Well worth the $50 if you're going to use it to max potential! Just waiting on the drawer system to come through for packout to buy it. Honestly debating skipping having an actual tool box or just getting the packout with drawers, a sturdy table and a sawhorse.

That is what I'm doing. I decided I no longer want a shop box. I want my entire set up to eventually be sorted and stored in packout! I tend to bring my projects with me a lot and I don't want my tools out in the shop where they have a better chance of getting stolen so for me it is packout all the way! They are a bit pricey but worth it to me... at least when there are sales 😄

I can make several with differing hole patterns to bolt on several different items. A vice or a my compact drill press or my compact bandsaw cutoff cradle or even a mitre saw! @robdove4105
@robdove4105 3 года назад
Imagine the rolling cart with 2 stacks and two of these to top the stacks or two stack units with the drawer units one of these on each and a connecting top you could quickly attach to each. Lots of possibilities, like a series of bench top tools that could be used by switching them out. It is a better looking top after seeing this. Also there is no reason 3/4 plywood could not be used as well with a second piece attached that was larger so more than one tool could be used. Think of a bench top planner, sander, kreig tool and a vise all on one slightly larger top. The whole works could travel to the job on one cart and be ready to use, particularly with the big hand truck and drawer units under it. Looks better all the time.

Love the packout system; I’ve got the rolling box, two large tool boxes, five tool boxes, four organizers, six crates, the vacuum, the tool bag, the dolly, the “two wheeled cart” on the way, and five of the mounting plates. I use them to organize my tools, camping equipment, various spare parts and gear for my fifth wheel RV. It’s awesome. I’m certainly gonna snag one of these tables up. Initial plan is to create a top that allows easy mounting/unmounting of things like my Wicked Edge Go knife sharpener but still maintain the usefulness of the table top... though, if I’m being honest, I’m gonna get it because it’s more of a second kind of cool; it will make me happy to own it and I know I’ll enjoy using it for a long time to come. That right there makes it worth fifty bucks, to me. Thanks for the content!

Wondering if you could use some kind of wing nuts or cam lock to secure your vice(s) and swap it out if you only had the one top to work with. The OSB suggestion is a good one. You spend $50 and then set about destroying the nice smooth top. You could save that for a writing surface or sketching out a field drawing in the truck or somewhere, and then you have it for template time when you need it. Maybe attach a spring clip to hold a notepad.

Well if nobody bought it ,that 2 dollar piece of plastic would drop in price quickly. Seems way to much for what it is. Just my 2 cents
@ronwilliams329
@ronwilliams329 3 года назад
Ideed so. Plastics is a cash cow. Having worked in 2 industries that used plastics and before that actually worked for a plastics manufacturing company, the mark-ups are insane at times. I have also ran a computer shop during the late 80s/early 90s. Used to get those cheap plastic mice for .75 cents each/.70 in volume. The same mice that sold in the boxes with the fancy labeling for $30-$50 bucks! $1.25 for an upscale keyboard and they sold for $40-$70 bucks as well. Plastics kept my business very profitable during those years. It's no different today either. Depends upon the country of origin that dictates the price you'll pay. China, Vietnam, S. Korea and Taiwan are the cheapest. I'm hearing that Latin America is doing rather well too.

If it works that good without tape or dope it will work even better with it. I’m a plumber and almost everyone I work with has a pack out set of some sort. I’ve resisted mainly because of the cost but if I can set it up with a pipe vice it might make it worth it. The only other issue is I’m a service guy so I’m in a van or small truck and therefore don’t have the space. The other downside is it gives thieves an easy way to steal it

After watching your video on the rolling tool cart that no one is buying, I would make a doublewide plywood top that is secured to two sets of packout drawers. You could also make it so that it folds by adding a hinge. I would mount T-nuts in vaarious locations on the underside of the plywood to secure accessories such as a vice or chop saw and store them in the large rolling tool cart . If you use 3/4" plywood or MDF, you could even add T-track for hold downs and the like.
