What benefit does the libbi bring to the consumer over a harvi installed on a third party inverter/battery and monitored by a zappi?

It's all about control and communication. If you are using a third party PV inverter and a separate AC battery inverter, then you're correct, the Harvi will monitor both separately, and prevent the Zappi draining the battery, however, there's no way to control whether the Zappi take priority over the battery - the battery will always fill up first before the car, and you may want the option of charging the car first in some circumstances. Second, if you have a 3rd party inverter with a Hybrid setup, there's no way to differentiate between the battery and PV. This runs the risk of the battery and car charger getting in to a cycle where the car charges and drains the battery. There are ways around this with the zappi, but you end up loosing some efficiency etc. Having everything on the same eco system ensures you have a system that fully works together.
