The Apple keeps copying the same models, nothing changes, still those uncomfortable angular sides and unbearable weight... the lack of innovation since the founder's death is visible. When will they start experimenting and making these flat devices, e.g. moving towards materials such as carbon fiber, etc.. it smells of lack of development.
Yes. It'll be more modern looking like the rest of the pack, so it would need to be. It has potential if Apple doesn't get greedy and mess it up. Planning on getting it, if it has the iphone 13/14 design. Will be interesting.
I have the watch SE and it fit my needs for fitness tracking with some app support as well as being able to take calls. I am looking at the watch series ten as a big upgrade.
I’ve been an iPhone SE user in the last one leap year right since the release of the iPhone SE 2. I had previously owned an 8 and there wasn’t really much of a difference besides the se coming with the latest and greatest powerful chip at the time. But the device is beginning to show its age and I’m looking forward to the next generation of iPhone SE to upgrade to as I’m a student and I’ve got budget constraints too😂.
I need to upgrade my SE 2 so hopefully will get either a second-hand iPhone 15 (after iPhone 16 is released) or the SE 4. Keep up the excellent reviews!
Great Video! Thanks for explaining how the iPhone SE has evolved. Given what you have said in this video about what the size realistically might be of iPhone SE 4 when Apple releases it, I could live with a tiny bump up its physical size just to keep using the Apple Eco System. When you talk about an Apple iPhone for the masses: those people who want the iPhone capabilities at the most affordable price, that includes me and many other people. You are spot on right about that segment of the smartphone market.
Hello Matt. I have submitted one of these already but here is my second one. I plan on purchasing a iPhone 16 promax or whatever the variance is for this year as a switch out for and from my current version 14 Pro Max.
Hi, excellent video, I wish apple made the se4 with a mini chassis, as I really like this size and my se2 needs replacement very soon, so this year I plan to change my iphone to a new one, maybe the new se, depending on when it comes out, or maybe the 15/16.
One month ago I bought an iPhone 13 as my entry gadget into the iOS ecosystem after having used Android since I've known myself. Started to love their operating system and tricks and I've also recently bought an Ipad 10 for meetings/media and some casual games on the go. Maybe I'll get an older apple watch after they lunch the next one as the prices might go down a bit.
I had the first and second se I’d love the se 4 (hopefully in May) or the 16 would be nice if they introduced all the phones at once. I wouldn’t mind the new iPad Air.
Thank you for another great informative video. I am waiting for the iPad Pros. I personally think that using the iPhone 14 design as a base is not a bad idea however I hope that they fix the battery life and possibly keep the home button in some way.
I have an SE 3 and love it and I only buy the SEs because I want the smallest iPhone possible. I don't like large phones. I want something easy to carry and that does the basics. So for me it's all about size as I could afford a higher end model but I'd rather put that money into an iPad or MacBook Pro. However if what you suggest is true and the use the 14 as a base I don't feel it would be too big. Like you said its a small increase.
Great information Matt, thanks. I’m likely to change my SE2 this year, so I’ll almost certainly go for this SE4. I’m also quite happy to win your giveaway at the end of June. I need to update my iPad , so this will do just fine, Thanks!
Do you know when it will be available and at what price. I am just about to buy the SE 3 for my elderly husband. His old SE is failing with charging. He likes a smaller phone. Thanks 😊
I was thinking about upgrading my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I'm at 83% battery health and if the SE is like the old iPhone 14, maybe i ´ll buy it (mainly because of Face ID and the USB-C port❤). I don't have any brand loyalty, but apple's ecosystem is so good that it feel's like if you are buying an iPhone, you are kinda stuck in there 😢
I plan on buying a new I phone, I’m rocking with the 8 plus so I’m very excited for the new phones. My MacBook is also old, a free upgrade would be a dream!
I’m still paying off the “lease” on my current iPhone through Verizon - the only way I can afford any tech is by leasing it from either Verizon or Apple. As they say, our current economic model means you really don’t own anything anymore. Will the SE4 be larger? 🤷 But current SE users would have to buy a new phone case even with the small changes you mentioned. It’s a small expense compared to the price of an iPhone, but if I was a current SE owner, I’d be annoyed. If I buy any tech this year, it would probably be a new iPad, the only questions are will I stick with the Pro, and when is the next iPad Pro going to be released? That second one probably is known information, I just need to seek it out. I’m new to your channel, I bet this is a topic you’ve covered in a video. My MacBook is a few years old and probably has less memory, etc., than the one you’re giving away. I’m currently working on creating my own channel as well as zine - these will be passion projects, I’ve lost direction in life since going on disability - but SSD income is limiting, so I hope to get enough subscribers to get monetized (it’s permissible to earn a little bit of extra money without losing benefits).
