During the reveal they said that they only showed off half the kroot models that are coming

Slight lore correction on the Kroot. it isnt that they eat the food and they change, more that they eat, then thier children are a little differnt, after several genrations there would be a big change. In this way the shapers controll the evolution of each 'kindred' of kroot. Each squod is a family. So Kroot hounds are ones who ate dog like creatures for many genreation, but they ate them for so long they got stuck, which is something the Krot want to avoid, they see these as dead ends. Kroot look the way they do becasue several generations of thier avian ancesters fed on dead orcs, which is why they are humanoid, have an underbite, and know how to create technology despite having very little imagination. When Kroot eat enough cool things, they can go back to thier homeworld and petition that thier changes are worth adding to the specease as a whole, and then they get eaten if they are good enough :)

It's very tempting to do a kroot army now, though I think it's a great start to finally fulfill the promise of the Tau Empire, a coalition of different races...would be nice if they gave the vespid the same treatment or maybe make new allies (not hating on battlesuits as I'm a mecha fan but variety is nice and I feel like the Tau should be the counter-Imperium)

Last time i was this early, the Black Templars still painted their armor yellow.

Kroot are really cool because they look actually different from humans, they are definitely humanoids but wayyy different than the rest (excluding tyranids), I am a big fan of the film "Jhon Carter" and I like green aliens that look actually different than big or small humans.

I am really not sure where your brain made the jump from "Kroot have their own detachment in Codex: T'au Empire" to "you have to buy a separate book".

KROOOT! Excited for the other half of their range to be revealed, my wallet is afraid And for kroot evolution, they get little aspects of what they eat but eventually can adapt to the point of being a different species. Kroothounds and krootox are no longer actual kroot and lack the consciousness that kroot have, but they're part of the same evolutionary family so the kroot treat them all very well

I did re-check the "what's coming for 40k in 2024" video and yeah the Kroot thing in that looked nothing like the new Krootoxes, way longer and sleeker. Now I can't wait to see that too.

Someone apparently didn't watched the stream because they 100% directly dropped that this is only half of the Kroot releases and that there with be a detachment that benefits Kroot keywords. Also they have the Kroot kill team will work in your armies as well.

James Workshop made me happy with the Kroot releases… I was disenchanted with Kroot after the index release and starting a T’au army I was like are they worth the price and they kinda weren’t anymore but this new release pulled me right back in and plus it’s the best way to kill two birds with one stone by getting the codex along with the new models.

A Kroot Army could legitably bring me back to 40k, but I fear you will have a 1:1 € per point Ratio for that kind of army. Plus all the books and stuff. But might get them for Grimdark Future.

The Daughter of Khaine I think will be seen at least once at Golden Demon.

Kroot are super cool. They're humanoid but the fact Krootox and Kroot hounds also exist is so cool! Probably one of the most unique ideas in 40k xenos. I wonder also if the Mandrakes could be better with that pitch black blackest black paint??

The way the lore goes is if a kroot eats uncontrollably with no path to a good mutation aided by a shaper they turn into hounds or krootox or a knorlock The shapers guide them to eat only specific things to get the right result from mutation

This is actually the first nighthaunt warcry, you have mixed it up with underworlds which has received a lot of nighthaunt teams

I think that the problem with the Mandrake not being spooky enough is just because the paint job is very bright.

I hope that the kroot flesh shaper gives the squad he joins either +1 strength or +1 ap in melee. Kroot carnivores are also only 55 points per 10 models at the moment with a 7" move and 7" scout move, meaning if you go first you could move block your opponents army with 14 inches of movement and a charge.

To those that read AoS lore, the release of the Callis and Toll models is very exciting. I love those two dudes and the adventures they go on. Also, Arika Zenthe, captain of the Scourge Druchii pirates, also appears in some Callis and Toll novels and has a standalone novel as well, is in that release. The character with the grappling hook, that could also be a spinoff character from the Callis and Toll books, Shevanya Arclis. I'm not sure, we'll see.

