Nice one. Another thing is that after you select the cog on the mppt controller then click on the 3dots on the top again and change the name of your controller to something making sense. I use my boat name them voltage/ amperage which helps when you have different voltage or amp controllers. Don’t rely on that Daly to give you correct SOC they are horrible at counting small amp charges and discharges. Use a nice Victron smart shunt to give you real readings.

Hi. As you are producing the very best Dutch sailing channel since years, my guess is that it should not be too difficult for you to convince Victron to provide you with free of charge devices. Over time you will see that you wish you had all Victron equipment instead of mixing up different brands. Thats the way I went an I can only recommend it. I paid for it, as I do not run any YT channel. Good luck and regards from Switzerland, Silvano

Thanx for your kind words, Silvano! 😊 About Victron - only our batteries and panels are not Victron. But there is a big chance that Victron uses the same brand cells in their batteries. Because they are all from China. And the panels we bought from the largest Victron dealer, who told us the Victron panels were not worth the extra money. Happy greetings from the Balearics!

Thanks for this Video! I also upgraded to lithum on my Dean 365. I installed a 50 A DC to DC charger at the starboard alternator to charge my lithum house battery in bad weather conditions. That works without any problems. My Dean 365 SV Enjoy is still in the caribean and until now it wasn't necessary but it is a good solution. I placed the batterys in a dry storage compartment in the starboard aft cabin. Ricky from SV Lady Africa (also a dean 365) recommend that because corrosion should be the killer for that new battery systems. He is the most professionel guy that i know for yacht energy systems. I installed also the dc to dc charger and the mppt solar charger in the same storage compartment. The start battery is still in the middle hull compartment like yours. Enjoy your new power boatlife and the coffee in the morning! :)

Hi! Lithiums are great, huh?! :-) Yeah, I remember that Ricky placed them over there. We chose for the middle compartment because the old batteries where there, and all the cables where there. And it's very close to our solar regulators and Multiplus, as you probably have seen. But yes, I agree that the drier the placement, the better. And I can easily reach them when something is wrong. By the way, do you have a website or RU-vid channel? Curious about your 365! Greetingz, Wim

@@DoubleUThings i have a youtubechannel fastwatersports. But there is nothing about the dean online. I have upload some videos of my panamericana road trip there. I like to do a film abaut the dean next sailing season but not sure if i will find the time for that.

It was fun watching you work and I enjoyed your running commentary. Very nice system! The next time you need to work on your batteries, you might think about cleaning all the corroded terminals with scotch bright pad, then clean with rubbing alcohol, and then coat all contact surfaces with anti-oxidation paste before you reassemble. Enjoy!

Great job! I made the same setup 3 years ago, without the paralelle balancer , was not available at the time! But my two banks of batteries stay at the same voltage! Do you see really the need of that balancer?

Elke LiFePO4 cel komt uit China. Ze stoppen ze in diverse landen alleen in een eigen jasje 😊 Dus als je "made in NL/DE/USA" of wat dan ook hebt, betekent dat niet meer dan "samengesteld in NL/DE/USA" En waarschijnlijk komt de plastic accubak ook uit China 😁

Have you done anything to protect the alternator on the engine? I assume you also can charge not only by solar or shore power. Cheers.

Hi! No, those are two separate systems. The alternators just charge the starting battery, and the solar panels and Multiplus (with shore power) just charge the house batteries. No connection between those systems. Before we also had two small solar panels to keep the starting batteries topped up, but we removed those to get some more deck space (and that system was almost dead anyway). But we also have a 2.6kW generator for certain situations.

I hope so, otherwise I bought it for nothing 🙂 But to be honest, I really don't know. At the moment one of the cables is not good, so I disconnected them, but I don't see any difference...

I am sorry to tell you, but Victron is simply the best brand for this on planet earth 🙂 Yes, it is expensive, but you get what you pay for. We have used it for 4 years, fulltime living on our boat, and it never had let us down. Next project (we sold the boat) will have only Victron again. Except the LiFePO4 batteries, because there are cheaper brands with exactly the same Chinese cells in it.

You are welcome :-) They don't actively do top balances, if that is what you mean, but of course the BMS'ses try to keep all the cells balanced when normally charging. I am planning to do top balancing with a drip charger now and then, like in the video, but with big intervals.

It will be dangerous for people that follow your movie!!! Please add a warning inside the movie, that you are NOT using your alternators to charge this Lifepo4 batteries!! (you mention is in the comments, but most viewers will NOT read all the comments) ALSO there is nothing mention in this movie, about general safety's like mainfuses, main switches etc. It is very important to check also your general safetys are up to date, because lifepo4 is more powerfull as your lead acids batteries. Batteries on a boat need horizontal and vertically support also. LIFEPO4 IS NOT JUST REPLACE YOUR LEAD ACID BATTERIES

I don't have to warn people for anything, Ben. It's not a tutorial, just a video about what I did. And about the fuses and all - that's already in an earlier video, when we installed our new electrical system. And about horizontal and vertical support - We are not a monohull, so we don't sail on an angle, and if we would flip the boat (nearly impossible with this very low and heavy boat with short mast). we are toast anyway, and the batteries go nowhere.
