A new shortcut was discovered on Mario Kart 64's Kalimari Desert! I know you mostly cover n64 games but ff7 just had a major breakthrough with the most sought after skip in the history of the game: Kalm skip. Manages to skip a 30 minute cutscene that provides no rewards or advantage for completing it.

all started with a fence clip being failed. just imagine being in my shoes having to feel bad for failing it, then seeing shortcuts getting a new strat. also i was the one to name it the desertenko.

Congratulations to the crew on this newest discovery. While I was the first to fluke past the fence in 1997, I never managed to pull off anything like the newest method in time trials. And I tried all sorts of failed ideas, including some carried over from Frappe. Anyway this newest finding very much reminds me of the "Mylestyle" shortcut in Luigi Raceway. Fortunately I used to be fairly proficient at that one back in the day (nearly 5% success rate at one point) and managed to record a successful hit racing against a very old ghost. It nicely demonstrates 2 different entry points into the shortcut at nearly the same time on the same screen. Hopefully that might encourage alternate paths into the newest Kalimari finding.

As we all know the original choco mountain skip was so named because it combined Weatherton and Greg Ihnatenko's last names. But in a funny twist of synchronicity 天候 Tenko in Japanese means "weather". So it's literally the "weather weather skip".

I think it's because Karl brought the Minecraft crowd in with the Dream cheating scandal and he already had the Doom fan base as well. Personally I prefer Goose's voice and sense of humour. I'm sure they is space for both of them on the platform.

Meh, I don't think it's entirely realistic to expect content creators to go around asking for permission to make videos. There's probably at least a half-dozen different creators that make content about this game, and Karl can't reasonably ask all of them for permission to make a video, make the video, edit it, upload/process it, and have it out in time for it to still be relevant. Somebody would just beat him to the punch, and then he loses out. If he wants to make a video, he's gotta do it as fast as he can to make the effort worthwhile. These guys probably started working on their videos around the same time, with Karl's coming 1 day later by virtue of being almost twice as long. Like Dark Japan said, Karl gets a lot of views from other communities because he makes videos about a lot of other popular topics, compared to Goose who, comparatively speaking, covers only a few different games. Stuff like this is going to happen from time to time, but our man Goose will keep on trucking.

@@Onomoki I agree they should talk about things if they can, since they are basically in competition at this point. But as Karl revealed in his last video he and Goose don't talk much. At the same time RU-vid is a dog eat dog world. You just have to make the best video you can as fast as you can. I thought Karl's video went into a lot of detail but I still preferred Goose's because I prefer his voice and editing. I dislike that "hello you absolute legends" thing Karl does. It comes off as patronising to me. I'm sure he is being sincere, but Goose's "my friends" hits better. It's little things like that, that will keep people coming back.

It's a very niche game but during the last 6 months Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine for the N64 went from a completely glitchless game to being utterly broken to the point where almost every level is finished in about 2 minutes or even less.

Glad I never spent time on fence clip, such a tedious shortcut which takes so much patience to pull it off Curious how far down it can still go, I for myself am not a fan of shortcut runs, but it's still interesting to see it happening, I remember Kelp getting first ever hit on PAL system, his reaction was really nice :)

And people say this game is overrated it's stuff like this is why this game will never DIE!!!! what do u mean cheated demonstration, isnt it just a tas demonstation? cheated is vastly different from using TAS tools to accomplish a feat, now the tas could do things humans cannot do such as pressing multiple directions at once or some other variation, but the distinction between tas and CHEATED are huge. but if it is CHEATED i would assume some kind of modification to the games code was used in the demonstration.
