The New Managing Director of Communications for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints supports the Pride and Trans movement and uses pronouns.
What does a member of the Church make of this? Does the Church support these ideologies? How will this change the messaging of the Church?
There is a spiritual side of the Church and a corporate side of the Church.

Here is the way they are phrasing it: "the Lord loves you just the way you are." A true statement, "the Lord loves you." But, the "just the way you are" motivates no change in lifestyle. So true, great scriptural example! “Come as you are…. Why are the LGBTQ people so much more deserving of such support and love, what about homeless people , prisoners, ex convicts, addicts; these groups get completely ignored. It’s because it’s not about love, it’s about pushing their agenda.

All of these groups face stigmatism and need love and support. I think the LGBTQ community has the focus right now because they face very direct discrimination. I've never heard someone say "homeless people shouldn't get married", but nearly every comment on this video is saying that about gay people. My hope is that as the LGBTQ community receives more acceptance, we can spend more conversations on helping the groups you mentioned.

We are full tithe payers and give fast offering every month. We are not materially rich. We rent an apartment. I got hospitalized and had surgery. Hospital gave us a great discount because we are considered poor. We paid the hospital for half of the total price. We asked the bishop's help. He said to my face that the hospital already helped us and we are not qualified for fast offering. I thought it was for the poor and needy. I didnt have a job for two months before my accident. @@Pygochelidonwhy is a religion expected to change its fundamental values and beliefs to accommodate a fringe group? A person who lies may not see a moral problem with it, should a church change its beliefs by saying that lying is now considered acceptable? You could apply the concept with any religious beliefs. A church is accepting of people no matter what their struggles are. But the person should change, not the church.
@Pygochelidon
@Pygochelidon 5 месяцев назад
@@dudesofderndraw9323 Hm, interesting example. I think there are two very important differences between liars and members of the the LGBTQ community. Someone who treats lying as a virtue will cause a lot a harm with their lies. People in the LGBTQ community simply want to have the same rights and acceptance as everyone else. A gay person having the opportunity to marry the love of their life and build a happy, healthy, loving relationship with someone of the same sex does not harm you or your relationships. A gay couple getting to wake up and make breakfast together in the morning does not threaten your ability to have the same romance in your life. Condemning these people for having a loving relationship does not prevent harm. Condemning lying does prevent harm. The second difference is that lying is a choice. Being gay is not a choice. Having gender dysphoria is not a choice. Transitioning because it's the best medical treatment for an individual with gender dysphoria is not really a choice.

We know even the elite will be deceived. Not only that but that very fact implies that many of the non-elite/simple followers will be deceived BY the elite who are being deceived. Always found it interesting that church employment requires temple worthiness, yet someone who supports the LGBTQ agenda can answer the question: “Do you support or promote any teachings, practices, or doctrine contrary to those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?” and still be approved. I guess it’s really because at the end of the day we each answer with our own understanding & answer the final “do we consider ourselves worthy?” question with our own judgement. It’s not so much on the Bishop/Stake Pres these days. Or if it is, we also have Bishops/Stake Pres that are pro LGBTQ anyway so the corruption has many places to slip through. Hold fast everyone. Lot of folks will be drinking damnation to their souls I feel in the last days. Thinking they can steer the Church like a ship to their own will, but refusing to follow His will. Showing a form of godliness but denying His power. Don’t be like them. Those people are easy to recognize. I personally have never felt a more appropriate time to use some descenting votes in sustainings than now. Talk to your unit leaders when you have concerns about the messages another leader might be promoting within the church. That’s really our only recourse when we see problems like this.

Here's the scripture : a great and spacious building; and it stood as it were in the air, high above the earth. 27 And it was filled with people, both old and young, both male and female; and their manner of dress was exceedingly fine; and they were in the attitude of mocking and pointing their fingers towards those who had come at and were partaking of the fruit You don't mock or point fingers if you don't elevate yourself above that person first, aka PRIDE. It doesn't take much to see how these "social truths" are used to make those believing in gospel truths to be off base and a reason for mocking.

