My husband of 20 years and I in our first years of dating started a low key valentines tradition- chili cheese dogs and beer. He is a chef and I’m a teacher. It’s hard to guarantee a night out - that way we could do it however late in the evening and knew we could keep it. Our kids love it!
I would love to see Ulta pick up some of these fun indie brands. I truly feel like they are more unique on color stories then some of the mainstream brands. And of course Natasha Denona would be amazing too!!!
My go to Indy brand is definitely Sydney Grace!!! I feel like their eyeshadow formula is above and beyond all the rest including ND!!! I have the Mel Thompson palette and the enduring love palette and I will keep them in my collection forever and repurchase when they get old if I can
I love my Mel Thompson palette! It makes me think of her every single time I open my drawer and see it. The color story is so beautiful and the formula really is amazing.
Just thinking of the atmosphere of the brick-and-mortar stores, I feel like Kosas just makes more sense at Ulta. The inside of the stores just seems brighter because of Ulta’s signature orange color, and they carry other lines that have bright packaging (such as Uoma Beauty).
I'd love to see Natasha Denona and Glow Recipe come to Ulta. Also, I'm hoping with Marc Jacobs Beauty reformulating and rebranding they'll be branching out into Ulta.
I love the Patrick Ta Blush duos, you can't go wrong if you pick them up, they apply flawlessly and stay well. I'll definitely pick up more shades. I use "She's That Girl" which is pink, and "She's So LA" for a bronzy-nude.
I loooove the Patrick Ta Creme and Powder blush duos! I have the holiday palette but I most of all love the single duo I have “Do We Know Her?” It’s a BEAUTIFUL apricot shade that brings light & brightness to my light skin tone!
Glaminatrix is stunning! She puts the most lovely multichromes in her palettes!! Devinah, shine by sd and Terra moons are fantastic if you’ll reach for singles!! If you love colourpop super shocks, these brands just blow them away!! I’d be super excited to see Natasha Denona and Huda at Ulta! They are what usually draws me to make the trip to Sephora, since I have an Ulta about 1 mile from my home…, but I need to go to “the mall”, or even kohl’s nowadays for my Sephora needs. (Now that it’s at Kohl’s, I do hit Sephora more often than I used too!!) the points at Ulta are pretty tough to beat!

Hands down- Adept Cosmetics makes the most gorgeous eyeshadows out of all the indie shadows I own! Sooo sparkly and add something very special to an eye look!!
I really highly suggest Lunar Beauty!! I know you mentioned before you were curious about the brand and I just tried them this last week and his shadows are AMAZING! I have the eternal eclipse and it’s such a fun twist on a neutral smoky palette.
I wish that Ulta would up their "drugstore" game. For both of my local Ulta locations they are getting rid of great brands that are affordable to make room for these new high end brands. I always enjoyed going to Ulta because they had an amazing selection of drugstore and then we would always visit Sephora for high end purchases. Walgreens/CVS just couldn't compete against the selection in Ulta but that looks like it's about to change.
I agree that they need to step up their drugstore game. Mine isn’t getting rid of affordable brands, but their selection isn’t great. My local Target and Walmart have a better selection. My local Ulta just don’t their shelf space very well. But I’m also biased cuz I can’t stand morphe and don’t understand why they have an entire row filled with product. Lol
That's a good point and I agree with you! I didn't think about the fact that it seems like a lot of the affordable brands have been leaving Ulta lately. I guess they have to make room somewhere but I didn't realize it would come at the cost of some of my favorite affordable brands.
I think the entire in-store shopping experience at Ulta needs to be revamped and modernized. When shelves are consistently picked over and the employees are not friendly or helpful, I don't feel drawn to shop in store. Almost everything I buy from Ulta is ordered online and shipped to my home or I do curbside pickup.
I'm really pleased you shared the eyeshadow palette you were wearing in this video because I was definitely loving the look. I'm kinda on a 'makeup no buy' at the moment. I've got a list going through of products I would like to get at some point. I'm also trying to make a point of wearing older eyeshadow palettes as well as new ones this year. I usually pick out a palette go wear each week and on top of that, this year I'm alternative monthly between new and older palettes in my collection.
A fave indie brand to try is Coloured Raine. Their Eyeshadows are stunning and the pigmentation is fantastic! Highly recommended as a new brand for you to try. Love the look and the video!
Favorite Indie Brands : Approachable - IBY (and they often play with Ipsy) BOLD and SHINE - Give Me Glow Colorful Colorstory - Ace Beaute Face Products - Uoma tied with Beauty Bakerie Color and Multichromes in Palettes - Odens Eye and Kaleidos both do well.
I would love Milk Makeup at Ulta. That's one brand that always interests me and I don't go to sephora so I feel like I miss out. Hope you, Brady, and baby boy are having a great first Valentines day together! 💗💗
Definitely Kaleido's, Oden's Eye & Sydney Grace! But I want to try Lois Cosmetics, they have gotten great reviews & have a new palette. (Meet Me at Midnight) They are suppose to restock their "Meet Me in the Underworld" which everyone loved!
Ooh love the eyes today 💜💜. I am super excited for Odens Eye x Hela palette! I love love the grungy greens and Angelica. I’m curious about LYS too, heard great things about their other products & the new Kosas foundation has piqued my interest too.
I can’t wait to see Ulta carry Huda, Patric Ta and Natasha Denona. This are the top three. Charlotte would be my #1 but now that Ulta will be carrying her I’m STOKE!
I just recently bought 3 new concealers (KVD, LYS, and Morphe). Obviously I do have creasing underneath my eyes, who doesn't. I like the kvd and morphe but I absolutely LOVE the LYS beauty!! It's so lightweight, I forgot I even had makeup on and didn't settle into my fine lines. I have the shade LG3.
I want the new too faced neutral palette. The formula is so good. The ColourPop rock candy is good. I'm liking their larger palettes more than the small palettes now lol. I'm waiting on my klarity palette to come.
I just got the Kosas foundation today. I love it. If I were to compare it to something it reminds me of LYS foundation. They both have that creamy serum like texture. It’s really pretty🤩
My Indie favs are Glamlite, Sugar Drizzle (gorgeous shimmers), Give me Glow, Nikkia Joy’s chrome loose eyeshadow, powder and sponge. I just bought the Oden’s Eye collab but haven’t tried it yet. Indie makeup is so much fun because their duochromes are better.
I have the club nebula palette from kaleidos and it’s amazing, the flower punk did the same on my eyes that the ABH subculture did, where there darker shades left weird spots they wouldn’t cover. Odens eye, I have a ton of their products, they are amazing. Menagerie is wonderful
I would love Ulta to pick up Natasha Denona for SURE and Patrick Ta! There point system is so much better than Sephora! I would also love ❤️ to see you film with the new large Colourpop palette!!
Love the purple eyes! Purple is my all time favorite color 💜. I would love for Ulta to get Natasha Denona and Pat McGrath. If that happens, I would rarely have to shop at Sephora and could use my Ulta points!
I would love it if I could get Ulta points when I buy stuff from Pat McGrath. Also, Sephora never packages my orders very well and every time I’ve ordered anything Pat from them it arrives broken. The store in my city is a smaller one so they don’t carry the whole line.
I just purchased the Patrick blush duo during to Sephora sale and I ended buying another one! They are now my fave blushes. They last really well under a mask too.
Those lys concealers look beautiful. The undertones look wonderful for me. There was some other concealer release I just saw and they all looked really yellow. I need a grey/pink undertone and those are harder to come by.

