Walk - LDS Comms Director, Good People, Bad Ideas and Sustaining 

Greg, we appreciate you attempting to address these issues. This hiring is very distressing and painful to see. I am growing weary of attempting to defend the Church against these strange occurrences to conservative members who are leaving the Church. I am getting tired of trying to convince them that the Church is on the right track. I am never going to depart from what I know to be true. I have an unshakeable testimony of the Restored Gospel, but every time something like this happens, I become more deflated and less excited about sharing the Gospel. I must be honest.

Feel like the Church is leaving me behind. I've felt this way since President Nelson's appointment. I have had a lot of late, sad and lonely nights. But by the next morning I tend to remember that the direction I am facing is more important than how fast I am moving. Am I facing the Lord? Am I at least moving toward him? Yes, and yes. Now get up, get dressed, go to church, and fulfill my callings and ministry. I will see what the Lord has in store for me and my place in His Kingdom in His perfect timing.

It’s the wheat and the tares. If you remember when Christ returned to the tiny group of Nephites, he told them you were basically the least worse people. When the prophet speaks and says abortion is a abomination but we hire someone who facilitates and works for abortions . I have to think what the heck is going on.

I have Christian friends who have told me their congregations have announced that the Mormon church has gone woke. Even if this is only pockets in the country, it’s still no bueno.

Your opinion is right on... I agree with your opinions nearly 90% of the time, I think pastor Jeff is using you, but other than that, your RU-vid channel is so important to so many of us that have similar opinions but not having the platform you do they are unsaid... Thank you again.

Brother Aaron Woke is ALREADY causing massive amounts of harm to the church. Many church members are already very upset and frustrated about this. Some of you don't think he should be fired, but if it was my decision it would happen immediately, if not sooner. Every day he is in that position, more and more serious damage will be done. For what possible reason would we want him to continue??

Thanks for all you do Greg! I don't have time to study critical theory like you do. Unfortunately, I have a wife and other family situations that make the level of study you are performing very difficult. That being said, I have studied the history of this country, the Gospel itself, very intensely I might add, Recently, as I've made aware on this channel, we are dealing with some serious family trials. Understand though, I've watched you long enough, and people like Jacob Hansen and the Ward Radio guys that keep me informed of a myriad of subjects. Because I've listened for so long, maintained my activity in the church, and kept up on important political subjects, I trust you. You and I see the world very much the same way. I see myself as being very orthodox in my religious beliefs. I also see myself as one who should be carrying on the legacy of my forefathers. I'm directly related to so many pioneers and early church members that this legacy is always in my head to help keep me pointed in the right direction. My 6th great-grandfather is Joseph Knight; one of the individuals listed to have felt the plates under the cloth. He also provided Joseph and Oliver with food and paper so they didn't have to stop the translation to go work for supplies. My 5th great-grandmother is Phoebe Draper who the city of Draper was named after along with her brother. The first settlers of Maricopa County, AZ were also relatives. Philemon C. Merrill is a direct ancestor, along with many others. I'm so thankful for what they did. The least I can do is maintain my faith and participate in the gathering of Israel. My family and I appreciate all of your work with your channel and keeping us informed and providing insight. Through your commentary it never crossed my mind that you were suggesting or saying anything negative about the gospel, your points were valid and needed to be asked. Keep it up!

We are not the ones doing all of these questionable things . I have had to ignore and put so many things in the shelf and ignore things that are questionable these past 5 years or so.. that i am just weighted down by the heaviness of it all. That is not how it ever was for the past 50 years.. since I joined in 74..at age 17. I am not alone in my feelings about this. The strongest and most active dedicated members out here are left confused by much of this. We need to stop trying to pacify the world.

Greg, I have been listening to you for a long time. I think your approach handles thè topic it with Grace and Faith. We are truly in the time prophesied when the Saints would have to rest on their own testimonies and their own relationship with Jesus Christ. I pray that the faithful members of the church do not shrink during these times. One cannot expect celestial blessings without celestial trials of faith and absolute trust in the Lord. My father taught me at a very young age the principal of spheres of influence. And that it is our responsibility to watch over the things that we have been put in charge of and allow the Lord to work with those in spheres that we are not responsible for. This is a classic example of that principle. Hoorah for Israel!!!