I think that, if the mandrakes were painted with more cold colors, IE: the magic and runes were painted with blues, and the bases were more icy or shadowy, the mandrakes would look a lot more like the cold shadowy creatures they are supposed to be. Maybe it's just me, but the lumineth guys look very much like the Idoneth. Also, so stoked for all Kroot armies!

@12:00 They said there were another 5-6 units to be revealed later. Very likely: 1. Kroot hounds 2. Knarloc riders 3. Greater Knarloc 4. Assassin character Then very speculatively: 5. Heavy infantry dual build as either heavy melee or support weapons 6. Coldfire squad? Might also be redundant with normal Tau. 7. Psykroot character or squad.

kroot flat heads: nothing a bit of snipping (down the middle of the quills) and then repositioning a slight bit, then add some GS and use a toothpick to sculpt new quill specific detailing. would take (if including cure time) a day of doing this to a squad or two. the more production/skilled you become this takes less time obviously. to me however the quills are fine and always have been but I admit I have yet to buyany kroot. on my to buy if they ever are in stock in Australia again. old ones were OOS for forever.

The nighthaunt are the first for warcy underworlds is what gets a nighthaunt team every three releases

I have fond memories of the 3rd Edition Kroot Mercenaries army list, nice to see them getting their own detachment back. I'd love to see the plastic remasters of FW Great Knarloc and Knarloc Riders as well, or the units like the Vulture Kindred to return.

iirc Kroot Hounds and Krootox are considered, like, a subspecies of Kroot; They're evolutionary offshoots of Kroot. They're groups of Kroot who evolved into 'dead ends' and cannot evolve any further. They're kept around because they're useful, but they don't represent 'normal' kroot evolution.

There is so much lore room to convert multiple forms of Mandrakes. Farcry has a lot of options.

If you hadn't told me, I would have guessed the Mandrakes were an Underworlds or Warcry squad. The Lumineth would be cool SF mini for the Istvan Warsingers. Love the new Kroot.

Something I've had a gripe with forever is that space marines are the only "multi book" faction, which automatically makes them the "favourite good guys" I'm not against kroot getting their own bonus book if it starts turning into a trend for a couple more armies to diversify them

Im 100% going to make a Kroot Shaman out of the new shapers. Add a feather headdress, some eldar spirit stones, a few more trinkets, and a heavily modified kroot forcre stave ann you are off to the races.

The Mandrakes are the first thing in KT season 3 that I'm actually excited about. I'm looking forward to getting them for KT. For Warcry I like the Night aunt but I'm not all that excited by the Lumineth. The Kroot, though, are without a doubt the reveal I'm most excited about. Those new miniatures are fantastic. Kroot-pup FTW!

I wish Games Workshop would do something like a Mercenary Codex - have the Kroot, some Hrud, toss in some of Demiurg. Maybe do like a Rogue Trader book with all of the non IG and space marine stuff, and combine with the merc's.

For the Mandrakes, I have the old 3rd edition metal models, my DE army is almost all 3rd edition. These new ones look 300% better, the old ones just looked like Wyches. The Kroot box has me excited, I'd love to run an all Kroot army. Now, we need a new plastic Vespid line. I'd also like to see an upgrade sprue to use with cadians to represent the human worlds that joined the Tau.

I feel like the lumineth killteam would be perfect for Deathcult Assassin proxies. Very excited for Kroot!

The Lumineth dudes would be EXCELLENT as Harlequins or Ynnari eldar, with a head swap and weapons.

you were in fact confused. underworld has 3 night haunt teams but 1 is literaly just a normal unit thrown into a box with cards. this is the FIRST nighthaunt warband

Kroothounds can also reproduce, no need to have the baby adapt into a kroot hound from a normal kroot.

My favorite is the nighthaunt warcry. I absolutely love nighthaunt owning 15 thousand points worth of them so seeing new nighthaunt always makes me excited

Last time I made a Kroot army work was at the start of 8th edition when only Indexes existed. But those times quickly went away as everything else got powercrept.

