I started out really liking Stihl best, but the more I used a Husky, the more I liked them. Now I have more Husky than Stihl. I really appreciate how smooth/low vibe the Huskies run and they're built really sturdy, metal handle bar and all, even on thier "pro" 50cc saws. The often maligned primer bulb is also occassionaly useful on empty, cold, or even some really hot starts. The weights of Huskies also balance well with optimal length bars for given displacements.
I love my 550 xp that I keep in my Jeep with a 16" solid Japanese bar on it, which is perfect for clearing the kinds of trees that I run into across the logging roads here in West Central Oregon. I've also run an 18" and 20" bar on it cutting large oak trees and it still had plenty of power.
You guys make me feel old! My largest saw is the 562 and it is about as big a saw as I want to use. At 83 it is perfect for cutting 4-5 hours a day. Anything heavier would destroy me! Just finished cutting a log load for my neighbor who got sick and needed to fill his wood racks. The 562 did a great job. As usual, a fun video to start the day. Stay safe - Dud
Awesome Saw. I bought my 562Xp this spring and glad I did. Much faster than my 460 Rancher. And like you said, perfect saw for a guy cutting 10-15 cords for himself every year. Keep up the great content! Always good to see Kenny. GNI!
That 562 xp been out for over 12 Years I bought one the frist year ever out still running strong. I've cut so much wood with it still running strong. That saw made me a 500 series fan now have lots of 500 series saws. I run a 28 inch bar on my so I don't have bend over as much .
I bought one a few weeks back and I love it. Got a 24 and 28 bar for it and put a full wrap handle on it and it’s an awesome saw. I live in NC and a full wrap is not the norm around here. I just use it around the farm and it’s been solid from day one. I have been a Husqvarna guy for years. Only Stihl that I own is my weed eater. Great machine but I love my orange saws. I bought an old 51 about 10 years ago and it’s still a beast. That sold me and I will probably be and “Orange Man” till I run out of gas😉. Much love to you all. Be careful and be blessed 🤙🤙
@@InTheWoodyard I’m a Buckin Billy Ray fan and he really talked the saw up and I do a good bit of business at my local saw shop and he had one that he gave me a heck of a deal. I got a 24 and 28 bar for it. At 53and with a trashed lower back, that 28 makes it nice for bucking. I haven’t been disappointed with it. I got it with the 24 for 700 out the door. I couldn’t say no and glad I got it. You fellas be careful ( my mom’s good jinx 😉) and have a great day.
562xp is my go to saw. Put wrap bars on it and a 28" Husky light bar and it makes a great limbing saw. I know you guys like your short bars, but believe me for limbing, the long bar is the only way to go. Use it to clear the down trees that fall across the road and on the property. Have used it to fell but normally step up to the 572xp and 32" for felling.
Beautiful saw! I bought a Husqy 272 XP when they first came out and this is the saw I use 90% of the time to cut 10-15 cords of firewood every year. The 562 may be my new saw next Spring to accommodate my 65 year old back. Great demo on the saw!
I have 3 Stihl saws and I gotta say I've never adjusted any carbs and only one coil pack in 20 years since I bought my 441 not one more dime spent on repairs
@@jamesnelson9482 those are on the list .I personally am hearing impaired and the stihl brand really seems forgiving in terms of higher rpm range and takeoff
And stihl is very pricey most husky dealers will cut you a deal off retail also. I have both brands with that being said. The 562 is above and beyond the 362 but I prefer the 462 over the 572.
When I was younger saw weight didn't matter but now that I'm getting up there I've come to appreciate a 50-60cc saw for the majority of my work. I use a Jonsered 2253 for almost all my work now. Still got the big saw just in case but not much in New England I really need it for anymore. When you said "just gettin it" if figured you weren't a flatlander and sure enough.
I use to think the ms261 was the best all around saw for firewood until I purchased the 562. Not only great for firewood but also great for small tree jobs. Especially day jobs. Both great saws though.
