Always nice to see another option, but for me the Forster datum product that also allows one to measure cases, too, and has a broad caliber selection is hard to beat for a one-stop resource for most common chamberings. Thanks for showing the new kid on the block.

The Sinclair tool works fine asis. One question, on what planet is the .270 a “speciality” caliber?

I got one last week and it is more convenient than the Sinclair nut comparator because it can be fixed to the caliper jaw. What I found a bit awkward was using it with the Hornady seating depth gauge was that the Hornady tool body was contacting the caliper and I was having a difficult time getting a good reading. I tried a different caliper, I have two six inch and one eight inch, with similar results. My solution was to put the comparator on the movable jaw and that seemed to help measuring with the Hornady tool. Measuring bullet base to ogive or cartridge base to ogive, with the tool on the fixed jaw is fine.

Now I have a reason to get a comparator. Thanks for bringing this up and showing it. This looks more accurate than the Hornady style.

What do I think? Cool AF is what I think! Not as “fancy” as the Forster Datum product but I was impressed by the quality at that price point. Certainly has more appeal (and takes less overall space) than the Hornady setup I use now.

Does this do both ogive and shoulder bump or just ogive??

Hey Gavin, For years I've used the Sinclair Bullet Comparator which is very similar to the one's you're reviewing. Creedmoor has made some nice improvements to its version and will benefit it's user for years to come. These are quick, very handy, and a great way to monitor the consistency of the loads produced.

I LOVE The Simplicity of changing your ability to measure different calibers on the fly. I'll need to buy one and check it out. I have used a Hornady comparitor for years and I have lost the little set screw dozens of times. I drop them so much, I just bought a pack of 25 to have on hand.

@@Ultimatereloader sad to say slow going. Primers I have been able to find have been so expensive I might as well buy factory. Need to work up some stuff before deer season. I did take some of my handloads out to 1200 yards last week tho

@@WHOTEEWHO yeah. That's totally true, but... In fairness... I have a Stevens 200 my father in law gave me. Yeah, it's a $350 gun (being generous). Factory ammo, I get 2-3 inch groups at 100, sure... Well fine enough for deer out to say 180. But, I load a .243 neck sized with 95 gr Hornady SST, on top of 33.3 gr of Hornady 4895 with a federal primer... And it's shooting the same hole off of bags at 100. Accuracy. Costs. Money. But it's not THAT much extra. And only accurate rifles are interesting.

I think there are some flaws in this method. 1. The diameter of the tool is different from the barrel I have 2. The measurement your taking includes bullet seating depth + the delta in the ojive diameter between bullets. Since you're seating tool can't accommodate both you have to eat the error of the latter error term. Since the goal is to get minimal bullet jump, I'm not sure I'm convinced this is helping anything. using the same principle but a tool that measures that within my chamber vs a inaccurate model of my chamber would seem to solve problem 1 but not problem 2. Maybe solving problem 2 is simply buying the premium bullets like you mentioned. 🤔

Hey Gavin I just received my Creedmoor Sports comparator and tested it along side of the Hornady comparator. The measurements are .0320 difference with a Berger 108 target bt. ? So I assume neither is the real Ojive and should be used according. I will have to decide which one to use as you could easily get a base to Ojive length difference of .0320 . Thanks for your videos they are very informative .

Decent tool for the purpose, SAC seems to be pretty stringent on accuracy, so the hole sizes shud be good on it, stainless is good naterial for it, price seems good.

Oh. At first I thought it was gimmick... But I like how you do the zero to ogive... Definitely better (for me) then how I have to do the Hornady Comparator on my seating double checks.

How is this easier than the stoney point / hornady comparator? The hornady clamps on the calipers AND reads exactly 1.00" empty. No need to zero.

This is good but not the best way to measure jump since you’re not considering the shoulder where it stops in the chamber. If your shoulder bump isn’t consistent neither is your jump. Why not do an evaluation of the AccuracyOne tool that measures shoulder to ogive?

Guess I have to buy this to really find out if its set up to help measure CBTO ? Any chance bore dia, was taken into account for each of the gauges available? For $50 it shold be a standard...not necessarily a gauge imo, but its advertised as a gauge.

I am very curious about the way it is zeroed once clamped, zeroing with the vernier jaw inside the groove is going to give consistent measurements, but not try base to ogive measurement. So weird

The most important measurement is group size. I doubt that this gadget will reduce your group size.

Constitutional carry is our right. When the constitution was written, and long afterwards there was not any gun licenses anywhere in United States. There is no mention of people being confined to the State they live in order to carry a firearm, and everyone at that time brought their firearm everywhere they wanted to go including across state lines. Outside of my home is anywhere in the United States as a legal citizen. Because the Supreme Court stated text , history and tradition is to be used, any legal citizen of the United States should be allowed to carry their firearm anywhere in the United States without a license or permit. Constitutional carry should be the law of the land. Please pass this message on to others .

It's basically the Sinclair comparator nut, but with clamps for the caliper jaw. A better mousetrap IMO. I have the Sinclair but think I'll be getting one of these as well.