Read the Book of Mormon and everything you can about secret combinations and Gadianton robbers. These moves are all very deliberate and you are not likely to see any retraction from the church. Even if there is some sort of a retraction, it will not effect any real or lasting change from the radical direction the church is headed. Read Isaiah and study it in depth. I hope I can help with that. In the OT the prophet Eli let his bad kids lead at the temple wickedly. Samuel the prophet let his kids stay in the judgement seat though they were corrupt. So the people of Israel got sick of it and demanded that Samuel give them a king. God was so angry. So was Samuel because the people 1) didn’t go to God 2) conspired with each other for their solution 3) wanted a solution that wasn’t Jesus (aka a king is the antithesis of liberty, Jesus = liberty). The scriptures show how to respond when leaders can and do err. D&C 1 even says that they will err, and many other places. There’s so many scriptures about what to do. There are collectivists and globalists in the church. It’s a political movement anchored in the belief that the individual must be forced to sacrifice himself for the whole and the whole is a worldview that humans are damaging to the planet and it is fine to use all the tools of communism to achieve the ends of an idyllic Zion… of fewer than 8 billion people. Hang in there. Follow the HG. Seek earnestly the best gifts as in D&C 46:7,8. Measure everything by love, the scriptures and confirmation of the HG.

You walked the edge of the sword with this post, Greg. You didn't cut yourself and you didn't fall. Harder than a tightrope. Thank you. Jesus and Joseph both called men into offices who later betrayed them and brought about their deaths. How could they be so blind? Some may wonder. It had to happen to bring about the plan of salvation properly. Lehi let his rebellious sons in the boat along with the righteous. The scourge of war that the tension created in the future, brought about the humility the Nephites needed. These trials are why we came to earth to make choices that can fool even the very elect.

@@capybara39419 Sure. Let me start by staying I didn't mean to imply Jesus was blind. He clearly understood what Judas would do and why it needed to play out as it did. Jesus said that even the very elect would be fooled in the last days. Many of the elect are putting politics above the gospel. I struggle with that at times because there is a strong tie there. I can see why so many people in the Lord's day felt that for Israel to fulfill her spiritual destiny, the Romans had to be driven out. Thus they chose Barrabas over Jesus as he was trying to drive out the Romans. Christ was establishing His spiritual kingdom. It wasn't time for Him to ride to battle in the last days to claim His Bride from the false Bridegroom Satan. Many of the elect understand the tie between religion and politics but don't understand that the Lord is allowing the wheat and tares to grow together before He harvests them. Tares don't come to a head to reveal themselves until just before harvest. Out- of- line Church members (even some struggling leaders to test us) may still repent and in the end become wheat. If we judge and fight the political battles now to drive out what we believe to be tares, then Jesus won't fight our battles for us. He knows the tests must be faced; He knows exactly when 'Rome, Babylon etc.' must be defeated. He knows the dangers the enemy poses and what great care we must take. Our test is to follow the prophet as His mouthpiece for what is necessary for us to know. The division in order to have a purified Zion/Bride, is happening as it did in the days of Moses. Only this unified body of the elect (sanctified) can work with the Bridegroom Christ to open the windows of heaven so He can make His arm bare in the eyes of the nations...WHEN the time is right, to fight our battles. Father will have a tried people whose faith has become sure.

If going independent means you preclude yourself from the sacrament, from temple attendance, from the ordinances of the gospel, is going independent "right"? I would say no, but this is a question with which you have to come to terms. As more and more of these things occur within the church or BYU, the quote from President Nelson comes to mind: "In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost." I feel like I am frequently looking for guidance when something like this occurs, and frankly I have found direction and comfort in doing the basics (prayer, scripture study, temple worship, etc.). I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that President Nelson is the Lord's prophet today, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's church on the earth. That is all I need to know. Like Greg alluded to, I feel like this type of stuff is "mists of darkness." I think the key is to hold to the iron rod and hold fast to our covenants. In the meantime, as we await the Second Coming of the Savior, I am sure there will continue to be difficult predicaments that we never thought we would have like "Do I want to send my children or donations to BYU?" (As a 3rd generation BYU graduate, I am having struggles with this one.). In the end, I know that as I do my best to have the Spirit in my life, I will know what to do when the time comes. Even as I strive to listen to the Spirit, I always appreciate the perspective of people like Greg, because when confusion like this comes up, it is refreshing to hear that someone expresses what I am feeling.

