One moving day tip that I have found very helpful is to have a duffel bag packed with your pajamas, a change of clothes, a roll of toilet paper, and a toiletry bag. You could also include a towel and the sheets for your bed. This way if everything else gets lost in the shuffle of unpacking, at least you know at the end of the day you can take a shower, put on some clean pajamas and be ready to start again the next day. Good luck!

My best moving tip is to hire people to pack for you. It’s amazing how quickly they work and how carefully they pack your house. Someone has already mentioned this and I agree - have a bag packed with things you will need for the first night. A change of clothes for you and your husband, and a couple of sets of clothes for your (very cute) baby. The best parenting advice I got is that the days are long, but the years are short. My boys are 26 and 27, and it still holds true.

There's nothing like a first baby! Thank you for sharing him. You've got to give yourself grace when it comes to feeling tired and giving your body time to adjust. You both were thrust into parenthood so quickly ... Eventually you will get used to it! And when he's sleeping more, you'll get used to it too. 😁 When you start solids just start slow. I would make baby food: sometimes in batches, and sometimes just making extra of whatever we were eating. Watching them take in solids is fun!

I placed my newborn boy in December and I love hearing your updates as an adoptive mother going through the newer journey at the same time who I've looked up to long before this!! ❤️ Adoption is beautiful.

I’ve mentioned this in past comments but a few years ago I was going through a really dark time with severe anxiety and no joke, your channel is one of the few things that kept me grounded. Your kindness, your calm demeanor, your soothing voice…it really meant so much to me. Of course, I started watching for the makeup reviews but have stayed due to the fact that your strength of character radiates through the screen. What a gift your son has been given to grow up in such a wonderful family.

When we moved I used a different color duck tape on my boxes to distinguish the different rooms. It makes it easier during the unpacking to know what boxes go where.

I think adding some lifestyle to the channel is a wonderful idea 💡 To me, it’s nice to learn more about the person I spend so much time watching. Like, you’re the second RU-vidr I watch that adopted a baby in 2021. Being adopted myself I love to hear the background, reasons why, how the process went. I never remember my parents telling me I was adopted, I just always remember knowing. So they must have told me from early on but didn’t make a big fuss about it. Congratulations on the new house! And you’re almost past that no sleep phase, by 6 months they are usually rock solid with sleeping through the night. Especially when you start adding rice cereal, give him some of that and a bottle before bed and he should be good all night!

To be honest, I found your channel when I got serious about makeup 3 years ago. Now, I watch it because I love your way of reviewing products. I've come to trust your opinion. And, I love your personality. That said, I will watch your channel no matter what direction you bring it.

Adoption is so beautiful! As someone who was adopted at birth, it is so amazing!! ❤️❤️ He is so beautiful!! My parents read to us (I have sisters who are twins and they are also adopted) The Chosen Baby, they sell it used on Amazon, but it was such a great way to explain us being adopted and how wonderful it is ❤️❤️

If it isn't to invasive, I would love to see you as you set up your new home. The decisions that go into what you purchase, what style you enjoy, the colors the decor, just anything related to setting up your new environment. Congratulations on the new baby and the new house!

So happy for all the exciting changes for you and your family! I had twins and no help from my now ex-husband. The best advice I can give you is to cut yourself some slack. Parenting is hard and parental guilt is a real thing. There will be times that you feel that you are doing things wrong but you just have to know that being there for your baby and loving him is all he needs. The days are long but the years are short, especially when they are that young and need so much attention. Savor the moments and remember to take care of yourself in the process. 🥰

When I moved, we hired movers. Made it so much easier because all we had to do was pack and label. Also it did take my dog a little while to adjust but it wasn't too bad. I just made sure he had things of his in alot of the rooms and walked him around the neighborhood alot during those first few months.

I am probably one of your "older" viewers. If I can give you ANY advice about parenthood it would be to cherish every single moment you can. It goes by so incredibly fast. My two sons - I feel like I just had them and they will be 23 and 19 next month. Just enjoy every single thing about being a Mommy. It will surprise you someday how you blink and you are at his college graduation - congratulations to you and your family on your new house and all to come! :)