I run/operate a small logging company and I am not a fan of the 562xp They run great and never had a issue of being underpowered even with a 24 inch bar. Their durability doesn't last for professional grade timber felling. I've had a total of 5, none of them lasted longer than 8 months. We did preventative maintenance of cleaning air filters, running non ethanol premium gasoline. My options are the 372 and 572 and better options for durability.
I have two 562xp's and a 572xp. When starting... choke it and one you get the first "pop" and it fires, push the red switch all the way down as if you are shutting it off and let the spring in the switch return itself to the run position. This puts it in high idle mode and helps it start/warm up on cold days. Keep in mind that you can't do this with your chain brake on as it will burn up the clutch from higher revs and try to engage the centripetal clutch that drives the sprocket. Hope that helps some.
Just a couple of guys who cut wood. And happen to be self made RU-vid celebrities. I've had a 562xp for 5 years. It's my favorite saw. Its awesome for limbing and light cutting, with 20" bar. I do heavy cutting with a 372xp and sometimes I run the old 288xp. 562xp is very fuel efficient compared to the others.
Still have my old 455 rancher but upgraded to the 562xp 5 years ago. Had an issue early with computer losing programming(?). Don't like to start hot in hot weather. But once I learned ways around it's a beast with a 20 inch bar and dremel-sharpened chain😉
I got the 562 because I could cover such a nice range of bar lengths. I have no issues from 20-28 inch felling or bucking. And some days it is nice to be able to stand up and buck!
🤘I had just rewatched your video about growing slowly and not spending all your money on equipment you dont need yet. Then you release this video on the saw I've been wanting to buy! You're testing my willpower...
Also something I’ve learned with these saws, if you’ve loosened the nuts completely rather than re threading them to dis engage the brake, push the clutch cover with your right hand towards the top of the cover close to the brake, use your left hand to pull back on the brake and it’ll dis engage it
Love my Husqvarna , 372xp,and 572xp…think that will do me for almost anything I do ..anything up to 4 footers…those I don’t like for firewood, way too much like work..been looking at a 562 xp on sale for $950 which makes it pretty tempting ..that is Canadian funds ..enjoy your videos ..cheers from British Columbia
Hey Kenny great to see you cutting when it isn t below zero. Really like the looks of how that 562 runs and cuts. Now let Chris sharpen it and it will be a real wood beast.
The bar lock thing happened to me as well. On my 460 Rancher I was able to get the cover off finally however it would not go back on. I finally found a RU-vid video that showed how to reset the spring on the cover so it would go back together. That looks like a great size saw.
Hi Chris, thank you so much for making that video. Really great demonstration. I have been trying to decide between the Stihl MS362 and the Husky 562. I was always leaning towards the Husky as my current saw is a small 435 (40cc) and I want to trade up, but not go too big. Your video has convinced me, the Husky it is and with a 20 inch bar. All the best, Phil, Snowdonia, North Wales, UK.
Husqvarna 562XP's are my favorite cutting saw of all time. I've been a professional hand cutter for 34 yrs. and I have owned 7 of then over the last 10 years. They ALL blew up prematurely. the last one that I owned was 2 years ago, it had only 239 hours on it. The warranty was for 6 months and it blew up shortly after it.
For years I ran a 3120 Jungle and a 562, which nothing in the middle. Feel like the 562 punches above it’s weight. Now, I’ve thrown in a 592 and a 576 (fully reworked by Steve’s Saw Shop in Lolo, MT). That ported 576 has become my grab n’ go saw for most stuff. Think the arsenal is full for a bit.
One of the many things I have learned from the Chickanic channel (she really knows her stuff) is instead of pulling the rope fully to start a small engine 2-3-4 times, pull the rope to just pull off 1-2-3 single compressions at a time and then you will see how much more easily the engine will start. This is particularly helpful to save the senior elbows/shoulders. Nice little saw.
I have 7 huskys. My latest acquisition are the 572XP and 550xp mk2. I converted my 550 to 3/8 chain, 20" bar, and it rips. I have a video out of the conversion. Really enjoyed meeting you guys at the livestream. See. you next year - Dick
What gauge 3/8? I converted my 550xp to 3/8-.050 and it stinks, actually it’s worthless and a 18” bar…hard to believe yours is doing anything with a 20” on it.