When we were discussing LGBTQ outreach in our stake last year, everyone was in agreement that, as disciples of Jesus Christ, we should embrace the individual with sincere love and respect. I certainly agree with that. But one member pointed out that there is an ideology which arises from the LGBTQ community which is contrary to gospel principles and which we should not embrace. That ideology includes, for example, the criminalization in Canada of the failure to use preferred pronouns; promotion of drag queen story hour in elementary schools in the U.S.; efforts to exclude parents in decision making vis a vie gender issues with their children; and activism within the Church to recognize same-sex marriage. It's going to be very difficult to embrace the individual but not the community and its ideology. The people in the large and spacious building will not be tolerant of this. I think about these things often when I hear the words "lips that they may never speak guile" and "hands that they may be strong and wield the sword of justice in defense of truth and virtue."

Yes great thoughts! Your point about embracing the individual vs the ideology has great bearing on our success in “outreach” to the LGBTQ community. I agree with Greg and church leadership we need to reach out with a positive message of love, but with our core doctrines intact and done out of invitation to come enjoy the fruits of the gospel. Instead, the church in recent years seems to message “love and acceptance” only with little nuance outside of the occasional conference talk or youth fireside. And how will this outreach be perceived by many sucked into an ideology that teaches them that unless the entire LGBTQ l lifestyle is embraced and reflected within the church (gay marriage, affirming gender, etc), then anything less is hateful and dehumanizing. Homosexuality and family units built on same sex marriages, same sex romantic expression and trans activism in all forms of entertainment, etc, are all being normalized by society and culture. Drag queen shows used to be something reserved to certain venues and with adults only. Now there’s frequent drag entertainment marketed to kids and families on a regular basis in Provo and about anywhere in America. Aaron Sherinian and those with his worldview never distinguish between loving the individual and embracing the lifestyle, as well as embracing every form of sexual promiscuity that continues to increase in our culture as a result of the LGBTQ activist movement. So based on recent messaging in the church and this new hire, I’m not sure what type of “outreach” the church is going for. If it’s Aaron’s worldview, it’s full acceptance of it all, including children transition. But I don’t see any drastic change in approach unless we completely change our doctrines. If we don’t change doctrine and policy, our efforts will be perceived for naught. Perhaps it doesn’t matter how it’s perceived. Either way, there seems to be little consideration about how these decisions will be perceived by church members actively trying to uphold gospel doctrine

@@caguas97 I would disagree. There’s a reason President Oaks was asked questions from youth confused on this issue in a recent fireside discussion. She remarked how we hear limited direction in conference, but little if not contradicting messaging outside of conference and that her local ward and stake leaders and peers were just going along with much of the woke agenda. Luckily, President Oaks answered with clear and specific doctrine to her questions. Yes you can dive into the handbook and get some guidance, but the real-world straightforward discussion that amplifies truth in regards to this discussion seems to be a quiet voice from church leaders. The culture and secular/worldly influences responsible for infliltrating society and the church with these things is rarely if ever addressed. And youth of today are particularly tapped into that culture and the subtle deceptions that come with it. Understanding where exactly the lies are takes specificity we’re not seeing very much from church leadership, but rather from individuals like Greg helping people become aware. Just in my local ward and others, kids are siding with the worldly view on this. 6 girls decided they were trans recently in my friends ward in Sandy. I think there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that the current younger generation is both more confused and more affected than any prior generation when it comes to understanding/juxtaposing the doctrine of gender and the family with LGBTQ issues. As to the brethren in conference vs outside, I do agree that they’ve been pretty consistent on. It’s the BYU stuff, Deseret book, recent hires in prominent church related positions, etc. that although aren’t in and of themselves pillars of doctrine, or directly associated with the brethren’s decisions, but close enough to where contradicting worldviews in those institutions and individuals should be something the brethren consider. And if they do heavily consider and are involved in such decisions, why the compete lack of explanation given from church leadership?

