Eat less more often for sure! AND, make sure if you're two people or more, you get multiple things to share so you get to try more. I wish every restaurant had small plates. Kid sized portions so if you were, say, a party of 3, you could get 4-5 little plates and try all the things! We're usually a party of 3 and frequently just get two plates to eat family style. Portion sizes in America are out of hand, and you're right, you spend your time full and lethargic if you aren't smart about it.

IMHO, the Carrousel Bar is the worst bar in New Orleans. Without exaggeration, I was served the worst drinks there that I ever had in any bar ever, they were so bad that it was comical. For some reason, people are absolutely gobsmacked by the idea of sitting at a rotating bar, and the owners obviously figured out that the tourists would be content to a.) NOT sit at the rotating bar because it has a total of about 12 chairs, and b.) wait a half hour to get a drink, and c.) pay $25 per drink for some glop that the bartender threw together in 10 seconds. I know you're going to go there anyway, no matter what I write. It rotates! It a bar... that rotates! And it has one bartender and one waitress on staff to serve the 150 tourists jammed into it! Hooray! Spirits on Bourbon is really bad too. Just get the plastic skull glass without the punch in it. You wont drink it, because it's sickening frat-house glop and the bar is a greasy dump. Then you won't have to walk around with a sticky glass in your hand.