I pretty much only buy indie for eyeshadows, they're so much more unique than mainstream. Some of my faves are Clionadh and Terra Moons for great multichromes and shifty shadows, Glamshop makes stunning shimmers (marbles, turbo glow, and holos are my faves), Sydney Grace is beautiful, Blend Bunny has the best workhorse palettes, Glaminatrix is lovely, Nomad had great palette concepts and an easy to use formula, Give Me Glow has ultra pigmented mattes and super shiney shimmers, Oden's Eye is great (just bought Angie's palette btw), Menagerie is great, Lethal is nice, Kalidos has nice mattes and nice shimmers, Chaos Dirt has pretty sparkley shadows, and I also love Shroud's formula.

While shopping at my local Sephora recently the girl checking me out said Sephora’s getting ready to launch their own credit card that gives you 20% off if you use said card for Sephora purchases. I’m still more likely to choose Ulta because I don’t want to apply for another credit card. I would love to see Huda, Kaja, & definitely Natasha Denona at Ulta.
Oh boy…. College aged me would’ve gone INSANE with the card…. So glad I’m older 😂 granted, I always pay off my cards so it could be a great way to build credit for someone who doesn’t keep credit card debt.

Blend Bunny, Ace Beaute, Unearthly Cosmetics, Menagerie Cosmetics, I don't know if Viseart is considered indie but I really like them as well. I just did a huge pallet declutter and I am really happy on what I kept. I am a green freak eyeshadow girl so I got the Martini Pallet, Tropical Vibes Pallet, and Hela Pallet.
I feel like the too faced born this way palette is so underrated. I am a little intrigued by the new sunset palette but not enough to get it immediately
For indie shadows I love cliondah cosmetics stained glass collection (although it is one that sells out fast). Also love terra moon cosmetics. Their shimmers are really nice and sparkly and mattes are easy to use. JD glow is also really good. Specifically their shades Unexpected, Good Gawd, 365 and watermark. (Not all galaxy shadows are equal in sparkle). And also Devinah makes really nice mattes and shimmers. But also these are all single eyeshadows because for indie that’s what I love the most.
I wish Ulta would carry The Inkey List! It’s the only reason I order from Sephora these days, and I would love to be able to use the better reward system when I purchase 🛍
Those Patrick Ta blush duos look pretty, but I’ve never seen any that look super pale girl friendly. As a super pale person, it can be difficult just to “use a light hand”. I prefer a buildable/lighter option. Wish they’d add one or two more subtle options to their lineup!

Indie brands I love: Terra Moons, Clionadh, JD Glow, Gimme Glow, Shroud, Menagerie, Ace Beauté, Glamlite. I used to love Juvia’s Place, but I’m taking a break from them after their recent drama. I love that you’re trying indie brands!

I want to try everything but don’t want anything at the same time. 🤷🏻♀️ I have a lot of makeup that I haven’t used yet. I’m trying to make it a priority over buying new. I heard TF reformulated the bronzer.
Two of my favorite indie brands are Nomad cosmetics and Odens Eye. Both have amazing high quality shadows with interesting and unusual themes. I used to prefer Sephora but rarely shop there now. I much prefer Ulta for the better rewards program and the variation in brands from more economical to high end. I like being able to just shop in one place to get everything I am interested in.