That said “everyone “ is NOT allowed to be married, hold most callings or enter the Temple . To try and “recruit “ which is apparently the agenda one group or the other needs to understand the doctrine … either homosexuality is allowed or it is NOT . Why trick people into believing it will “soon “ be accepted if that is not the case ? Which group is being lied to the gay community or those who live the proclamation to the family ?

All of what you've talked about in this video has put words to my feelings of despair. I recently bore my testimony and said how the Church felt different now than when I joined in the early 70's. I soon after realized it's the times that have changed, and way too many members are being seduced by the devil instead of holding fast to the gospel truths. It is amazing to me that such a small minority of people can yell so loud to bend people's beliefs to theirs, conning them with the words of "love" and "acceptance." Oh, and "pride." Thank you so much for holding onto the truth and sharing it with us. (Can you believe it? 15 years ago who would have thought about changing their sex!? Unreal.)

In 2000 the church fought all the way to the supreme court for the BSA's right to hold to their standards that would exclude openly gay leaders. In 2008 the church encouraged members to fight to protect marriage. In 2013 the majority of members of the church were against SSM. In 2014 the church caved and remained with the BSA who had discarded the standards they fought for just 14 years before. The church encouraged the members to remain in the BSA. It is not surprising at all to see the correlation with members views changing after that. I know for a fact that the 2020 BYU honor code change wasn't a miscommunication as they later stated and that the change came from the brethren. They clearly thought there was enough support but when they received the backlash they back peddled and have been working to increase support ever since. Everything happening is by design, the temperature in the pot is slowing rising and most will accept it.

I have been listening to Elder Holland’s talk from 2014 “The Cost-and Blessings of Discipleship” which states that we should not condone or advocate for sin in any way. This Aaron Sherinian is clearly advocating and condoning. We are being asked to “defend our beliefs” while we have leaders completely going against them. I’m disheartened as this not only confuses me and those trying to defend our beliefs, but gives more hope to those in the church who stand waiting for our doctrine to change. No words😢

Good habits are developed in the workshop of our daily lives. It is not in the great moments of test and trial that character is built. That is only when it is displayed.” This principle applies to organizations as well. An organization's "character" is shaped by the collective decisions and habits of its members. So in a way corruption can come from within an organization.

We had the backing of the church public affairs, our Area Seventy, and our local church leaders. Little did we know that the future church communications director was on the other side of the country praising our opposition. Of course, this is just a few years after we were asked by President Monson, to go door to door and rally in the streets for Prop 8, having things thrown at us and profanity shouted at us as we stood for truth and righteousness. I don’t like feeling like I’m automatically labeled as a homo-phobe or whatever simply because I don’t agree with the ideology. It seems to be very hard for them to accept that we can treat them with love, kindness and respect AND not accept their ideologies, views and practices. Just like I don’t expect them to believe the way I do or my practices but I do expect mutual respect and kindness. It’s very hard to see a lot of people I know in the church that subscribe to this Woke agenda/ideaology , makes me feel pretty alone! While many may desire the church to lean far right politically, it's not in their best interest to align with any specific political party, especially in the global context. Asking about one's political views in an interview is likely unethical. The church aims to be right of center, as desired by leaders like Hinckley, maintaining this stance since the days of Benson and the John Birch society. The confusion about this hire may stem from recent controversies, particularly the church's struggles in building bridges with the LGBTQ community, resulting in a negative public perception.