Your baby is so beautiful! It took us a long time to have our son - miscarriages etc - and we always said we would adopt if it didn't happen (I'm adopted myself). My son is 12 next month and we still can't believe it he is here lol. My husband's mum says you get the child you need, not the child you want. We certainly got that. My husband works in entertainment, so we have travelled the UK a lot in his lifetime. Our son never complains and is the kindest, funniest little soul who makes friends v easily. It goes by v quickly, so enjoy every second. Your baby is at a delightful age. Every stage is so different - you master one, then they move on lol. Ditch the books, go with your instincts, listen to advice, but only take it if it's right for you and your baby. And get ready for the walking stage lol. My son went from crawling straight to running 🤣. Emma x

Some stuff that worked for my daughter - she’s 3 now 😅 We started with veggies - babies are so smart and if you give them fruit first, they might not take veggies 😅 because of the sweetness Freeze veggies and fruit. When baby starts teething, these are a life savor! 👌🏻 you can create little freeze pop for them. To help with sleep - we still do this actually. We prepare a bubble bath with lavender baby soap and change her on top of a heated mat! Lowest setting - this gets her in the sleepy mood 😌

Sleeping and eating is definitely cyclic during childhood. (Child development and education major) Babies will go through a period of eating more in order to consume lots of calories and nutrients to support growth. Extra sleep happens to accommodate that growth, because it is during sleep that the body works on growing, healing, and fighting infection (this is why we feel exhausted and drained when we are sick--it's the body's way of forcing us to give it the opportunity to fight the infection). These sleep/eat cycles are approximately four to six weeks in length.

Packing: (Navy Brat), wrap breakables in linens - saves on paper, bubble wrap. Congrats & good luck.

If you can, grab empty liquor boxes from a local store as they’re great for packing heavy things like dishes (those boxes are high quality & strong). A local nursing home might have big empty boxes (ie Depends) which are great for linens, bulky light things. Reusing boxes can save so much money.

I heard someone somewhere mentioning colored duck tape for boxes so for each room you use a different color and unpacking will be easier as it is easy to identify where each box should go to.

Your baby is beautiful. It’s so fun seeing the mom side of you. For packing, I always focus on one room at a time. I pack it up and mark the boxes. Then I stack those boxes in a corner of the room. Once most everything is packed I move everything to one side of the living room. I also suggest leaving something out to keep baby in and move your dogs last after everything else is moved, provided you move all on the same day.

Awe I didn't know about Tavian until now. I had to go back and watch his info. He's so handsome! As a mom of 4 girls, I highly suggest looking into baby led weaning if you haven't already. Pediatricians will tell you to start baby food and cereal at 4 months but this is outdated information. I did thar with my 10 year old but when I had my second daughter (who is 4 now) I did the baby led weaning which is when you essentially just give them what you eat once they start sitting up on their own. Some moms still do start solids at 4 months and that's ok too. Mom life is the craziest, most stressful, yet rewarding journey. Congratulations!

4-6 months, never ending sleep regression lol. our 2nd is 6months and he's trying so hard to take off so we spend a lot of time in the floor with anything that draws his attention and is easy for him to grab. spending more time letting him weight bear on his arms and showing him how to get to all fours for crawling (i'm a PT and pediatrics is one of my specialties) but I don't force things, letting them go at their own pace is what matters. our first didn't crawl til after he started walking which was early at the crawling stage. just follow baby cues and let them do their thing. when it comes to food don't assume they won't like or will like something because you do/don't, I offer all varieties of things as long as texture/seasoning is appropriate that's all that matters. Just enjoy it even when it's crazy! Yay on your new house "order" that was great!

I had a bit of a rough go with my son, preclampsia and emergency c-section @ 28wks;feedings in my home were not normal. Sleep was not something either my husband or I got much of; it makes a world of a difference. My best advice is that a sleep routine is SO ESSENTIAL I started trying about 6 months old. My son is 11 now and a routine is still #1. Lack of sleep will always catch up with you in other areas. Once he starts to teeth my son loved his Sophie Giraffe, its a special chew toy. A-Mazing. Any direction you want to go with your channel I am here to watch.

I used to work for a moving company and all I can say is label label label label your boxes and when you go to move into your home put all the furniture in before you bring the boxes in trust me it makes it so much easier to unpack I used to unpack for customers on the side and when all the kitchen boxes are in the kitchen it's easy to unpack everything quickly and pack by drawers so all pots and pans and one box that way when you get to the new house that box all goes in the bottom cabinet boom done just label everything don't just label it kitchen label it pots and pans flatware like put everything you put in that box right on the outside of it it's going to save you so many headaches

Glad that you got a new house that fast and adoption went well. My grandpa got bought out years ago because they were expanding the airport(never happened). I feel like when I got my house and now it's a sellers market. I had to update my house quite a bit still needs a bit more work but it's a nice starter house and don't plan on moving anytime soon. Hope that you guys get settled and it isn't too stressful. I would say pack a little at a time try not to put more pressure on yourself?

