As a dedicated member of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) I think reviews of field dressing and skinning animals are important to reviewing knives that may be used for those jobs. Great review by both of you. Nice knife, too.
Bringing back old stuff. May help your channel with the comment in 2023- Just purchased 1 this evening. Looking forward to it and thanks for your awesome designs Chris. Still want more Bush Bat runs 😂
I don't have a regular sized Jessmuk but I own the Companion Jessmuk and I think it fills my needs perfectly. Great handle and steel! Double thumbs up Chris!!
DLT currently has 4 versions of these in stock so I was able to get one last week. This is already my best EDC fixed blade that I own due to the handle and cutting ease. Thanks for designing this knife!
I got one.. and its as advertised.. certainly a great knife.. JX6 and JX6 II follow this design (both of which I also have) and they all prove to be excellent performing knives.. kind of like a convex grind but in a different orientation to the blade.. works great!! The only problem is, I would get the regular sized Jessmuk, if there is one to buy..
Just got mine in today in the same matte black. What a beautiful blade. and the camera doesn't do the handle any justice so much nicer in hand. Want to pick up the big one in 3v, but cant find one in a color I like. hope to see a new batch all the good ones are sold out. Great job Chris
Victor Guzman very cool thank you👍! I like that better, I have the next gen with green micarta, but they came polished so I didn’t know. Do you like it, I plan on EDC ing it and bush crafting as well?
I haven't had an opportunity to use it yet. its been with doug wilson from yellowhawkcustoms.com . i should have it in the mail tomorrow. does feel good in the hand though..
Man that’s awesome! Yeah it looks like there really shouldn’t be any hotspots for bush crafting. I just ordered mine from DLT trading. I may have to get a Kydex sheath as well from Yellowhawk.
I'd been waiting for this knife since you first announced it. I got one in Green Micarta Matte to match my JX2 Jessmuk and JX6 with the same scales. Can't wait to use it on a deer this season, my JX6 did fantastic at skinning last year so I'll have to compare it to this one. Thank you for making this knife a reality.
Very cool, I really like this knife. It's versatile, the shape of the blade is great, the handle shape and length are good too. Plus, I think the Micarta looks awesome. I would love to own one of these. If I were ever planning on (or could afford) spending that much on a knife I would definitely consider buying the LTWK Jessmuk-C. You hit this one out of the park as far as I am concerned. Thanks for sharing & keep up the good work.
I bought some surgical sharp blades and those things are sharp as far as skinning but that's all its good for. For wood I bought some carving tools and started to make some wood signs"THIS WAY" "NAME'S" "EXIT" stuff like that for Christmas presents
+Scott Rowan Or you could just try AEB-L and step outside your comfort zone. Look at the size of the knife. It doesn't need that kind of strength. O1 is a perfectly good tool steel but it's nothing special. I didn't have any stainless knives, and this was the perfect candidate.
I might try it out, but I think you should consider maybe doing a run of these with a saber grind and in 3v. That would be the perfect hunting knife in my opinion. Having the nice contoured handle, with the pointy tip and edge retention of 3v, and the sweeping belly of the blade, that would be the perfect one knife for hunting.
Video ideas: with Kim Jun Un and Puerto Rico in mind, it might be time to revisit the idea of REAL preparedness. Got a basement to crawl in in case of fallout? Ready tô feed your kids in event supplies are disrupted for awhile? Can you fend off looters? Can you stay warm in winter? Got an alternative to your furnace? Health care needs? Get it?
Nice. Real nice. waiting for the fundage to build up and some other varieties to come out (maybe something like a CPM 3V / coffee bag Micarta version ;-) just an idea ). I know the wild game dressing is an issue with the crazies, but how would you guys feel about a kitchen prep segment with something like a roast or chicken (showing a quick trimming, quartering, deboning)? It's something most of us do anyway.
Love this look. One day i might be able to have one. Need to justify the cost then i can have one. Until then i am stuck with my mora's. I do have a Condor bushlore that is fun to use around camp.
What's with the pits in the steel? Not trying to be nit-picky, but my Ness from Joker is flawless and the Sandvic steel has held its edge for five months of aggressive use. To me, pits would be a turn-off for a knife, especially for the price. Great vid and I do like the exaggerated belly profile of your Jess. Quite functional either way.