I’m addressing this up the chain, starting with my Bishop and Stake President. It’s unacceptable that someone with beliefs contrary to the gospel could be hired to such an influential position. I won’t remain silent any longer.

I have always thought that what Paul said about "Grievous Wolves" referred to those outside the church... the last 3-5 years have made me think otherwise. I am convinced that many inside the church are the very thing Paul was referring to. Maybe I am just late to the game.

Why indeed would he remove social media posts AFTER the announcement of his hiring? There is 0% chance that his social media wasn't scrutinized as part of the hiring process. Everything he publicly posted passed muster somehow. Now it's a liability. That doesn't bode well for the future transparency of "communication".

Just another gut punch to me in a series over the last five years. My wife and I will cling to our covenants, the restored gospel and the words of the lord Jesus Christ. Don’t have much confidence in any arm of flesh

This is why our testimonies should be based on the gospel, not members of the church, or church culture. But Like Greg is saying, these ideas are seeping into the church corporation, and it needs to be pointed out.

I wonder how many young adult members will look at the Church Communications Director's pro-trans, pro-gay agenda and say, "Obviously, the 1st presidency is good with this stuff, so I should be too." Is that the message the church wants to send?

I can be patient with and even extend leniency to faithful members who may not fully understand some doctrine here and there. We're all learning. I struggle, however, to do the same for those who push ideas that run contrary to the doctrines. Especially when it's doctrines that the brethren have taught and clarified in the most plain ways possible. That is, by definition, apostasy. And yes, I believe apostates should not be considered for employment by the church. I've worked for a company owned by the church for 20 years and have seen employees lose their bishop's endorsements and consequentially their jobs simply for not attending sunday meetings. They may have been weak in testimony but haven't gone as far as publicly contradicting doctrine.

I hope those who are distressed by this direction will stay in the church and strengthen it, and not allow it to be weakened by their departure. The day may come when we will be called upon to testify against the infiltrators.

Greg, I believe you are one who has your head on straight and I appreciate the issues you bring up. Most all who are exercised about inclusion, equity and other woke attitudes truly believe they are saving the Country, improving the Church, etc. None of that will change unless the Brethren see fit to make definitive and unambiguous statements against the place these ideologies have within the Church. Until then, it’s up to people like you and me to continue to call it out and to reject it. Like the other side, we too absolutely believe in the values we espouse and and feel a need to fight against those things that will devalue the ultimate message of the Church which is the restored Gospel of Christ.

What are we supposed to do? I feel so lost. I am beyond converted to the gospel. I’m just perplexed that a man like this, in his expansive position, is allowed in this role. It’s confusing to those who are convinced that the doctrine is going to change. It’s confusing to those of us who are grasping the iron rod and defending our faith. We have been cautioned to avoid any hint of condoning or advocating for things that do not align with the doctrine of the church. And the church hires a man who is doing exactly that? Fortunately, I have yet to hear our leaders supporting this ideology. That is what we need to hold to. For anyone confused, please listen to Elder Holland’s talk, “The Cost and Blessings of Discipleship.” It clearly points us in the right direction.

I thought the message was " Do what is right let the consequences follow". So no, you do not have to sustain what is wrong, and leaders that go astray. They did all through the scriptures, and there's no reason to think that they won't do so in this day. The church may never be taken from the earth again, but it doesn't mean that their brethren won't go down the wrong path. But hopefully this will turn out to be nothing in the end, and wisdom will prevail