I like the Ono size I can easily function it with one hand just make a better battery and better lens for camera and I’m good things I create with the 2nd Gen SE is mind blowing to friends who had bigger iPhone
Still rocking the original 😂 fourth generally I missed the last three upgrades. Deliberately bought the original as I don’t like huge phones. But it’s showing it’s age now and 80% capacity hat doesn’t really affect me till I go out for the day and not near a charger but got a external charger for it on the go.
I was thinking of upgrading from my 2015 MacBook pro. It doesn't handle the latest Logic X very well. Or maybe dive in to an open core build. My mom definitely needs a new iphone. Im heavily interested in a new SE. She's got a second gen.
We are hoping for new iPad mini this year and I’m looking for a new phone I like the size of the iPhone mini maybe a a new SE I don’t like big cell phones.great videos I enjoy your style of videos keep up the good work.
Thanks Matt! The size difference is so tiny and a little silly for people to be so worried about I feel☺️ I would prefer it to be slightly larger screen. This year, i dream of getting a new MacBook Pro or air ☺️ I do need a new iPhone too though … on an xr but the screen has a few cracks unfortunately. It’s working quite well still really though ( most of the time at least! lol!)
I want to get the new iPhone SE, the updated design makes it more in line with the design language that apple is going through. Hope I get enough money to buy it though. Hahaha. Great review.
I've had the iPhone 12 mini for a while now and I can't explain how bad it has been getting, but this year im planning on buying a iPhone 14 or 15 pro with maybe 128 or 256gb of storage and I also have this very old macbook air from 2016 that I still use to run certain programs for school because my daily drive isn't one but this year I plan on upgrading to maybe a macbook air from 2020 so that I wouldn't be behind on updates
@@enricohar2686 yeah but I'm pretty hyped up about the SE 4 coming this year so i mght wait it out for a bit so i hope 82% battery life lasts till then!
I would really love it if they used the mini form factor for the new SE, I have the 15 and I can’t use it with one hand, I really miss the mini I had. If the new SE have the mini form factor, USB-c and a decent camera, I will buy that and give the 15 to my mum :) And if I’m gonna answer the question, I’m gonna buy a 13” iPad this year, probably after the summer when I saved some money :)
If they revive the iPhone mini and rebrand it as an SE I think it would be a hit. Alternatively, I hear the iPhone XR was very popular so they could also go in that direction. I very highly doubt they will make an SE that looks too similar to the current iPhone. I’m not an expert and even I can see that.
the 12/13 mini should have been cheaper to match the SE pricing which would have helped it's sales but Apple didn't want to devalue their flagship line and would rather have the mini series flop than have it sell at 200-300$ less than the standard 12/13. I do wonder if the plus models are also going to go the same way because they are so big and don't have the extra benefits of the Pro Max. I think a perfect size for the new SE would be that of the Xs or 11 Pro, that fits in your hand so easily which it seems the regular 14 model is close to in size.
The mini didn’t sell well because the price was too high and the battery life wasn’t good enough. It doesn’t need to be paper thin. It can be slightly thicker like the original iPhone 4/5. It doesn’t need wireless charging taking up space inside that could be used for the battery. And the price has to be more in line with the SE, especially since it’s smaller… paying more for less phone is silly. It’s the same issue with the iPad mini somehow being more expensive than the iPad 10th gen that came out at same time. Just doesn’t make sense.
I know there someone that doesn’t like that fact that isn’t coming small as ever but, I get enchanted for the new design, it’s beautiful and I think SE 4th will be my new phone 🤞🏼
I’ve had the IPhone 12 Pro Max for almost over 3 years. Basically for months it was glitching and the battery is degraded. But as a result this summer of 2024 I will be upgrading to the iPhone 15 Pro 512 GB Blue Titanium.
