The CE 6in Recessed with Night Light feature is AWESOME and extremely user-friendly. Highly recommend these! I've seen them at The Home Depot. Thank you for the informative video.
Totally agree! I have them in my downstairs and love them. Here is my review video for that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G_Cds41Yg0s.html
Great video. I have a problem with my Utilitech 3 in 1 Recessed Downlight you use in your video. I have a Lutron dimmer switch on my installation and you cannot quickly turn the light on and off, it turns on, then when you press off, the lights dim until they go off. When you turn them back on, I get random patterns of night light and downright. The 5 second trick does not work. Ideas? I really want the dimming feature because they are in my media area of the basement.
@deblyle thanks for your question. I am afraid that I have a few questions for you. First, what do you mean the 5 second trick does not work? If you turn off the switch and wait an actual 5 seconds, do the lights not turn all back to main spot light? Second, which dimmer specifically do you have? Lutron dimmers are great dimmer, but which model do you have?
Thx for this video. I got the Commercial one. What I am hesitant about is those clips. If I want to change the light setting or worst case swap it out, how will this work with this clip? The spring clips are easier and I have done light color changes on a few that I have (different Commercial light). If u can tell me it's easy also to remove this light I will go for it. Else maybe time to go to Lowes.
And you should be hesitant. I hate that they changed their clip design. You can get the light out by pushing it to the side so that you decompress two of the clips and then pull it down. But it is not nearly as user friendly as the long spring clips that I show.
How does a dimmer impact the performance of the Commercial Electric? ? Does the halo dim when it is on? Can you turn on both the halo and the bulb at once?
If you use a dimmer switch with either of these lights, you will be able to dim the main light and the halo light. You can not turn the main light and the halo on at the same time. Even though my customer did want a dimmer with these, I also have them in my house and personally feel that a dimmer is overkill here. When I need full light I use the main lights. When I want low light, like when we are watching tv I switch to the halos. But that is just my personal preference. Thank you for watching. These are so cool! Only question I have is do you have to toggle the light switch every time you turn it back on again? Say you leave the room and turn off the lights, do the nightlights come on next? Or is the only way to turn on the night light feature to toggle fast? Thanks!
You have to do it right away. I can confirm that the Utilitech has a 5 second window to do so, and I think that the Commercial Electric is the same. This is important because if the lights get out of sync, like if someone was to flip the switch on off on off on really quick, then if you just wait and turn them off they will go back to the main light. Neat! I think I like the night light ring option for my man cave led retrofit. My 20 Can lights will be on a dimmer, however the night light ring option is cool for ambiance
What did you do with the color adjustable light with the three tabs.. how did you get it to securely hang inside the recessed can (I have the same light and wondering this too)?
Well, these can light housings were square, so they do not fit in there. I was able to barely get it to hand there and not fall out. So, they went back to the store. But, in a regular round can light housing they will hold pretty tightly. I hope that answers your question. Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
These are designed to go into cans. There are very few canless ones with the Halo ring. I couldn't find any at Lowe's, this is the only one that I found on Amazon. www.amazon.com/Mounight-Selectable-Ultra-Thin-Can-Killer-D6JB14W2K-6/dp/B09QLWVPJB?content-id=amzn1.sym.7b5f0573-1149-4451-addb-8640516ad081%3Aamzn1.sym.7b5f0573-1149-4451-addb-8640516ad081&crid=12S674Y4PH3XK&cv_ct_cx=recessed%2Blighting%2Bhalo&keywords=recessed%2Blighting%2Bhalo&pd_rd_i=B09QLWVPJB&pd_rd_r=c680ab2c-dac1-49e8-902d-f6bcc65f4be4&pd_rd_w=kDjGH&pd_rd_wg=IbeBI&pf_rd_p=7b5f0573-1149-4451-addb-8640516ad081&pf_rd_r=R0222XR1CZ2RTW1AZFPT&qid=1665491541&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjY5IiwicXNhIjoiMy4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjIuNzIifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=recessed%2Blighting%2Bhalo%2Caps%2C114&sr=1-1-27ba7c8b-4ccd-4740-99bc-12e677c1bbb6&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=c8d4e8f993f9ce95c950a659be3d2633&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
To my knowledge, the fixture needs to be IC rated and with these LED's they will keep it IC rated. Now I am not an IC rating expert, but I think the wrong bulbs will cancel out the IC rating of the can fixture. So, of course I can't tell not knowing your exact can fixture. I would recommend contacting the manufacturer and getting that info from them. Even though LED lights themselves are much cooler then incandescent, and especially halogen, some of their transformers can get pretty warm.
Turn the switch on and you get the normal can light. Turn the switch off and then back on and you get the halo. Hopefully that answers your question. Here is another video on that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G_Cds41Yg0s.html
Is there a trick to get the Utilitech lights to all get in sync? We currently have them on a dimmer switch and three-way switch and when turned on, some will be on main light and some on the halo light. Is there something we can do differently to help them all sync up?
The Utilitech will reset to the main light after being off for 5 seconds. I have tested this myself. I can't quite tell from your description if that would help or if they will still be out of sync. If that didn't help let me know and tell me what I missed.
@@AroundTheHome1 thank you for the quick reply!! They all sync up when I switch them off for 5 seconds, but when I toggle the switch to turn on the halo lights, they get out of sync again. Would you suggest trying to get rid of the three-way switch? Or is the dimmer switch the problem?
First, you are welcome. I try to answer all my comments at least once a day. Ok, now for your switches. I am leaning more towards your dimmer. Do you know specifically what kind it is?
I might suggest a different dimmer. These lights can definitely act up with some dimmers. I find that the Lutron Dimmers are more compatible with all these new LED lights. This one is my favorite. www.homedepot.com/p/Lutron-Sunnata-Touch-Dimmer-with-LED-Advanced-Technology-for-Superior-Dimming-of-LED-Incandescent-Halogen-Bulbs-White-STCL-153PH-WH/311593251
There are tons of homes with can light fixtures. This is a great update. Now if you are adding lights, then sure, go canless. Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