Thanks Greg for mentioning context. I brought up the situation with this hiring to my family and they are just clueless to the context and background. They became immediately defensive and brought up this as trouble being made by conspiracy minded folks. The real problem is, when being inside and standing up for concerns or just confusion, the culture usually in the church is to automatically defend without any understanding of the reason for concern. The culture of “follow the prophets” is deep and has mistakenly created a blind allegiance that is problematic for any side taken. I was part of the prop 8 efforts we were asked by the church to assist in. I find this being in complete conflict to the belief and activism this individual supports. This is confusing to any member that is aware of DEI and critical theory and we are not getting answers from our leadership to address our concerns. Wish actual GA’s could speak and address these concerns in a open way. It feels for awhile the leaders hide behind the PR curtain and it just seems there is disingenuous things that are occurring. However, to many the narrative is shut up and be obedient. Not feeling the church is transparent when they should be. I’m feeling the spiritual pandemic and I’m a grandpa at that. The church is changing in a way I don’t recognize. Not apostasy per se but just a silo of privilege and leaning to modes of operation that feel progressive and driven by leftist propaganda and ideology. Sherry Dew at Deseret Book seems to be a suspect of the wokeist direction and now this? The trajectory is becoming clear. And if this is what are leaders are asking us to defend they need to explain in a big way. Otherwise, what the heck were we doing in the prop 8 situation when it apparently doesn’t matter. Was the church wrong then and it was just a Monson thing? Wow, if we are not confused we then must be ignorant because this is becoming clearer and clearer of what the GA’s are navigating our culture to.

Thank you Greg for standing firm. The scriptures and the prophets have both taught us that we must build a firm foundation on the rock of our Redeemer. Without a testimony in Christ and his Gospel we will not be able to survive spiritually in the days ahead. We can see this happening all around us and it is gut wrenching to see our family members and friends lose their faith in the gospel. We have even more trials coming in the days ahead. We have to decide where and what we stand for. I am not the judge of my family members, friends, neighbors, or strangers. I do not know what is in their heart. It is tragic that people cannot distinguish between beliefs that are true or false. We sometimes live and act based on our false beliefs. Doing so harms our relationships with God and others. I have always seen you as 100% firmly supportive of our Church Leaders and of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You’ve always been clear on that.

I'm left to wonder, in retrospect, how you would report on the Hoffman debacle, as it was happening. From the outside, this is pretty clear stuff. The Comm. Director, for the entire organization is a Senior Executive VP type position that is hired by the CEO level leadership. In this case probably the Presiding Bishopric, which handles the day to day administrative tasks of the Corporate Church. At some point I'd start questioning any claims of discernment.

No one is disputing that Aaron sherinian is a child of God, we are disputing that he should be communications director for the whole chirch, or really an employee of the church at all. It is ridiculous and evil that it's happening.

Our times are no different than the ideologies that crept in and took over the Children of Israel. And sadly, this is only going to get worse. Spiritual pandemic is so true!

Proposition 8 in California, cemented in my mind this one phrase: Marriage is between a man and a woman. Many outside of CA did not have the honor of following the prophet (Monson) in giving everything to promote the Yes on Prop 8 campaign. And we won. So when I read that the new comms director advocates for marriage equality, I doubt he lived in California in 2008. Keep up the good work Greg.

I'm usually somewhat averse to listening to members of the church (that are not officially serving as a General Authority) talk about political, cultural, or church policy issues, because I feel like many in that realm are flirting with apostasy. When I came across one of your videos a few years back I was initially suspicious, but I quickly found that you were different. I have never once heard you speak against the core doctrines of the restored gospel and I see nothing but unwavering support of the prophets and apostles from you. Your voice has become incredibly important, because it's a message that our General Authorities can't always or maybe even shouldn't address head on (as much as I sometimes wish they would). Instead, they will continue to teach the pure doctrines and principles of the gospel, which when properly understood and applied, go in direct contrast to the religion of academia you warn so much about... and that we are sadly seeing seep into certain branches of the church. But I firmly believe that the foundation of our church (prophets and apostles) will never deviate from Christ, because this is His church. Hold fast to the rod everyone, because the mists are absolutely getting thicker. Thanks, Greg, for filling this "calling" of yours and standing up for truth, while inspiring the rest of us to do the same.

