer comes with a low range transfer case. If she hadn't wanted the new GC so bad, I would have walked away (her 2014 had low range). Jeep, get back to being Jeep.

91, 99 and 13 wrangler buyer. I absolutely will not buy a 4th Wrangler until they get their head on straight. I'm going to drive my 13 to the ground. If nothing changes then I'm going to buy a Yukon type vehicle. More towing power, nicer interior, bigger interior and a better ride. Land Cruiser maybe? IDK, but might not be a massively overpriced Jeep.

"Whats up with the jeep market". You can literally make this title for pretty much every manufacturer. Prices are too high plain n simple. Almost every manufacturer is seeing a decline in sales. And on top of that dealers have massive markups over msrp. On top of this gas prices are extremely high still and instead of buying jeeps people are going for subarus who havent marked up their prices by much get decent enough mpgs and are still more than capable enough for 95% of drivers. I bought a gladiator... i love my gladiator but I only bought it over the competition because gladiators unlike wranglers are actually priced on par with the midsized truck market. Wranglers are priced way higher than ur average midsized SUV

I have a 2020 JLU Sport. I honestly love it but will never buy another one. My paint is bubbling around all of the hinges and the hood. I’ve had a warranty claim in since November 2023. The hood and drivers door are on back order with no eta. The dealership told me it might be another year. I was considering a 2024 till this issue popped up. Stellantis is well aware of this epidemic with the paint but simply refuses to openly admit it. Looks like a new Bronco is next.

Jeep, like Toyota and other dealers are charging way too much money for vehicles that, in reality don’t demand the high prices. All of these companies have priced themselves out of the market. Unless they change their pricing they will continue to loose money.
