James, I have a monitoring app for my cellphone. I don't look at it much anymore because I pretty much know what it is doing depending on the amount of sunlight that we get. I am 75 years old and have been in the electric motor business for 50 years. I hired professional installers because i'm no longer capable of doing work like this. The engineering company did a fantastic job. We are we well pleased. In watching your videos, you do excellent work. Jam,es, you explain everything well. I always watch videos like yours several times. I enjoy learning and updating my knowledge. I have plenty of time on my hands.

Hi James I was very familiar with hybrid systems as in Florida I had T brand (can’t spell it out or YT blocks it) worked seamlessly but very expensive. I thought I understood off grid systems but I had not seen one that could still charge from the grid. Great concept. Love all the info you give and especially everything you are doing power wise. I’ve got about 14 months before I start my build and I keep seeing the improvements in Solar.

@@TexasFilipino no, I updated to sunsynk 12k 3 phase ( deye 12k/sol-ark 15k), as I had a lot of power in summer being wasted away, better to get credits on that, and had the budget to do so.. Got them 250w used panels, their total investment was under 1000 euro, which was manageable for them, and they don't have to deal with the extreme power situation in the eu anymore , it was causing them real issue with their retirement income

that unit looks identical to the lv6548 pair that I just upgraded to this weekend from my pip5048mg. I am loving it so far. I would like to make sure that you are aware of Solar-assistant. I have been using it for the many solar sites I have and it is a game changer over the included software. it's cheap and a one time purchase. I have not even connected the wifi to my inverters and have no plans to as I already know how terrible the software is. Once setup from the display, you can change anything you need to through solar assistant, but the graphs, charts, and logging are second to none. and when I say that I am including the victron VRM which I have used also; I think this is better. Go buy it and you will thank me later. actually, you probably wont 😉

I am sitting here in Texas enjoying cold air conditioning for free from a LV5048 MPP Solar (which is now the LV6048) . It is also a great unit for low voltage of North America. We had been gone from Texas a year, we walked in the door , tested my lithium batteries to make sure they was ok ( which actually was still right in the voltage I left them one year earlier ) then flipped on the inverter. Instant power , solar charging and cold air conditioning on.

Nice video. I have only few remarks. I got two units with MPP Solar rest was same they are connected parallelly. Few negative points : 1. don't use solar chargers if you don't have to. They are not so efficient and they have still some bugs.. 2. These units are also loud compared to other manufacturers such as Victron or similar 3. Be very sure and carefull not to go above 55-56V ..These units were designed with a lot less headroom in voltage side compared to 8KW Units ..so be sure not to over voltage unit 4. I modified mine to add 80x80 hole with front grill in right bottom section (on front black panell, there is hole inside the unit anyway there anyway for some reason so i added one extra but to outside the unit) this allows a bit more air to go outside the unit with different direction 5. Change Voltage to 220V to make sure you can get as much power as possible and it should improve voltage spikes ..so it might improve lifetime a bit 6. Changing Voltage or any other special parameter is a bit tricky and it get used to it..and ofc it isn't clearly explained in manul..but ofc you are used to it already i expect.. 7. That Monitoring wifi software is Joke ..no it isn't even Joke..it is bad Joke and really bad.. This should be improved much more much more..!!! Positive points : 1. For the price you can't get any similar performing unit at all. 2. It has higher power loss compared to others..but on other hand it is pretty good unit with a lot of setting and options to choose with.. 3. Filters are good points...but this could be improved more..or to have option to make some better ones ..Dust is always problem..and this unit is sucking air 24/7/365 so for sure you have to clean them every month 4. Not much positive or negative to add, 5. As a whole good unit and it has some interesting options a lot of setting and charging options..All is fine Recommendations : 1. Improve WIFI/phone/website software 2. Add/increase glands for 75-95mm square cable ..cable will go in..but not lugs..so what is point to it or add option to skip it by some plastic insulation material as option 3. Add better/larger input dust filters or make it available to order 4. For sure make some extra unit where ppl would be able check results live on some website or similar..and make them possible to connecto to other systems such as Victron or similar.. 5. Add possibility to switch unit on/Off by remote function..over cable or by switch or relay or similar..this i'm missing for sure.. compared to others such as Victron..