My concern in for me, my family and my neighbors. I have sorrow for those he leave their covenants and begin to attack the church. Revisit the Gospel regarding Sodom and Gomorrah… when LDS individuals make excuses for sin and encourage others to embrace such sinful behaviour we are ushering in another Sodom and Gomorrah… I agree that we must be patience, sustain our leaders and wait for the outcome of this Brother’s appointment however, having researched his activities, I feel we need an explanation… why remove posts at this point .. we need to know what this Bothers intentions are for the future .. I know without doubt that what is happening in the world today is promoted and sustained by Woke culture .. the only way Communism can take a country is my weakening moral standards … Stalin said if we give young people what they think they want ( after persuading them to chose evil over good ) then he could take the country … While those of us who protest against what is happening today, we set out to strive personally to obey Father’sCommandments, we also strive to maintain His Commandment by protecting His Gospel and standards found there in.. otherwise ,another Sodom and Gomorrah and all of the sadness that brings into people’s lives… far better to strive to protect others from embracing sinful behaviour than to cheer them on down that slippery slope ..

I agree with one of the other comments on here that was made previously, we can't ignore the politics. We have to take a stand with our words and our interactions. They must be in sync with each other and in harmony. You have an episode I haven't watched yet why people are leaving the church, but I have to say with the church's support for the vaccine an relying uoon false data and information. yheir discernment comes into question for the pressure they put members at both Ricks BYU & BYU Provo as well at the church office building and on members at the Tabernacle Choir and other entities associated with the Church that members coukd attend or participate in getting thr vaxx. Some of the Apostles mocked members of the church about getting the vaccine. They stopped people from going to church for a time and then went along with this corruption that we're finding out that's been corrupt about COVID-19 from day one especially by Dr fauci. All these things add up and need to be weighed and measured through personal revelation and discernment; but I have to say that the Church is leadership. I cannot sustain their support for these bad ideologies and their bad hiring practices and fir not taking a stand on keeping Commandments of god more strict. Nephi warned that corruption would contaminate the people of thr Church in the last days. Moroni said I see you're (our) doing. I Absolutely believe in the gospeland refuse to throw the baby out with the bathwater. You're a good soul Greg, I appreciate your faithfulness and your goodness. I can feel that from your videos.

Man, I get more of a pit in my stomach every day I see something on this guy. I don't understand how one can be sustained as a Bishop and push New Age doctrine as secularism.

I have the same opinion as you, and I know a lot of other people, I believe in the proclamation of the family, and I will never turn from that, or the scriptures, or our Prophet, and General Authorities. I know that our Heavenly Father lives and Jesus is our Savior and is always reaching out for us to come to him. And in these hard times if we pray always, keep the commandments and our covenants, we can hopefully protect ourselves in these trying times. I found your channel mid last year and glad I follow you. I appreciate social media as a means to hear topics that are current and impactful especially regarding what's going on in the Church. I think if our foundation is solid the winds of "change" pushed upon us will grow our roots deeper in the restored gospel truth or uproot and wisk us away. We shouldn't fear even though some things become uncomfortable, confusing, or not making sense. I like to believe it will be resolved. I agree with your views and being aware and see your voice as a means for many to hear and share that awareness. Thank you.

You may not care what his politics are, Greg, but I'll bet you he supports much of what is coming from the Left. How long before his "politics" become part of his job as Communications Director!

What is the point of being aware if we don't act or speak up? If I were to write a letter to someone and express my disappointment at this hire, am I being faithful to the doctrine but unfaithful to the Brethren? It's aggravating even to have to think about these questions. If I'm not going to speak up, then I might as well be ignorant because it would be less distressing.

I'm sure he was instructed to remove those individualized controversial beliefs because whatever is on their pages others can use those things to claim that those opinions are also those beliefs of the church.

I have never hesitated to pay my tithing… till now. I have the money set aside but I haven’t given it to the church for a few months. I know that the church is working with the UN and hiring guys like this and now I don’t know what to do.
