I have not used my k40 for a while now. I have other lasers, but this looks like a fun upgrade. I used to use the k40 whisperer. I wanted to try the meerk40t software but my nano board stopped working.
thanks for you video , I have the k40 but 55w u had changed the focus lenses to 38.1mm to engrave a very small area's as 2.5mm *2.5mm size but the machine is not working as the focus is not working well any suggestions I've tried with the Hight adjustment in addition to the power nothing is working any idea's thanks in advance
Thank for video. I got the same board and work as well but engraving too slow.(50% from M2 board) My setting for engraving is 300m/s but machine do like 100-150m/s. I don't know why?
Ran into the same speed issues. I’ve upped I all so it’s working closer to k40. Not super happy with the board as of right now. Waiting for monport to get back to me.
I already purchased Lightburn for my diode laser. I wanted to be able to use lightburn with my K40 so I ordered this board and will swap out the M2 Nano once it arrives. I am assuming that the Lightburn license for the diode version (grbl) will work with this Monport board? Wished all the buttons on the K40 laser lid still worked after this upgrade.
Correct the lightburn version that works for diode works for the k40. The different versions are based on the controller being used and you would only need the other one if you went to a DSP controller.
the Omtech K40+ board is Plug and play for the Monport Laser. all controls work with the board with no changes to the wiring! There is a setting in Lightburn to change , instructions are in the book for this correction.
Thanks for this! I'm running a new Monport K40+ system, I'm going to double check that mine matches what you have. Big question - I'm looking to add the air assist, and I'd really like automatic control of the pump via the board, so lightburn can turn the compressor on/off automatically. Do you know if this new board allows this? It looks like there was some extra I/O on the board, so maybe?
Hi, I have the board connected and it works fine, but I can't figure out how to connect the air assist, the output to air assist, it doesn't make any changes when working with lightburn. Greetings
I purchased the board after watching this video. The default settings on the board for x and y speeds are insanely low compared to even the stock k40 nano board. Upping all the speeds results in in accurate cuts and engraving. Lowering the speed helps but then the engraving power is too high. Can’t get the power lower than 5 mw regardless of what it’s set to in light burn so you need to go fast for fine engraving but you can’t cause the lines start to get wonky. Not sure if you are experiencing any of these issues. Monport has not responded yet.