@@njonebale7889 I did a video on the conversion. Check it out. The times were close with the .325 being a bit faster. I’ve redone that experiment and found there is virtually no difference. Im going to do a video comparing the 550 and 572 in a week or so. You can see it cutting. When you converted yours did you change the sprocket and bar both? That’s necessary… I assume you did.
it's an external clutch. yes disengage the break first! been running 562 since they came out 10+years ago. nice new air filter. the switch rules. you don't need to flip it down. just touch the throttle. easy peasy. pulls a 28' skip no problem
Yep my auto tune saw did the same thing the first time I took the chain off to clean it had the brake on and I was able to get the cover off but then couldn't get it back on! Had to reset the spring with a screwdriver it was a pain in the ass but now it's so easy just make sure the brake is off!
Holy Smokes..... I got the book out and looked it up!! Now that's a woodchuckin man right there!!! When we're looking at the directions we are 1 step from desperation!!
I also have a 562XP. I bought it new, the carb went wonky, replaced under warranty. Saw runs and cuts excellent. Great 60cc saw. The 462 is for bigger stuff.
At first start, you need to wait for 30 seconds for engine adjustment. Electronic carburetors measures altitude and adjust gas-air mixtures. You dont need to stay in front of the chain. The chain can unseat and may injure. The another point is adjustment of chain. It seems chain is so tight and engine has a bumpy ride. At first run, you should lubricate the chain for blade rubbing until coming chain oil. Husky 560s are excellent chainsaw. Enjoy it.
Hi Ken , nice saw ! The 562 also has the large mount bar that will interchange with the rest of the fleet . The 550 has the small mount bar . Good choice . 😀
Weekend warrier, but love my 562XP w/28" bar no skip. Though I have a 20" bar as well, i find myself grabbing the 450 (pre rancher) w/20 bar, .325 that I'm still loving, plenty of power driving full chain, whether Maple, Beech, Ash, Cherry or Pine.
Chris - not sure if all the xp models start the same way, but I made the mistake of using the decompression to start my 562xp when it was hot. I had to let the saw cool down and then do the cold start procedure - I had to watch a YT video to figure out what I did wrong and why my saw would not restart - Now that I know how to properly restart the saw, I love cutting with it and my Stihl MS291 doesn’t see the light of day - I knew you had an issue with the brake - ask me how I know - enjoy the journey - cheers
If you put the choke on and then tap it lightly down it will slightly It holds a high idle so you don’t have to hold the throttle when starting And then when you pull the throttle it’ll go back to normal. I love my 562! I just milled some oak with it!
Always a good day when a new saw shows up in the woodyard! I’d like to see how a echo 620 would compare with that 562. I’d bet they would be real close.
I enjoy my 562XP...my smallest saw with full wrap handle & dual dogs... Northwest setup not bad in smaller timber...like your video take care...Shoe Ps....seen 562xp...since 2012...first in the 500 series....first ones were troublesome...now there a pretty good saw.
I’ve had my 562xp since 2014 . I make 16-18 cords a year and it has given very little trouble. Oil pump warm gear is out right now, just waiting on parts. The air cleaner system on your new saw looks much nicer than the earlier ones like mine. Good luck with it I’m sure your going to love it!
400cm fits right in between the 572xp and 562xp. Even though I've come to like Huskies better, the 400cm might be the saw I'd keep if I could have only one for most everything. If not a 400cm, the the 572xp. Not much you cant do with a 70cc saw! So many great saws!!!
I've had a 562 for about 2 months now. I probably should of gone up to a 572. Something's the 562 does well, it has more rpm than torque. Dry hardwood needs more torque and I need to get some bigger felling spikes. But I like the little saw Put some beeswax on the chain tensioner thread. It keeps the the chain from getting to loose/fast
Somebody was changing out the seals and bearings on a hard used saw. There was 3 balls left and the computer was adding enough fuel to keep the massive air leak from burning up.
