I think Kuokkanen is just a better well rounded player that Jesper Boqvist. He was paired with Sharangovich and Hughes quite a bit this season. He's also proven to be a much better producer than what's been seen from Boqvist thus far. I would keep Boqvist as a scratch player. Also Kevin Bahl got brought up near the end of the season for 7 games and he looked pretty decent out there on the ice. I could see him competing for a bottom six spot next season or being that 7th defenseman. I like some of the signings you made here.
This is a great question. The best thing to take away from the way those teams were built is to really trust the development of your own prospects before trying to build around them. Many teams try to build around their prospects as they are developing and I find that doesn’t work as well. Teams like Tampa waited for guys like Point and Kucherov to fully develop before going after big trades for guys like McDonagh for example. Colorado has accumulated lots of high end prospects over the years as well. The best thing I can preach is patience, but at the same time you can expect Hughes and Hischier to break out within the next 1-2 years
@@templinscouting I understand that the fans need to have patience but st some point the whole rebuilding does get tiresome and the same with the losing. The Devils have to find a way to end this rebuild soon because it would be great to make the playoffs instead of being in the draft lottery year after year. Also, the team has to sign some actual free agents instead of just relying on the draft and trades. Fans are tired of the losing.
@@matt13r1 just keep in mind that the teams you mentioned didn’t make any big splashes in free agency until they were ready to compete. In fact Colorado and Tampa really haven’t made any big free agent signings over the past couple of years. Both of their main cores were either drafted or traded for
@@templinscouting But at the same time, I view the fans are getting frustrated with all this losing because of how bad the team is. You can't rely on the kids all the time. You need some veterans and leaders and that's where free agency comes in. You can't also rely on the draft and trades all the time either. Look at the guys the Devils have drafted in the last 10 years. Guys like Zacha and McLeod are busts. The team needs an identity and get rid of this losing culture. They need a goal scorer badly instead of a bunch of playmakers. They also need help on defense too.
