Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I have been on the verge of buying one for about a year, but could not make up my mind. I'm one of those people who want "the best one" and become paralyzed by indecision.
I ordered the a6s and got it yesterday. I have only microneedled once with a .2mm roller. it hurt, and I've been tattooed for 5 hrs in one day. admittedly a cheap roller, so I ordered a .5mm and a 1mm from gin amber as you recommended. the a6s is a DREAM compared to that cheap roller. can't wait for the gin amber ones to come. today with the a6s I did .25mm under my eyes, .5mm, .75mm on various other face areas and neck, and 1mm on some body areas with stretch marks and loose skin - all with the cos de baha hyaluronic acid and NO numbing cream. all with only one battery.. awesome and easy. can't wait for the 4-6 weeks to pass to see results and do a 2nd session. thank you so much. I love your channel.
Thank you for taking the time to break down the difference with these pens. There were so many options on the website and I could not decide I and just felt confused. You have helped me decide M8 is best for me.
I must say, I really love you. Just great, detailed information plus you are always so thorough. Please, please keep doing what you are doing. You have provided so much education to your fellow Aesthetician (like me) who find it difficult to navigate through all the fluff and find the facts. Thank you so much!!
Yay, I'm so glad you did this video. I was having such a hard time deciding between the a6s and the A7. I wanted finer needles but I also wanted more power and the option of being plugged in if I wanted. I almost did not purchase the a6s because of availability of cartridges. But then on your Facebook group, one of the members left a comment that the M8 cartridges are interchangeable with the a6s. So I bought the a6s because of the many options. It arrived a few days ago. I can't wait to get started!
Is that true? Can it be interchangeable??? I was debating which one to buy. I want the M8 bcuz the 36g 16pin, but also I saw that A6s has the 3L connecter same as the M8, 16pin and the advantage of having a Backup 🔋
Penny your skin is looking the best it’s ever looked imo! Like.... WOW! I mean you’ve always had beautiful skin, today it just looks EXCEPTIONALLY GREAT 😊♥️
You are my microneedling hero! Thank you again for all your well educated advice! I've had the A6 for a year or so and never knew you could change the speed! I'm excited to try it! thanks again!
I have been wanting to buy a microneedling pen for sometime but just couldn’t decide on which one. I believe the A6 might be the best option for me. Thank you for your vast knowledge. Love your content.
Penny is correct about the difficulty of finding refills and such for Devices that are New or Devices that have a newer model. It is 2023. I purchased the Hydra H3 Pen which follows Penny's. Device was bought on Amazon...but there are no cartridge refills for H3 on Amazon. For a moment, I thought I would have to return it. But, then... I found one company in the USA that sells refills. The rest are in UK and South Korea. If anyone sees this post and wants contact info for such a company...let me know? The H3 is a different version with more goodies of course. It has a dial to move around from .25 up to 1.0...without swapping out the cartridge. No wasting of cartridges when moving between different needle lengths. Nano HR is for wrinkles and Nano HS is for eyes. A third cartridge set is for ACNE, called H12.
Thankyou SO much for this!! Just a nice, quick, very informative, TO THE POINT video from a Professional who didn't go on & on about their whole life story... REFRESHING.. & after watching this- I know which pen I'm going to purchase now!
I have watched this about 32 times, and I THINK I’ve finally decided, like Sumer. Too many choices for someone who can’t decide if I want my burger with or without cheese! Thank you so much for this. Denise
Good morning beautiful! You never fail to impress me with your knowledge!! For now I guess I'll stick with my manual derma roller, but I know where to go should I decide to try a pen. Thank you very much for sharing this information with us. Blessings, and love, Penny..MaryEllen
Hi Penny I ended up returning the A6S and ordered the A7 I used it tonight for the first time , I used the 36 pin needles since it was my first time . Didn’t bleed but did get the light redness, again since it’s my first time I thought it’s best to ease into this . I do feel like I have a sun burn. I am excited to wake up to glowing skin😊thank you so much for all your tips . Looking forward to more videos from you
Sherine Barry as long as your device (microcurrent) is clean you can resume the day after you needle (technically). I usually wait a couple days so my skin doesn’t feel warm or sensitive. Microcurrent is an approved “clinical intervention” by Dr Setterfield 💜
Peg you are the GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!! I need to watch this when I’m not doing something else and I’ve been waiting for this updated video since there are so many that have come out in recent year. I REALLY feel Dr. Pen should give you an affiliate code for all the research and information you provide for educational purposes. YOU are truly their most valuable asset! Thank you again. Do you think that micro-needling will help my large pores, and crepey skin? I notice my foundation is not staying on as well as it used to and I’m wondering if micro-needling would be something that might HELP that. Would love your take on it. Thank you again for all you do!!
Hi Penn. I remember when you first opened your channel. You have so many subscribers now. You did so well. But of course, your content is always so good.
Ok, I'm taking the plunge and ordering the A7 today. I have been watching microneedling videos for a couple weeks and thanks to you, now have the confidence to order one!
Hi there, also attracted to A7, have u seen improvement and are u satisfied with your choice? Thanks in advance. (So torn between a6s and a7 and m8 rn)
Penny, thank you so much for this amazing video. The skincare knowledge you share with others here on your channel is extraordinary and I appreciate the time you take to share it with us - also, I really appreciate how you always, always, always put safety first. 🙏🏼
Pam Fisher thank you Pam! This cat is usually MUCH fluffier but my kids feed her from the breakfast table and she wound up with clumps of syrup in her fur and had to get a major haircut....lol
Thank you for all the information. It is so very helpful and amazing. However could you please recommend one pen that will not get outdated soon and is really good. If you were to choose only one which one would that be? Thank you so very much.