I recently added an MPP Solar 11MAX to my system. When I connected the battery, the BMS shutdown (Short circuit protection). I found I had to pre-charge the MAX before enabling Discharge from the battery. I did not have to do that to the 5048MG that I have. Does your 11kW de-rate output if the battery < 55V? Only time my batteries are > 55V is when it's in Absorb. I also found that this inverter uses a few kWh if connected to the grid. Something to be aware of. I leave the grid input isolator OFF. My 5048MG does as well, but not as much (0.08kWh vs 1.3kWh, per day).

I hope you will be happy with the unit. I have a Max 8k version and Max 3.7k-24V version also. They both have common bug on the solar charger with stock firmware known as "the infamous Premature float bug" . In some case the mppt controller wont recover after a short cloudy situation. Default firmware used to pull power from AC in, even instruct not to. I didn't want to use unofficial firmwate that fix the issues, I moved everything to DEYE inverter, 5 years support by default and better quality build. Originaly design by sol-ark ;-) and available in PH.

I am with you sergea1138, I thought I would save some money and went for parallel PowMr 5.5kw assuming I would be good in case one failed. What I did not count on was both failing in less then a week at on 20% load with fire shooting out of the bottom of one for a second. I too just bit the bullet and did 2 x Deye 8K units (definite overkill) and all I can say is they are built like tanks and I feel save I wont burn down my house and will last.

@@DougInParadiseyep PowMr offgrid inverter is not back by voltronic , they make unauthorize copy . Don't expect them to use industrial quality component, and to get official firmware update that works. Not worth the money. Plus, Never ever buy an inverter where the documentation never talk about neutral bounding to ground wriring. Its a red flags,.

I looked into deye a while back. they are to sol-ark what mpp solar is to voltronic. deye has been around for years and makes white label products that companies like sol-ark put their name on and software into. So, sol-ark has not built anything outside of a great reputation and good software and support.

@farside87 11 месяцев назад
Noticed you are going from a 24v system to a 48v system, that will reduce a lot of cost in wire sizing for those just jumping into an off grid system. However, since you already have the wire, and if you used the same you were using for those 24v inverters, it will decrease the resistive load and increase the efficiency of your power from the batteries. Keep us informed on the noise level generated from that new inverter, and let us know how you have connected your PV input (strings, wattage, voltage). Thanks for the video.
@TexasFilipino
@TexasFilipino 11 месяцев назад
Yes I made the jump! I have 4 200amh 5kwh batteries. Two and two are in parallel then the sets put in series to get that 48 volt. The BMS in the batteries are still working great all talking to each other because they still just see themselves as 24v which they are. I have always had short runs on my dc wire between the batteries and inverters but I still oversized even in 24v what the inverter called for so it would be just like you said less resistive. Now they are extremely oversized and that is great. For those reading this higher the voltage smaller the wire. 12v or 24v need larger sized cables than 48v because higher the volts low the amps and the amps is where the work is that causes resistance and those heat. Thanks farside

@@TexasFilipino I'm currently a snowbird from Colorado, and building a house in Texas, been back and forth six times already this year. Temp in Texas has been unbearable this last month for the past few weeks (100 plus), but the house should be completed by the end of September with tall ceilings and plenty of insulation. My first DIY upgrade to the new house will be a solar powered system. Wife doesn't want anything on the roof, so I'll be building a couple racks of panels on the 12 acres somewhere. Been looking at that new EG4 18KW inverter that "Signature Solar" is promoting, or maybe get a dual Victron 5000 kit from "Current Connected". Still haven't made up my mind on which I want yet, Low frequency, or High Frequency inverters. But, a 5 ton A/C and a well pump is going to put a large load on whatever I get.

Ok so I have 4 batteries - two and two are paralleled then those two sets in series giving me 48vdc with even cable runs. the internal bms is still working great as they are all seeing themselves as 24volt which they are. I did not connect the battery bms to the inverter which it is setup to do if they was 48v batteries. Instead you use the USER DEFINED setting and set all your parameters yourself. Works like a jewel. ( Disclaimer : I am working on my own private system and sharing what I am doing. I will not be responsible for any personal decisions you make on your own setup. Your responsible for your own choices. Working with 48vdc is dangerous and in full charge state the voltage can be over 52vdc which can pass the skin barrier and stop your heart. Absolute caution must be given. Best advice is use a professional if your unsure. )

Check that all of your electrical connections are tight, make sure your wire ends on the inverter went in behind the lugs properly and retighten them. I suggest pull each one out, shine a light and see if the lug is all the way back before you shove the wire back in. Lastly make sure your ground, common and load( line) are correct. These things will trip low bus on many models of these inverters.
