it does not get in the way too bad depending on the net. A longer handled net fits in the sling better, though with the waist pack you may be reaching around your net to access the pockets. This is the conundrum with slings and nets.

For a 169 dollars you can get the simms freestone bag or for 119 you can get the fishpond sling 2.0. These bags seem like okay quality but are grossly over priced. Very poorly designed bag for the money. Don’t buy.
Certainly not poorly designed, we would say they are very well designed and of great quality with solid materials. We give it a sold "do buy". Simms, Patagonia, and Fishpond all have great customer support for any manufacturer's mishaps or failures. Buy what fits your gear and your budget, enjoy it, and have fun on the water. As for price, you can carry your gear in a plastic bag from City Market if you want and it is FREE.