I still have my iPhone 8 and my SE(2). The 8 sucks on the battery life. The SE(2) is still good on charging. I still using my iPhone 14 in purple. My next iPhone will be the 15 in pink or blue or yellow. I still liked the design of the 15. I had a little issue with my 14 with the charging port on it a little bit over a month ago. I was using iPhone 14 Pro in purple for a couple weeks. I just noticed the weight of the 14 Pro compared towards the 14. No problem of using the Pro.
They definitely should have used the Mini as the new SE. The reason the mini flopped was because it was released as a flagship & was more expensive than the SE. So Utilising the mini as a the SE at the price range of 500 would have been a win cos we still get bigger screen in a smaller body.
great review, i think i'm gonna buy the SE 4 since i don't really have the money for a top phone but i also don't wanna lose apple's user friendly interface
What people rarely realise is that, the mini flopped because there was a cheaper SE on the (almost) same market price. People who wanted to get a cheaper iPhone ended up getting the SE instead of the mini, of which only gets buyer who wanted a smaller but not cheap iPhone. If Apple were to use the mini frame for the next SE, it would still sell better than the mini because there is no overlap on size and price. In my opinion, if the new SE were to use the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 frame, its either people buying the SE, or just buy the 14 instead, again an overlap. If they use the smaller 5.4-inch mini frame, then people have more variety to chose as there is no overlap in any means.
Was never a fan of the SE models. I agree with the mini being a good size model. I still have the 12 mini and am happy with it. Going to get the 16 this year though..
I'm just happy Apple went with FaceID over the captive TouchID in the side of the frame like the iPad. Went from a _definitely won't buy_ to _possibly might buy_ . Personally, in 2024 I'm running an iPhone 11 Product Red 256GB and Apple Watch Series 7 45mm Nike Edition - GPS. I had been wanting to buy a replacement LCD for my cracked Apple Watch Series 4 44mm - GPS this year, but the cost of repair was so high that I bought a refurbished Series 4 44mm - LTE for half the price of the LCD repair, then restored it from the last backup. That's been my only purchase so far, and with my reward points it was closer to $50 actually spent ($99 otherwise). I also have to run to the Apple Store later today to replace the battery in my iPhone XR Product Red 256GB backup device (former work phone). I actually built that phone from 2 broken phones 4 years ago, so I'm curious to see what Apple has to say about my handywork this time. With them being all glass, I'm just trying to preemptively prevent a "spicy-pillow" scenario since it's in _Service_ mode currently. Last time it was the $29.99 battery replacement program in my iPhone 6s Plus Gold 128GB; their technicians marveled at the mint state of my device despite being bought in 2015 and being 4 years old at the time. They said it was the cleanest device they had seen since the time they were still selling them new, and that they were "surprised it had never been opened and had all the original hardware" after so long. What they didn't know was it was also built by me from 2 phones: the original battery had been swapped twice already by that time (they were doing battery #3), and I had reapplied all the factory tamper seals without damaging them during the housing swap, as it was a used 128GB AT&T board (paid off account, too) with a cracked digitizer and mildly bent/road-rashed frame transplanted into a 16GB donor chassis I got for $50 with a Sprint finance lock and a battery that vented and got covered by Apple under AppleCare. They sent back a reconditioned device, I immediately swapped housings then resold the locked device again for $50 for parts and basically renewed my device for free. From day 1, I kept it in a Ballistic Tough Jacket case with a tempered glass screen protector. Even after falling 30 Ft out of my pocket while suspended over a warehouse on an order picker, Apple's technicians were amazed it was still in such good condition and free of any damage (aside from some slight finish wear around the Lightning port and rear camera cutout).
@@MattTalkTech Thanks, although I'm not entirely sure I need the upgrade right away. Frankly, the 11 is doing just fine for the time being, and the XR is significantly improved in performance and speed with the new battery they installed today. It no longer stutters doing basic tasks. The XR is my backup device in case the 11 fails, but it used to be my dedicated work line for a time. Now I use it more for 4K60 video capture and creative stuff. Otherwise I've had great luck with all my iPhones: the 6s Plus was $300 in 2015, the XR was $220 in 2020, and the 11 was $280 in 2022. That's 2x 256GB devices for $500 instead of $1750 retail, and the 64GB iPhone 11 for instance still retailed for $699, so it's still less cost than 2 for one, while being that much more capacity. I just have to settle on being a couple of years behind is all...we'll see what prices are looking like on the SE 4 by maybe 2026 or so. I'm in no rush to upgrade.
