Today I drive and review a 2023 Lexus IS 500 F Sport! Learn How To Save Time And Money The Next Time You Buy A Car: benjaminhardy.podia.com/learn... Second Channel: / @thebenhardyshow Instagram: ben_hardypl Facebook: @benhardycar
Who cares if it's not as fast as bmw! Are you in a fast n furious race or something? On a race track? No! 95% of the time you're risking getting a ticket or stuck in traffic. This lexus is the best for reliability and fun
How’s your Scion holding up? 2020 M3 Comp owner and I enjoy my BMW. If you like the Lexus, that’s your opinion. 99 percent of the BMW haters do so because they can’t afford one….
@@Bad_Company666the M3 is at least 80k new, and I can find '22 and even '23 models with around 6k miles for about $65k here... $15k depreciation in a year? Yikes 😬 Meanwhile, an IS500 is $60k new, and even with 20k miles it still sells for over $50k. You do you, but IS500 buyers usually have the budget for either car; they just pick the smarter choice.
@@Bad_Company666BMW is the most overrated car and there isn’t much value. Basic ass interiors with shitty leather, so much plastic under the hood where there’s always a problem with the motor. Cost of ownership is high and it depreciates extremely fast and overall causes way more problems in the long run.
@billb3551 as someone who used to only by BMW, all I can say is what once was a great drivers car brand is no longer, as an IS500 owner I truly believe lexus has taken that crown, although who knows for how long as the 2ur gse isn't long for this world. BMWs used to be raw, analog vehicles but in the last 10 years they've basicay become just another Audi brand, all about numbers and but no thought given to emotion. Imo they've lost all emotion that used to be what the brand was about. The IS500, and RCF are IMO the last analog vehicles in the sports luxury segment, (that cost under 100 grand anyways)
This would make a gread Daily Driver, even though I live in a snowy state, we don't get as much snow as we use to, and the state does such a good job of plowing that the main streets are clear within one day, plus, you can DRIVE REAR WHELL DRIVE CARS IN THE SNOW, I have done that many times with performance tires on, just put on snow tires if you're really worried about it and you should be able to get around just fine
I agree that a manual option would have been amazing, but seeing as they would have to have developed one from the ground up it was never gonna happen. That being said the transmission really isnt bad, its phenomenally smooth when crusing around but it livens up alot when you start driving hard. When your on it and let it rev out it shifts just as fast as any ZF tranny I've owned.
Great review Ben! As someone who owns the IS500 launch edition, I have been cross shopping a 2023 Porsche Macan GTS. I know they are not overly similar, but both are smaller highly performance oriented small family friendly vehicles. Having driven both of these, what are your thoughts on the two? Obviously I would be coming out of pocket about another 30k or so to get the Porsche. We have always been Lexus fans for reliability and comfort, but something about that P car is intriguing….Still hard to beat that NA V8 though!
Beautiful car! The price point is amazing for what you’re getting and at the end of the day you have a peace of mind knowing the car will start in the morning unlike a BMW
Comparing this to an M3 isn't right. It's priced close to an M3 but performs less than a Kia Stinger. I love the exterior and the engine is a gem but the interior is kind of garbage these days. If they updated the transmission to actually complement the engine, and overhaul the awful infotainment system, it would be much better. Right now, it's one of the priciest ways to have a slower than average V8. Basically $90k in Canada, yikes.
Compromise or pros and cons are apart of life. Sacrifices. I believe the proportions of the is500 is great. I’ll sacrifice rear room for that. But wih it was the same weight as n ISF
For those of you looking for a is350 or a is500 take my advice I own a 22 is350 tuned AWD, it is not worth it there is better cars then theses for cheaper and more luxurious it looks good that’s the only reason why I bought it but then after one year or ownership I see why people trading it in
@@venictos i own my 22 is350 AWD for a year after owning it I’m trading it in for a bmw m340i or either a Audi RS3 or a m3 comp sorry but Lexus isn’t all that tbh after owning it even with the mods I have it’s still slow it’s a good looking car that’s why I bought it but performance isn’t for me I might make a video of the cons and pros about the Lexus is350
@@95Ldunc No, the thing is my job is in a bad area plus it is in a crowded parking lot, I am sure a nice car like this will be fked by the second week of me having it, so leasing will not do me good.
@@SeemeonMars Yeah I actually would need to invest into a house in the near future. Seems like the most ideal thing now is to just buy a used reliable Toyota and then finish my university, and then use some of that money to grow out my online business either through branding or website development.
I'm 73, and like you I hugely regret Lexus' decision to offer sports sedans with dumbed-down automatics. I've been driving a '13 Golf-R 6-speed since new, and had seriously considered an IS-350 F-SPORT with RWD, but that transmission is a put-off. So, a MK8 Golf-R with the DSG may be in the cards now. Good review, btw.
Come on Ben! This Lexus is stock (2k for tires option) and is 10k less for the M3. But for the 10k with the BMW (stock) you get a MANUAL (no need for Lexus paddle shifters)...with the RELIABLE inline 6. I'll take that any day. Also I've seen the M3 (and M4) in person and the hood makes the grills on each work. The Lexus does look good though. Just my opinion, of course. There's a reason Car and Driver has the M3 at the top of the segment. 🤷♂️
I'd take it over the BMW anyday. Number 1 I'm a toyota fan. They are my favorite auto maker. And Lexus is just a more expensive toyota. So we know the longevity and reliability will be there with this car where as with the BMW, once you get to 100k miles. After that good luck. It will be in the shop, I'll bet on that. BMWs are nice until you pass 100k. After that hard telling what's going to happen.
Oh no, not this again. How can an M3 be overpriced and overrated when talking about this car when the M3 wipes the floor with this car? Don’t you know all the Lexus apologists say this car competes with the M340i? They don't have the 10 speed in this car because it's so ancient that it would require some major engineering underneath to accommodate it. Same reason why the IS350 AWD can't get the 8-speed, same reason why AWD IS models were stuck with a hump in the driver side trans tunnel. Old ass car that can't support much in the way of newer hardware, but hey it's reliable.
I dnt get it. M340i is made in Mexico. I wrk for Porsche and I’m in and out of GT3 RS 992’s and Panamera GTS’s and I dnt see where this is outdated ? I dnt u sweat and what people mean? The PDK speed and delivery is in another league but everything else interior wise is better materials on buttons and switches . That’s it
@@MercOne It's not old as dirt. The interior was updated in 2021 to have a touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, new dashboard, and new interior door panels. The screen actually looks every bit as good as the screen in my wife's BMW. The seats are probably best in class outside of the Ms and Blackwings of the world. I have nothing to complain about except maybe the fact that there's not a great spot to put my phone.
@@ARentz07 He would have to be totally clueless to say that about an M3 vs a M340i and I don’t he is or is trying to say that. He’s trying to say the IS500 makes the M3 irrelevant and nothing could be more false.
@@youtubeistrash-_- That's an old tale, used to ridicule the older iterations of M3.. Compare a 2022 is500 Vs a 2022 M3 competition, then I guess u will drop that plastic obsolete line Yea I know the lexus has better durability over the bimmer..
@@mannegar7650 Not an old tale if it's still the case 🤔 and if you're talking about interior the Lexus still wins. Brand new german cars from factory already having creaks and rattles. I was talking about under the hood where there is bmw plastic galore. Only redeeming quality of bmw is that straight 6 and zf 8 speed. But for speed yes, the bmw blows doors off lexus.
@@albertatundra You are right in terms of reliabililty. However, the performance of the s58, chassis, technology, and transmission of the M3 is leagues ahead of the IS500.