Good luck on your move! It's definitely a stressful time, but exciting too. My husband and I just moved with our dogs several states away from our home state in December and I think something that helps A LOT is labeling boxes well. Our families came with us for a couple of days to help with the move and I couldn't find the regular bath/hand towels! Everyone had to use beach towels. 😂 Taking the time to label all your boxes well will help to avoid awkward things like that. 😉

Best advice I have is to leave your clothes on hangers, just pop a few hangers/pieces at a time through the bottom of a garbage bag, the tie the bottom. When you get to your new place, just hang them up and cut the bags off. The bags keep them dry and if anything falls off, its contained in the bag. Plus no taking them on and off hangers, they are all just ready to go in the closet in the new place.

For my dog i kept him at a boarding care for a couple of days before the main big move. Because we kept running into him and him running out of the house when we did smaller trips.. It was better for both of us.

I would enlist your family's help to pack and unpack. Make sure you label your boxes well and place them in the rooms they go in. As far as helping him sleep through the night, this won't be a popular opinion I'm sure, but I put a little rice cereal in my kids last bottle of the night. My kids are 22 and 20 now and they started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks and 4 weeks. They would go to sleep at 7 or 7:30 and would sleep until 7 the next morning. Your baby is so adorable! I will watch whatever you film.

We labeled everysingle box. The side and the top. And dont worry it also takes forever to unpack. We finished unpacking our last box in december. We moved back in May lol dont be afraid to ask for empty boxes at like target, walmart or grocery stores to save money on shipping boxes

I love having a life update here and there! My bub is 15 months old and I agree with them turning your life upside down! My tips for the 4 to 6 month age, ease into a sleep schedule if you like to plan your day. Once we had a schedule in place it made things so much easier. Huckleberry is a good app that has a nap schedule that works for most people.

I'm excited about the lifestyle addition to your channel! I've been around for a few years and found you through boxycharm videos. Or ipsy. I don't really remember. But it's been great seeing random vlogs here and there! I am so excited for you and your family with your son, he's so stinkin cute! Good luck with the move! I think the biggest tip I can offer is to use towels and blankets to pack the breakables as much as possible so you don't have to use as much paper or bubble wrap. And to use smaller boxes than you think you'll need. Moving more boxes is a pain but it's better than hurting yourself trying to move boxes you accidentally made too heavy.

The pugs are adorable and the baby is super cute. such a cute mom and son duo!!

I can’t believe he’s already 4 months old!!! It goes by so fast so enjoy watching him grow into that little person. I know what you mean about the process of selling/buying a house. We lived in Florida for 30 years and my son wanted to move to NC to pursue his career in NASCAR after he graduated in 2013. We were under contract by July 2013, August made a second trip to look at houses (which 4 generations were going to be living in), and on our way back to Florida in the middle of August we were under contract with our house in NC. Closed on our house 10/1/2013 and moved into our house on 10/4/2013. My son went for an interview with a race team, they gave him a 90 day internship, and he way hired on Valentine’s Day the following year

So wonderful!! At 4 months, he should be ready for rice cereal. That was the turning point for me- my son was a hungry, hungry hippo, and a TERRIBLE sleeper. Feeding him a giant bowl of rice cereal at bedtime was a game changer for me. It made my son sleep SO much better! Some babies don't like rice cereal, but my son gobbled it up, and ate boxes of it for years- well past 6 years old. Try different flavors if your baby isn't a fan. I'd just dump some powder in a bowl, add enough warm formula to make a mush, and feed him that way. It's not recommended to put it in a bottle, although people do that. Additionally, it can take 3-5 tries before babies like new flavors, so keep trying even if he rejects it. Good luck- you're doing a wonderful job!

The best thing we figured out was to take shifts at night. 3-4 hour shifts per person. It was the only way we started getting any decent sleep

The sleep thing gets better I promise! Eventually he will sleep all the way through the night and you’ll probably freak out at first because you’re so used to him waking up. Tips for the next few months… just go with the flow. Don’t overthink it. Time goes so fast so just enjoy these moments. He’s adorable too btw ❤️.

It got a little easier after 6 months, but as he grows and changes, so do the challenges. You and Brady are young and strong and a great parenting unit--you will figure it out together.