I love my husky 560xp saw cuts awesome and way faster then my 45cc saw. I put a 24” bar on mine as I’m just started doing fire wood and getting big trees. Love your videos Chris keep it up!
I converted my little 18” bar 550 xp to run the 3/8- .050 chain like my bigger saws so I didn’t have to go out to buy those little stock chains…only problem is the puny saw bogs down as soon as it hits the wood…I’ll chain the sprocket and bar back to stock if anyone wants to buy the tiny, puny little thing.
I did the same with my 562 so I’m watching you and saying it’s the chain brake😂😂 great saw. I don’t have a bigger saw but I cut some big Aussie hardwood with it and it never lets me down. Touch wood lol
That is about my favorite size saw. I have bigger too but my back can't take lugging the heavier saws around more then I have to. As long as its a pro saw something in the 50-60cc range is perfect. Especially for a homeowner just cutting their own wood but its fine too if you are selling wood. I would rather my back not hurt so bad I can't walk or standup for 2 days then the little extra wood I would get cut with my bigger saws. Actually the other day I used one of my top handle saws lol. Its an Echo 335t think the model is. My back was hurting so bad from a couple days earlier when I took all the trees down and bucked up 2 of the hard maples I figured I would get out a small saw the next time around. 2 of the trees I cutup with it were pretty good sized ash and that top handle has a 14 inch bar and I could stand up after lol. There was a couple really hard beech too. Haven't split beech in a while man is it stringy. Unless its just the 2 trees I can't remember it being this hard on my splitter running it through.
@@InTheWoodyard I haven't ran that top handle Echo in probably 3 years. It was screaming. I def cut some stuff that it wasn't meant for lol. The 2 ash were probably 24 inch or so diameter and real good and dead. Didn't hardly use any fuel or bar oil either. Had no business with that little thing doing what I did lol. I have one new saw I haven't even used yet I need to try. I bought it 3 years ago. I think its a GZ360 think that is the model but its a RedMax. Husqvarna sells the same saw not sure what the model is only difference is one is orange one is red but its a rear handle version of a Husqvarna top handle saw. Figured it would be really nice to have a light saw like that for limbing and when I don't need a 60-80cc saw. It just pissed me off so much when the screw was snapped off for the oiler brand new in the box, I go to the Husqvarna dealer about warranty and he gave me a hard time telling me I should have bought it from him. So I ended up buying a new oiler. That is actually how I ended up with the Echo. I dropped it off at my local small engine shop to have him install the oiler I could have but he only hit me for $15 to do it. When I go to pick the new RedMax back up he asked if I wanted the Echo. Somebody had dropped it off a year or more earlier and never came back. So he charged me $40 for the saw which was what the invoice was. So I got a $350 or so top handle saw for $40 so I guess I made out alright
Forgot to mention yesterday All the 5 series have greaseable needle bearing. Meaning on the clutch in the middle you’ll see a tiny hole Take your bar tip grease gun and shoot it in there So easy And lots of 5 series have been around since 2013 or so My 562 was a 2014 model
they hold heat badly all of them do a lot of guys trim back top cover over exhaust gut muffler add frogskin vents on rear of cover to prevent hot start issues I have done these mods on my newer 550 xp mark ii made a huge difference these saws are pretty nice after some cheap diy improvements
The Forestry Department had had cases where the pressure in the Stihl fuel tank builds up the open to refil and get sprayed with fuel with those stupid caps. There’s a company making alternative fittings for the Stihl caps using a race car refuelling system for safety.
That filter is new for the 562XP. Its supposed to be better than the previous. The one I have lets too much stuff get by and screwed up mine. I have to rebuild the engine and get an adaptor kit to mount that filter unit. Not really complaining I ran the bejeezus out of the saw but changing out of the original style filter could save a major rebuild.
