Horizon Forbidden West will feature a menagerie of familiar and new machines. Currently, 27 machines have been confirmed to make an appearance, twelve of which are new to the Forbidden West. Machines will have expanded behaviors, and overridden machines can be commanded between different stances.

I actually think the Rollerback is based on a mix between the Ankylosaurus and an Armadillo! The sledgehammer tail and head are more reminiscent of the Ankylosaurus than our modern armadillo

yes....it can be mixed. even old one era (war) bot companies had that habit, like how a BOR7 unit is based mixed off of a lobster, squid, etc.... (disturbingly so). now back with the GAIA/HEPHAESTUS units though, a stalker for example is literally looking like a black panther, but one that I have heard from back then describes some of it's design (at least when sticking on vertical places (trees) and it's version of a cloaking capability) to be also like a chameleon. so, yeah....

I was gonna comment that too, a doedicurus because it has the featuristics of a mammal, and the armored back and tail of an ankylosaur. There is no argument, it’s definitely a doedicurus.

The model for the clamberjaws is perfect. They're just hyper aggressive and annoyingly persistent. Up there with the stalkers for the title of 'small machines I hate fighting'.

Sunwing by far became my favorite the moment you get to ride it, always wondered since hzd if we would someday override a Glinthhawk and ride it and explore the game from the air and we got the Sunwing, so yea it's my favorite, would be nice if you can use it's fighting abilities like those Lazer beams but that would be to much advantage to the player.

I just finished horizon forbidden west and right now I’m working on the dlc the burning shores and im so happy to see content like this because im a huge fan like a year ago I finished horizon zero dawn plus the dlc so keep up the good work

I see Bristlebacks as Daeodons, Burrowers as meerkats, Clamberjaws as Howler monkeys, Rollerbacks as Ankylosaurs, Shellsnappers as gopher tortoises, Slitherfangs as Titanoboas and Sunwings as Quetzalcoatlus

My fav machines on HFW are(with reason):Shellsnapper(bc I'm slow), Tremortusk (bc I'm large),Dreadwing(bc I'm always stealthy and always scanning), Burrowers (bc I have a dachshund) and my personal fav ✨Clawstriders/all kinds✨(bc I love how stealthy they run and they use their anger issues when fighting like me🤣😅)

Beautiful machines, as a PC player I feel left out from the good stuff, I tend to mod the first game to my needs tho still, so i can wait for a bit. Great review of the machines, I appreciate the entertainment 🏹

Have to say its intresting to look into the inspiration for all the machines. And its intresting to see any machines that have more than one animal used in the design. Like the Tideripper while mostly been inspired by a Plesiosaur it also has some elements like Elephant seals or Sea lions in the way it move around on land, or the Slitherfang been a fusion of Cobra and Rattlesnake and the Rollerback while mostly been an Armadilo also has a very obvious Ankylosaur like club on its tail. But personaly my favourites have to be the Sunwings and Clawstriders.

The roller back is based on the ankylosaur because of the end of the tail, because the roller back uses the tail for attack

This is almost a perfect game but there’s 3 major issues holding it back: -resource costs are too high, making endgame weapons obsolete when you run out of materials. -the player character is too slow and clunky, while the machines are way too quick and has many I-frames. Not sure how this was tested in combat at all. -there are too many places to do smithing, upgrading, and saving. It needed to be consolidated into one unit like the Shelter, instead of spamming campfires throughout the map. Hope these are resolved from HZD.

I thought the burrowers were more like minks or weasels, but otters 🦦 makes more sense. But the watcher is supposed to be a meerkat? Then if you have a Bristleback and a Watcher, you have a robot version of Timon and Pumba
