Yes! This is just what I need. Built my baseboards (not as fancy as yours) in feb 2020. Covid hit, prices jacked up and I gave up. Boards have been sat all built in the loft for nearly 2 years. Watching your progress will be just the kick in the stones i need to get my own layout back in play. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Great to see you back! Can’t wait to see what the future brings for the layout. Also so glad you’re doing ECML too and that the Azuma has finally arrived from Hornby. I can’t believe it has taken 3 years for the Azuma to come but it was definitely worth the wait for me to see it go through York station on my layout.

This is great news, cannot wait to see what you create. I'm planning on building a TMD as its the only thing I can do with my current available space but need to keep it modular for a house move next year so this video is really on point for me right now so thank you. I'm the process of planning it on Any Rail and you've given me a push to think about baseboards. I am expecting the return of the jazz music in the next video.

So glad you’re back!!! Have been waiting for this and can’t wait to see how it turns out!! An idea for the layout could be a fiddle yard on the lower level (under your current baseboards) giving you as much scenic space as possible on the top level... a small branch line to a little single platform country station could be an interesting scenic point too, if you didn’t think it would be too much what with the heritage railway!! One tip I will say with the heritage line is to make it look very much separate from the mainline because it will create that added bit of realism with regard to it looking like a completely separate line and not hugging the main line too closely, emphasising the effect of it being a reopened Beeching closure that went to a different destination - just an idea from experience! My idea for my limited space is to make a scenic board but with a temporary loop off-scene so I can enjoy the best of both worlds. Maybe see you at Donny (Sat) and/or Glasgow (Sun)?

Beautiful advance bench construction components! I am used to stick construction, but this set-up is excellent!

Glad to see you back finally! Steam heritage on one half and an urban feel on the other with underground or tram would be great.

great to see the beginning of a layout, can't wait to see the track laying, scenery choices, and eventually train running. the only suggestion i can think of is building a tunnel.

The greatest challenge you will face is finding the time. Fatherhood catches you anytime you turn around and think you have a minute. 😁 It is awesome to see the start of a new New Junction. Like everyone else commenting, I am just glad to see you are excited to be back at it and looking forward to what you create. Sadly or happily, the old New Junction is in the distant enough past, there won't be direct comparisons.

Great to see you back Richard. Very nice looking boards. Birch plywood is the way to go. Mine has held up now for over 10 years without any issues. The ability to convert it to an exhibition layout is very cool, looking forward to seeing how that pans out. Good luck!

Nice one Richard. Ive been planning my layout for the best part of 2 years. Ive a double garage and intend building in one half at 5.3m x 2.6m. All the considerations, access, placing of sidings, whether to have a station never mind a round the wall or 'W' shaped layout all added to the confusion! Look forward to seeing your progress.

I knew you were kept busy with the day job, but it's nice to see you escape for a home visit. Hornby security must have had a day off, or they've not found the tunnel yet! Having just started a new layout myself I know the excitement and enthusiasm you'll have with a blank canvas to play with. Already looking forward to Ep 2 in 2024! ;-)

canals or river would make a great way and easy way to join the board from expo to home layout, also a canal along side a heritage railway adds a time let age to it. great to see you on a new project. good luck
