According to their website, that’s a $200.00 made in China plane but hey the box has scribble on it so it’s cool. About the same price as a Wood River and higher price than a Bench Dog But hey it’s made in China Chi-na

I take it you don’t like Chinese made stuff?

@@VicTesolinWoodworks I use some harbor freight stuff I’m not totally against Chinese products. But don’t claim they’re moderately priced at $200.00

So what would be moderate pricing for a plane that works out of the box? In Canada, the comparable plane from Veritas (high end) starts at $299 and the Groz (low end) made in India is $62. Thus the statement ‘moderately priced’ at $200. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi I know this isn't the video to ask this question, but I'm going to anyway. A while back you reviewed a power crafter air turbine tool. Could you please tell me how to maintain the tool for long term use. Also what do you think of the tool now. Do you still use it, if so how much. How has it held up.

Yeah, I know that almost everything is made in China, but it is strange to use “made in China” as the first bragging point.

In a world full of Pinto’s and Maserati’s, it’s nice to finally have a Toyota that people can afford. MTC is not ashamed of where they are made.

For us, made in China isn't about it being a bragging point, it's just a fact about our tools. They are designed and developed in Melbourne, and manufactured in China. We are okay with that, and many other people are too.

are they a couple of hillbillies trying to sell some Chinese made plane for big money sounds like a big scam to me.

Certainly hillbillies selling some planes yes 😂 but definitely no scam. In the woodturning world not everyone can an afford a Robust or Oneway but may be able to swing a Powermatic. Still a well respected machine but made in China allowing for a lower retail price. MTC is the Powermatic of handplanes 🙂

hillbillies yes show that plane skimming across the face of some red oak and say no scam mr.

Oh wow, another "designed somewhere" made in china tool company 😕 Looking at the prices, can't say they're a "middle of the road" in pricing, I'd say I'd stick to something from Wood River for similar pricing, a known trusted brand/company based in the USA with good support. If these are any good, then send one to Rob Cosman and let him give an honest review.

We understand our tools aren't for everyone, and that's okay. We know and respect the brands and hand tools that are already out there. Our goal is to help make quality hand tools more accessible to more people. Based on years and years of feedback, we heard that many tools were still outside of people’s budgets. We are doing what we can to help reduce that financial barrier to getting into and enjoying woodworking. At the end of the day, we want you to enjoy whatever tools you are using and enjoy woodworking.
