We pronounce Krone the same her in Ireland and Krone is the self-propelled mower of choice here :). Extremely heavy silage crop here and mowers such as the Krone Big M 400 have no problem mowing, they also have a 30ft reach and can row/swathe or widespread depending on choice.

i went to the krone factory in germany last year verry inpressive. the farmer that bales for us has 2 krone big pack 1290. they use a tractor with 160 horsepower and a tractor with 240 horsepower to run the baler the baler behind the 240 hp tractor has a pre shop pickup that shops the grass in to 1 inch pieces before baling.
1400 lb flywheel, that is awesome. still seems like you just start the thing slowly and wind it up you should be fine. 185hp sounds like plenty. hydraulic started seems like a really cool idea.
New Holland has had a long time to get their pickup right. I think they engineer things to status quo. If its selling and there is not TOO many problems per so many balers I guess they call it good. They need three models, standard, heavy duty and the Pandy version!
+bimmerman3 your bang on there. some new holland field testers came to work with us and they were constantly pulling their hair out trying to work with shitty parts that some guys on a computer designed.
New some people who had a krone square baler on demo last year, they had a case magnum 340 on the front and they had to kick start the flywheel from one of the tractors spools cause trying to start the baler straight off with the pto stalled the tractor..
Wes I operated a demo Big Pack hd II with a 255 pto hp Fendt and I would not recomend anyting smaller. From all the tractors you own I would probably use the 4960 and give it half a turn more fuel ;) maybe one and watch the temp gauge a bit This company we did the demo for stick with their old 1270 Big Pack because their customers liked the smaler bales better than the bigger ones from the hd II
Try the krone because it's one of the well known balers and it can bale at top speed. Your tractor isn't to weak or old, believe me. I had an Landini 14500 and it done the job just fine
If you watch the videos of the krone baler everybody is running 300 hp+ tractors so I guess you'll need them! But you could crank the 8120 up to 300hp, can't you? I'm also looking forward to the krone demo !
I always say krone like you do.. And I am from europe haha :P But some also say Kérone :P Just say how you like it :P And maybe you can chiptune your 7810? I thought your tractor was like 230 to 250 horsepower since our 7530 (europe) has like 190 hp... Tuned to 230.

you would think that a good safety thing would be to put a oillevel sensor in the hydraulic reservour , should give you the fastest indication while operating the machine as for the krone baler ..... rent a tractor with enough power for the demonstration . that should silence them if you happen to hook it up to youre own 180 horse tractor to see if it'll work they wouldnt know
I've said it before and I'll say it again, you need some camera mounts in the cab so you don't have to hold your camera while filming and driving. Safety first.
Its gear driven. Its like the transmission in your car, except youd have two clutches, one for driving and one for the pto. Im not 100% sure but on my tractors its gear driven.
Gene Murphy I dont think thats pto, but if it is, the pto is connected to the transmission. One of my older 50s john deeres and the 9n had a transmission pto, how ever our other 50s john deere had a direct connect pto, when that motor was running, the pto was going.
"I got plenty of horsepowers" and the next thing you say is 180? 180 hp is the same output as a 1998 chevrolet tahoe 6.5TD. its nothing xD I think it should be at least 400-500 hp in a 8000- series tractor
+lmmayer1 The Krone owners manual recommends a minimum of 177 HP for the 1290 HDP, without the cutting system. The 1290 HPD II, (Generation II) needs 231 HP. It is also 10,000 pounds heavier at 32,000 pounds without hay.

Hell even with that the loss is so minimal is is not important, you dont buy a 180hp tractor for a minimum 180hp atleast if you do your gonna need a thick wallet for the cost of repairs.