Yeah that brake/cover system … you have to know that works in reverse too. I didn’t know and was changing my chain out in the woods and couldn’t get the cover back on. By the time I was done I had completely removed the chain brake safety feature from the cover. Found out maybe a few months later why I couldn’t reassemble the saw … Probably should get a new cover because I’ve been running without that safety for a few years now …
I have the T540iXP battery top handle, 550XP Mark II, 562XP new filter version like yours, 572XP, 592XP, 395XP. The 550 Mark II is probably my most used and the smaller chain is great. Don’t fear the smaller chain it cuts faster. The 562XP was my second to last saw and it is great but when you have a 550XP Mark II and a 572XP you can skip the 562XP. I also agree the 395XP is a pig and wears you out compared to the 592XP. You will love the 5 series saw Ken, they are better.
I was yelling at you guys to take the brake off !! Hahaha I have two 562xp and the one has cut me 300+ cords and I also have a 550 xp for cedar there’s no comparing them two the 562 is a beast for it’s size
I have all of the auto tunes and 3 out of the 5 primer lines were kinked when I took them out of the box just have to reroute them around the main line. They are all amazing saws I have stihl light bars on them the balance is perfect
Hey Chris . You keep commenting bout Stihl chainsaws leaking gas and oil from poor gas cap design… I have two saws that DO NOT Leak . Just sayin …. Love your videos. Craig Pa
It isn't if...It is when! They will eventually start leaking and enjoy cleaning up the mess. Their gas caps were so over engineered it isn't even funny. Yet they can not seem to swallow their pride and go back to atleast the old design...
Nice new saw! You forgot to teach Kenny how to put oil and gas in his new saw. Oil first, gas second. The saw can’t run without gas but it can run without oil and ruin the saw.
You were talking about you wish echo would make a professional saw. They have an entire line of pro saws. I would put my 501p 2511p 7310pw or 6 620pw against anything husky or stihl offers. I have owned nearly all of them.
Why do so many husky's have a primer bulb but a lot of Stihls don't. Self priming carbs? Mine stihl usually starts in about 3 pulls and no primer bulb even after sitting for months.
3 Saw Challenge: Husqvarna 592xp (Stihl bar w adapter), Stihl 400cm, and Echo 355t. I heard you say you don't like 325 chain, but a Husky 550 (or 545 I like better...lower running temp, plenty fast for size) is great for cleaning up small stuff.
Great video. On the uk Husqvarna website the 562 is only .5kg or 1.1 pounds lighter than a 572 with 20” bar. Unless it’s different in USA . Maybe you should try and weight both saws in a video.
i just bought a 545 and the dealer changed the chain and sprocket for me took 5 minutes. didnt want the smaller chain want to keep using the same files.
Congratulations on the new saw, Ken! She is absolutely beautiful! It was nice of your brother to find some 592 wood for you to break it in with!🤣🤣 I often wonder how many guys have bought saws that were to big because of RU-vid and bragging rights? 60cc is a great class for a firewood saw! Enjoy...👍
Oh...It was awesome to have met you at the show as well. Thanks for making the long trip and so glad you guys had a great time and plan to come back again!
@@thefirewooddoctorThe 572 is an awesome saw also... I usually grab a 50,60 and 70cc saw when heading out. A guy has about all his bases covered that way. Occasionally though...the big artillery needs to get the cobwebs blown out them! The 500I is a perfect example...So many were sold and now guys are seeing that the 400 was overlooked in the 500 Hoopla and is actually the better all around firewood saw. The RU-vidrs that have both all seem to be grabbing the 400 more and more and leaving the heavier 500I in the shop!👍
@@waynetharp, I'd get the 462 over the 500i. The new Stihl 400 is a pretty sweet little saw. If I was a Stihl man, I'd get one over bith the 362 and 462. And probably get a second 400 as backup.
Good video fellas. I run a 3/8 chain on my 550XP Mark ll with a 24 in bar. I'll bring it down next time I'm there. I'll think you may be surprised how well it works! GNI
Nice saw/video guys. Glad to see that Kenny didn't teach the saw any bad habits by babying it. 55 gal barrel of bar oil tells us a lot about how much you really cut. GNI
Hey Chris, I just bought a new 562, and i'm wondering if any parts from the 545 our interchangeable with the 562? A tree took out my 545, but there's plenty of good parts on it