I have been drawn to the blessing John the Baptist gave Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery when they received the Aaronic Priesthood: “Upon you my fellow servants, in the name of Messiah I confer the Priesthood of Aaron, which holds the keys of the ministering of angels, and of the gospel of repentance, and of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; and this shall never be taken again from the earth, until the sons of Levi do offer again an offering unto the Lord in righteousness.” I believe this promise, and we all should. When the “mists of darkness” lay siege to the Kingdom of God, it’s up to the citizens to find the light in the promises given. Joseph Smith gave us a way to open the door to the light: “I will give you a key that will never rust, if you will stay with the majority of the Twelve Apostles, and the records of the Church, you will never be led astray.” Trust the brethren and the records, or scriptures as I interpret it, of the Church. I am becoming very confused by the Church lately. This hiring with the knowledge of Aaron’s background is troubling and again creating mass confusion. The Tim Ballard response by the church to Vice is one of those issues. The CFM manual with tree of life rainbow symbology, Pres Nelson’s support of NAACP, the contribution to the Biden campaign and the Georgia Senator race from Uchtdorf that was swept under the rug, the obvious distain of right wing voices being allowed at the Church universities, allowance of using inequity in place of iniquity by the visiting professor…etc… This all is getting to be a heavy shelf. Not sure if this is on President Nelson or others but the buck has to stop on the President. I have no confidence in our leaders in SLC at this juncture and can now see why we are fracturing as a church. Zion cannot be built with the house of cards. Nevertheless, I sustain these leaders which means when they do good and if they fail or error I will support reconciliation. One last thought. What is this “proud of” pride statement? Proud of pride? Am I living in another universe when pride is good? I was asked to be a contributor and supporter of Prop 8 which was a difficult thing to do. We sacrificed ourselves for this and now feel we did it in vain and we are now the bad guys with respect to Aaron’s tweets. This is crazy and until we all state the concern to our leaders we will see more digression away from the doctrine and order of our faith.

Pride… interesting that this is what stands for this movement. It is without a doubt one of the deadliest sins of our times. As we are standing by the apostles and prophets that lead our church… we always have to check the state of our hearts. Are they hardened or soft. As long as we are searching for truth… if we keep our hearts soft… we may find ways to allow leeway in others actions. As long as we never let go of the core doctrines of the gospel and always seek guidance from the spirit… we should be able to navigate thru confusion… and the mists of darkness that continually crop up ❤ Thanks for your perspective… it helps all of us feel less alone in that search for truth

My fellow brothers and sisters, as tough as it can be trying to make sense of these social issues within our own church, remember to stay on the covenant path. It’s never been more clear to me that our faith and testimonies are being tested than in these last days. Remember, the Lord and His Church will never be defeated. Defeat only happens if we choose to allow our testimonies to fail. The Lord is very aware of His Church. He is aware of each and every one of us. I have no doubt we are living the parable of the wheat and the tares. We will not survive spiritually on our own thoughts and pride. We must trust in the Lord and listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance to weather this worldly storm. I plead with those who question the current events happening within the Church, to have patience and faith that it will all be fine in the end. Remember how the jab and masking caused huge rifts. (We were ostracized for not going along- because our son is seriously ill with Crohn’s from a parasite he picked up on his mission- and our docs said no shots for our household- members thought we were not following the prophet etc) And I think that was a simple test. It is definitely a test. Those who delve deeply into the scriptures (particularly Isaiah and the Book of Mormon) will discover that the answers are there. God has not left us without a guidebook. The scriptures are full of prophesies of the last days, and what is happening to the church right now is part of it. This is a big part of what the parable of the ten virgins is about. Only those who “have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived” (D&C 45:57) will make it to the wedding. To receive the truth, you must search the scriptures like your life depends on it, as well as pray and take the Holy Spirit as your guide. The scriptures say that the Lord's judgment will begin at His house. The Lord takes the covenants we make with Him seriously, and when we fail to keep our covenants, we bring curses upon ourselves. We tend to talk about all the blessings that come with covenant keeping, but we ignore the fact that throughout the scriptures, those who reject their covenants are cursed.

I think it’s going to come down to follow the Savior as more and more decisions by the FP and Q12 blur our traditions that we thought were doctrine but might become policy changes. Listen to the Spirit and follow Him. Come what may. The church is a tool to come unto Christ. I’m old. I keep telling myself to keep my covenants, no matter what stuff changes in the church. The Lord will judge the leaders and remove them if they go too far off course. They may be doing these things to save suicidal youth or something else we don’t understand. Faith is needed more than ever in history. More every day I understand why President Nelson said that in coming days-not years-we will not survive spiritually without the guiding, comforting, and directing influence of the Spirit. “Survive” is a chilling word.