Nick H Deep 6 Leather Works are u crazy? The normal one is 4.5" this one is 3.5" exactly what situation are u in where 3.5 is to small and 4.5 is to big?
If I didn't have a next gen already (which fits the bill for a knife this size), i'd probably get one. I have a full size jx2 though. We had some friendly HFT (air rifle) competition today, but the target poles came as square pegs - can't drive one into the ground, even with a hammer. So I just went and sharpened them up, and it takes a fair bit of effort to turn a 1'' by 2.5'' plank into a sharp point. About 15 minutes (and several poles done) i just had a brain malfunction, and asked myself, why the hell am I carving instead of chopping? So I just went ham and indiscriminately chopped until I got the poles sharpened - no edge damage, and still paper-slicing edge on it afterwards.
How about a 1095 or 1075 like their Bushcrafter budget edition? Sure would love one for us people who sit in the nose bleed section.....Im guessing that ain't gonna happen 🤔
AEB-L ?? Is there a comparable steel that I might be more familiar with ? I would love this in a carbon version ....Please consider a lower cost version like LT did with the Bushcrafter . Im no cost Nazi I totally think quality comes with a price just saying that a budget one would really open up the customer growth .... Heck it could even bring folks into the LT club where they might save up for the special steel versions. Is there a reason for not making more budget friendly versions other than being "steel snobs" ...😉 just sarcasm bro. Personally I have to many stainless knives and want a carbon steel premium but I can't go above $200 right now.
Ha! Doesn't matter when I get paid, my Mechanic AND my Dentist beat you to it! BUT since I can't get the First Run, that leaves more room for others! Honestly, it looks like a Damn Fine Knife. Why people can't get into the Sweep still baffles me, since almost every Steak Knife in their Kitchen has a Sweeping Tip to start their slicing of their Ribeye. Oh well, hope it sells out fast. Yeah Ohio.
+Kemal Sadikoglu I'll do more when they become available again. Jess-X was far more plentiful. Doing videos on blades that are sold out just aggravates people. There are a couple making the rounds on RU-vid. HIS Survival and Tactical have done videos.
Damn Chris awesome knife the sheath looks amazing too! They're all sold out right now but hope to get one soon! Keep up the good work brother take care....#Jessica
Would really like to see you do the new condor undertaker bowie... Looks great value for what you get but unfortunately I haven’t found any reputable reviews on it
+Dukero88 I'm going to do the Bark River Shining Mountain Bowie soon. Probably a big price difference, but it's sooooo badass! I don't really have any hookups on Condor anymore. I can't constantly buy things JUST to do a video.
Keep Out lol ok now I see why I havnt seen him do any like that I been following him for a while never heard him mention knives like that and now I know why lol ty.
I hate being poor you make such awesome knives brother hopefully one day I will own one of them but that will probably never happen really small knife and all my money goes towards bills and the kids Lol i feel bad when I spend $20 on myself I'm sorry I don't even know why I'm telling you all this I apologize and if you do read this I'm sorry for wasting your time man but you make awesome knives you really do brother if you send some out for RU-vidrs the test or if one breaks or there's a defect in one and you could send it to me oh my God I would be so happy
Actually Will, you don't review your own knife, that I purchased and happen to like. At least you haven't since its introduction. I know Chris likes to promote kydex sheath makers for different knives, I haven't seen any for the Sospes. Not a hater, I've recently purchased the Vengeful 1 and it too is a great knife. Just think your blade could use a few more reviews and exposure.
Rudy H maybe 140 max I agree. AEB-L is very cheap to buy. Flat stock nine inch long by two inch wide I can get for like 5 bucks. It's an awesome steel tho. IMO. Putting in the time/labor is what does justify the price...at 140 like most next gens.
Sadly I just found out Marshall from going gear just passed away😭 Hope his legacy lives on. RIP Marshall. I hope this is not true. I' so bummed right now. I seen this sad news on Facebook please someone tell me it' not true
Thanks. Like Chris said, there are thousands of knives, and after years i still love my litlle Nessmuk.. And true, i did not have a change to handle the Jessmukk... I'm just a Condor loyal on a low budget...
