The pilot siding is definitely coming to life - looks great Richard! Really like the buffer stops - the sidings would have looked lost without them. Looking forward to the next episode. Best, John

I love the quality of your work but I think it would be more appropriate to refer to the "catch" point as the TRAP point. I presume you have altered the wiring of the point as supplied .Finally you know that you that you will be wiring the various lengths of track etc so why not pre-solder the drop wires on the underside of the rails both of which can be fed to the centre of the track and down thereby hiding the wires and any ' heavy' soldering joints which most of us can do !

Nice job, one thing you could do is when you fit the point motors fit one to the catch on a double pole switch so that when the point is set for main line it will 'derail' the catch points

What you need isn't a standard plier! No you need a pair of Cable Ratchet Crimping Tool! Go to eBay type in TU-36 Modular Telecom Crimping Tool or Cable Ratchet Tool the cost is around £12:30 You'll never look back no more dead wires or cable faults! As always really enjoyed your production great work well done

Good job Richard. Instead of using a brush after drilling a hole, why don't you get a USB vacuum? That's what I use and they aren't expensive. You can use it for ballast or flocking and get your excess back again. Amazon sell them and they tend ot be called keyboard vacuums.

This video is music to my ears. Seeing u use wired fishplates and splicers(are they the DCC kit you can buy with wires joiners and a resister for the end?). I have been told so many times that’s wired fishplates don’t work or the DCC kit is not good but then u say u use as poor at solder like I gives me so much confidence to use. My question is do u use wired fishplates in every join and is points same as normal track?
@NewJunction
@NewJunction 5 лет назад
I used soldered fish plates at 4 points on each loop on the mainline. :-)
@mtty1988

New Junction thanks so I use them on all fish plate joins thanks and as a end to end keep the same colour/polarity the same don’t need to revers out. And u use the DCC kit. Out else u do like that. As I also can’t solder or that stuf

Noob question over here... ☝🏻 What is a catch-point? Why are they found just off pilot sidings?
@NirateGoel
@NirateGoel 5 лет назад
It's to stop rolling stock runing onto the main line by derailing them. In this case to stop an engine from running driver less onto the main line. They're found in lots of places like where yards meet the main line to stop trucks from rolling onto the mainline and causing an accident. You're not the first to ask I can see 3 other comments that are a week old that you should be able to see too.

Disused line turn one buffer lights off or have the disused like have the buffer light have one working one smashed broken ok same buffer maybe a tree growing with weeds shrubs missing sleepers as been removed maybe some fly tip rubbish or likes maybe an old wagon buffer end of tree to make you think how it got there. Maybe as urban other buffer Removed have a sleeper on the rails to stoop things going ovet it and ether remover the Track leaving sleeper marks. But if it was in Stratton they would both be keepers neat tidy as both visible by station and town and what I said upper more for rural area. But smashed lights would be there maybe run the pilots up tonebd If station so it can hold a train and wagon maybe steam and support coach or a thing like nuclear flask or sim short trains. One could be a storage for northern trains for there over night storage and story been the station dose not have not enough bay plays and use as extra night storage and to be cleaned. Maybe a 1or 2 car dmu. Another idea set them as clean new ballast like york pilots and they often have a 37s or sim parked there. See Facebook as for photos