They said this was about half of the line so i'm 100% expecting the Gnarloc from the image they showed, and also i'm REALLY hoping for a Melee team of Kroot that maybe were on a diet of Orks or something else strong like that and are brutish melee fighters.

Solarites do exist already. They're the leader unit in a squad of scourges just as a Sybarite is the leader of a unit of Kabalites

Crossbow on a Kroot made me laugh. Imagine being in the 41st Millenium. A tank-commander of a baneblade or something and you get rekt by an arrow. Some Madjack Churchill wibes.

Yup I’m quite sure that I manifested the Kroot army into reality this past summer when I got the kroot kill team and decided that I needed more so I got a box of Carnivores, a Krootox and a pack of kroot hounds to start an unofficial army. I’m definitely going to pick up this new set and attempt to kitbash a Knarloc for either a mobile gun platform or for transportation purposes as well as kitbashing a unit of Kroothawks. I think GW will be releasing a Knarloc in the future and I would like to think they will also make a unit of the Kroothawks because if they don’t they will be missing out on a great opportunity to take my money 💰 The few friends that I game with are used to my custom army building shenanigans and let me do whatever because it’s all about having fun and pushing little toy soldiers around the tabletop.

When I saw the new models . I wanted a kroots army too. Far cooler than tau like you say. I had more kroots when I was younger than Tau. Sadly, I got rid of them a long time ago. It's time to get the kroots growing again, I think!

My understanding is that anything that gets shown in a preview, unless expressly stated that it's "in development," has to be released within the next 90 days based on their quarterly cycles and public disclosure releases. So anything we saw at LVO should be out or up for preorder by the end of April. Also, just to clarify... the Kroot aren't getting a dedicated Army Book, they're just a detachment in the Tau book. This is basically like the Beastsnagga release Orks got last edition

Hate to tell you Jay re:17:30 variations on plate on chainmail on top of a quilted linen gambeson is how they rolled for a good chunk of the medieval period. Not so ridiculous. Still a total bugger to paint though.

I've always mostly ignored the Kroot. I just thought of them as you know Tau. Never really seen them played either. But I love the aesthetic of "primitive," advanced tech. Stuff like what the Wookies from Star Wars have. Now that they got a bunch of new minis, I've gone on a deep dive lore-wise, and God I love the species so much. A species that evolves by eating other races is so cool, and leads to some awesome ways to build your own group. Also I play Lizardman, the fastest way to my heart is a man riding a dinosaur. So i am so excited to be building an all Kroot army.

I’d love to get some auxilia and run them as Scions, painting them in a similar scheme as Lord Solar. Maybe use some of my leftover Scions guns.

I think the new lumineth could make great sci-fi troops the athletic poses with the clean armour and mask would look great with guns a plenty

their own detatchment isn't a seperate book, if you're getting the T'au codex already, the kroot detachment is in there

I like how the gorilla Kroot has jewliry and necklaces because it like the humanoid Kroot prise them like totems or war beasts.

Maybe you dont like the small scale, but battletech has perfect balance of this, 8mm scale, but the minis are still the size of your average marine. I know you have some, iv saw that box in your background in the past 👀

It would be cool if Warhammer reintroduced the softer, less well defined lines between different races/factions that they used to have before army books/codexes. The Kroot are good poster boy for this idea, given they’ll fight as someone else’s lackey just as much as for themselves. Doubtless even Imperials become bedfellows with different ideological sub-factions of their own. Is your commander close with the Ecclesiarchy’s militants or does he maintain enough distance from them to fill his ranks with elites of the Scholastica Psykana? All these groups (which are represented with a single unit in a codex) could be expanded into sub-codexes, with an intelligent system for how players can go about personalizing their own force and it’s story.

I always really liked the kroot. I never liked the tau as much. The release is probably 10 years too late for the likes of me, but super cool for new players who might have the same fascination that I did all those years ago.

I've literally spent the last 3 months making a mechanicus horror themed army, my fiance had a treasure box full off arts and craft stuff, paints I've never seen before, so I was like screw it if games workshop isn't giving them the love they deserve, I will.
