Those back stories she all says are true. Alter is what I think everyone single alter in one form. Alter keeps altering her backstory because they’re true in the dimension she is in. I feel like she is some alternate version of horizon, maybe something happens when she time travels and alter is born, it might explain her name being an ALTERnate version of horizon.

Personally, one thing I liked about the trailer while I was watching it with a friend was that it reminded us of two totally different things: for me it reminded me of the Doomfist animated announcement trailer from the first Overwatch, while for him it reminded of opening scene of the first Kung Fu Panda. However, I hypothesize that thanks to her particular look Alter could have interesting skins and have many fans given her crazy characterization and unreliable backstory.

those other backstories were not lies. She probably has the ability to travel to different dimensions/timelines and those backstories are her from other dimensions/timelines. She stands in a broken dimension/timeline at the end of the cinematic and she says "every person in EVERY WORLD asks me the same question". Also she has been summoning a parallel version on Olympus in the game, you can see it if you look into the distance outside the map. There is a theory that she is subject 0 from Wraiths backstory.

The thing is alter IS a multiversal traveller. So the backstories she told are more likely possible. She could have lived as bloodhound or being trained as a assasin.

Macro she is an interdimensional traveler. Meaning that all backstories are true to an extent, like the bloodhound one. In that demension she must have killed or taken the place of the orignal bloodhound therfore ALTERing the original timeline. Every new demension she enters its lie starting a new life.
