This session will help you learn the basics of how to approach music production for video content with upcoming young musician and producer MeloZed.
Covering the process from start to finish, we will look at a snippet of a video and discover how MeloZed produces music for it. Young composer Sam will ask questions about the creative process, right through from research and making soundtracks to the final piece.

Born in South London, composer, producer and multi -instrumentalist, Melo-Zed is an inherently multi-disciplinary artist- with work spanning music, design, video and painting. Drawing from an eclectic collage of influences, from jazz to punk rock and a keen ear for progressive sounds, the music is a blend of texture, unusual melodies and hypnotic rhythms, interwoven with intricate sound design to create a vividly intimate mood that can easily be recognised as his own. This expansive and cinematic sound has led him to also work on film scores for the likes of Gucci, BBC, Dazed, BFI and Tate Modern to name a few. Anchored in roots of the Carribean, West African and British identities, Melo-Zed continues to explore ideas of self and community through this lens, building his own genre-bending world, blending and warping colours from an array of palettes.
Sam is a 17 years old pianist, guitarist and singer. He began learning music from a very young age inspired by his older sister. When he was around 8 years old, he joined a band for the first time and began writing songs. He listens to and writes a very wide range of music, including Classical, Jazz, Indie rock, and Lo-fi Rap. He is currently doing Maths, Physics and Music A levels. In his spare time he works as a song writing, piano and guitar teacher at the project where he first went to learn guitar and write songs.
