New OVERWATCH Player Reacts to All OVERWATCH Cinematics (Part 1) 

I had so much fun watching these cinematics, make sure yall like the video for part 2!!!!!!

it’s never explained in any of the cinematics, but to explain why overwatch shut down; it all boils down to the conflict between soldier 76 (jack morrison) and reaper (gabriel reyes). to keep it brief, reyes was the leader of overwatch’s covert ops division, blackwatch. essentially a secret division to carry out overwatch’s dirty work under the radar to avoid public outrage. reyes had a strong sense of justice, and just like you mentioned, believed that radical measures were sometimes necessary. this led to him publicly executing a terrorist he was specifically instructed not to kill. after that, blackwatch was disbanded and overwatch’s reputation tanked. the explosion that supposedly killed both morrison and reyes was the final nail in the coffin, and overwatch was called to dissolve.

The omnic shot by Widowmaker is Mondatta, the leader of a peace seeking group of omnics of which Zenyatta is also a member. Zenyatta refers to him as his "brother", and he deeply misses him.

Hanzo was reportedly a master of the blade-far better than Genji when they were younger. He says in a voice line that he’s better with a blade himself. After he “killed” Genji (who was a reckless thrill seeker) by order of the Shimada clan elders (basically their family was/is a yakuza clan), he swore to never use a sword again.

Ok i know this is long but her story isn't told in eny of the cinematics. Widowmaker's backstory is actually so damn sad and tragic. in her former life, Widowmaker was married to Gérard Lacroix, an Overwatch agent spearheading operations against the Talon terrorist organization. After several unsuccessful attempts to eliminate Gérard, Talon decided to change its focus to his wife, Amélie. Talon operatives kidnapped her and subjected her to an intense program of neural reconditioning. They broke her will, suppressed her personality, and reprogrammed her as a sleeper agent. She was eventually found by Overwatch agents, apparently none the worse for wear, and returned to her normal life. Two weeks later she killed Gérard in his sleep. Her mission complete, Amélie returned to Talon, and they completed the process of turning her into a living weapon.

Seeing new Overwatch players watch the cinematics and get hyped about them is so awesome to see!

That is not Zen. Zenyatta is an omnic monk who wanders the world in search of spiritual enlightenment. Formerly part of the Shambali monastary in Nepal.

About why Widowmaker is evil the story is kinda interesting: Talon (a terrorist organization who fight against Overwatch) took Widowmaker to brainwash her and slowed her heart rate down as much as possible without killing her so that she could have steady aim on her sniper so they can use her as a weapon, to make the perfect assassin. She is evil because they made her like that, also the lack of blood flow from her heart makes her purple-ish.

I don't know if you ever found out but, gameplay-wise, it doesn't matter which side of the fight the playable characters are on: they just let everyone pick and choose who to play as in any PvP mode. There are some PvE events and storylines that pop up every now and then where you play as people from certain groups like Overwatch and its shadowy special black ops force Blackwatch but, most of the time, you just play as who you want. I do find it kinda funny that Part 1 ended up showing everything that led up to Overwatch being released. Part 2's gonna begin with the first character reveals and animated shorts made after the game came out.

Genji is indeed Hanzos younger brother Genji is 35 and Hanzo 38. But you have to remeber. One is a normal human (highly trained) and one is a highest tech cyborg out there and highly trained on top of that. So its not a suprise Hanzo lost.

Honestly it's so wholesome seeing new players get into the ow lore. Waiting for the part 2 :) Something interesting: When Hanzo uses his ultimate, he yells: "Ryūu ga waga teki wo kuraū!" which is roughly translated as "Let the dragon consume my foes!", while Genji replies "Ryūjin no ken wo kūrae!" one of the meanings of which is "The dragon becomes me!". With it, the only person, that stands there is Hanzo, as Genji became the dragon, symbolizing, that Hanzo's only enemy is himself. Also, Hanzo has two dragons to symbolize both Genji and Hanzo as he thought that he killed his brother. Hanzo lost himself and with it, he lost the control over his dragons. Edit: Hanzo was actually know to be very good with the sword, but when he thought he killed Genji, the abandon the sword and start using a bow, so even if Genji killed him, he knew that Hanzo wasn't fighting with his true power

Most of these are on actual maps in the game, many of them were in ow1 and are no longer playable though. However, yes, the last one is the map Dorado

When they announced the game (before its release) they showed that intro cinematic with the kids at the museum and they then said they'd have a Q&A about the game later or the next day. They were expecting a lot of questions about the gameplay, mechanics, what can I do in the game, etc but loads of questions were about the characters such as "Who is Tracer, where did she come from?" and "Reaper looks awsome, why can he ghost-smoke like that? What's his backstory?". "What is Overwtch? Who started it, who operates it?". The Devs had not given it a second thought really, they looked a bit surprised that they got so many questions about background and lore! So they started to release the "Character backstory" or "Character Introduction"-cinematics and people loved 'em!.

If you're on that map of defense, walk down the road that leads to the payload, but instead of turning to the payload, keep going forward through a little arch and down some stairs. boom you're at the door.

soldier 76 was part of a Super Soldier program to fight the Omnics, out of 100 he was number 76 (Hence the name) before the explosion he was pretty much Captain America after the explosion he turned into the Punisher and going completely Vigilante.

Everyone probably struggled in the beginning, some people who have played shooter games on the same platform they play Overwatch on will probably pick it up at little quicker but speaking from my own experience I can tell you, it's hard but it will get easier. You new players who started playing with Overwatch 2 kind of have it easier, I got overwhelmed with 22 heroes all of the original maps and just the concept of a shooter in general since Overwatch was my first real PC game (aside from Minecraft). Give it a couple of months and it will get easier. Tip: Watch high level players streams and maybe some tutorial videos on characters you like

as a Moira main myself with over 200+ hours look up Tesla on twitch he's a grand master moira and is a great way to learn to play her mechanically better and getting better at special awareness :D

Not all playable characters in Overwatch were part of the Overwatch organization. It's just that they are all have some tie to Overwatch or the things that happened in this world. So some characters are actually enemies of the Overwatch organization

overwatch 1's story was told through comics, cinematics, gameplay interactions, etc. so actually getting all the lore together on your own can be challenging. there are lore videos people have made tho

Mostly when it came to overwatch lore, you get some from just seeing things in the maps and slight before battle talk. Then we have comics, and cinamtics to add to it. Origin stories too, and then what ever talk about from blizzard, which is paste together to fit a lore. It fun, but hard , so hopefully story mode for 2, might add to it easier

Why is widowmaker evil? Originally she wasn't. She was a ballerina named Amelié that was married to an overwatch agent. Then she got captured by Talon and brainwashed by Moira to kill her husband Gerard. Later on becoming an assassin for Talon.

As an ex-top 500 player and gm4 player right now, don't be ashamed of playing Moira, she is not as OP as people make her to be!

Don't worry you will get better on this game. It is hard as hell. But I started getting kills and even when I get in a lobby of cheaters that use aimbot I still won because aimbotters don't go for the mission they only go for kills.

Why genji was so mush more superior to hanzo in that fight was becouse hanzo is a sword master, an alot more superor sword master to genji. But after he ”killed” his brother he swore to never pick up the blade again, and he started practicing bow instead. In the middle of the cinematic u see that he is praying in front of a sword, that is his sword he killed genji with.

20:39 I'm not sure if it is explained in these videos, but I think that Reaper and Mercy were both part of an experiment, with Mercy being the success and Reaper being a failure. That gave Mercy her life giving abilities, but made Reaper's life degrade.