Wow thank you for such an in-depth review and comparison. I think I’ll go with the a7. I like the simple mechanics and the corded option. (I think you get more machine for less $ with a corded option vs battery. At least that’s my experience buying power tools with my husband 😂) I just need to make sure the cartridges are avail like you said Penn!
Penny, I think I've watched all your micro needling videos, but I don't think you covered the purpose of RPM. ie. when is it appropriate to use slower vs faster? Is it related to the length of setting? Or, how fast you move across the face? Thank so much!!
You're welcome! I've updated the post. Penn talked about it - but we all know, she's so full of knowledge it's hard to keep up with all her good work 🥰
It's about control and confidence with your tool on which area and what depth. Slower setting & slower movements accordingly for more delicate areas and when you go deeper. You can watch Penns answer on her video: FRIDAY Q&A microneedling cartridge type explained speed setting to use, at 7:59 min into the video. Hope this helps 🌸🤗
Wowee!🤯 This video is the most comprehensive video that I have seen on Doctor Pens💜💜💜💜. Your advice is concise, thorough and disciplined. I appreciate the fact that you are a licensed🥼 Practitioner, and it shines through in your presentation. Well done! I look forward to integrating your teachings. PS, I have two✌️A1 Dr.Pens, cartridges and a pantry of authentic K Beauty just waiting to be needled into the surface of my skin and, I've yet to use them. WHY🤔? 🤗 So glad you asked; allow me to explain. 🤓I have watched countless videos on micro-needling from a variety of content creators. However, I've yet to find a video that explains best practices on how each cartridge should be utilized. For example, what are the Benefits of a nano cartridge? How is it used, and on what part of the body is it used? Thank you for sharing your insight and enthusiasm.
I try. I’ve actually worked on that over the years. It drives me crazy to watch someone with a 4 minute intro lol Sometimes I need to be wordy but I always hope there’s value in the intro not just blah blah blah lol 💜💜
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Yes! Exactly! Some intros can be ten minutes long and I just fast forward or move on. Really love your channel and see people talk about your channel on Amazon reviews, telling people to consult your channel for more info :-)
I can’t imagine using any of these outside of a clinical setting, on myself. You’re an aesthetician so it’s different. But I’ve had so many odd skin reactions to everything under the sun my entire life that I could never do it to myself.
Ladies, I am SO grateful for all of you who discuss the decision paralysis. I want a pen that works for wrinkles and - I guess with different cartridges - on stretch marks, though I wonder if derma rolling would be better for that. I would appreciate any insight any of you has. Also, can I use copper peptides with this?
@@mariaane7542 I use the nano tips for my clients and the needles for me. I numb my self for 20 minutes. I’m only an esthetician so I don’t use needles on clients. Yes it is painful without numbing. And start low and slow. Little depth firat
Hi Penny. Thanks so much for your video! It was great, but I still don't know which machine to buy. I'm a 52 year old woman who wants it for collagen production, anti-aging, fine lines and pore minimization. I can't decide between the A6S, the Hydra and the M8.
Wow! Loved the presentation! I am in the market for pens so i can wait with cartridge availability. I think i want to go with the A6S and the hydra pen . I want to use the Hydra for cosmetic needling only like you syggested! Ty for helping me make my decision😊
Could you please make a demonstration video for the options that you presented also the information about best serum to use with each needle size and penetration depths will be very useful. Thanks again for a very informational, as always great videos.
So fantastic! Thanks so much for doing the A6S review that I and I’m sure many others requested.😊 So after all of this which one of the current Dr. Pens in this review is your favorite all around for CIT?
Hey Penny! Im esthetician myself I love your videos they are so educational ☺️. I wanted to know what pen and gauge would be great for acne scarring and hyperpigmentation??? I’m new to the mirconeedling treatment.
Wonderful video as always! Thank you so much 😊. Can you recommend a fine gauge derma stamp ? I’m really more comfortable with a stamp because I feel I can control it better. I’d like a .25mm stamp and a .5mm stamp . But nobody ever lists the gauge of their needles. Dr Pen has an adjustable stamp with a .25mm diameter. Which is between 31 and 32 gauge . But I’d love a 34 gauge stamp . Thank you for your awesomeness 😎
Thank you for the video. I have watch all your videos and find them very helpful. I plan to purchase and micro needle at home. I'm learning about from you and look forward to more knowledgeable videos from you.
Hi Penn, with the M8 & fine needling you mentioned there is less trauma to your skin. With less trauma will it take longer to see results with collagen production for fine lines/wrinkles.
I'm typing this while watching, so please ignore if you're going to say later but I'm hoping to catch your attention before this video ages: would you say the A6S is the best one to date?
Sumer Tatum-Clem yes I would. The versatility of this pen (corded or wireless) along with all components being digital and cartridges available in multiple forms makes it a wonderful all round pen!
Hi penny, Love your channel! I have been using a derma roller for the last year. I feel I have seen great results but would like to transition to a pen. If u have time, could u maybe do an updated video explaining that transition. I have watched all the videos about this subject but I’m still a little confused of the speed u would choose and the products. As I derma roll dry and then go to bed. Morning start with the skin care. Also your skin looks beautiful!
love you, you get straight to the business !!! and i like that!! great you help me choose my pen !! i am a first time user! thank you!!! please give me a list of good products to use with it as well. Happy Holidays!!
Hi!! First, let me say I’m become obsessed with your videos...if I lived in Washington..you’d be my esthetician for sure!!!!! Good job!!! Ok, here’s my question! I just received my first Dr. Pen Ultima A6.... but after putting it all together and turning on....2things...1. Am I supposed to be able to see the needles going up and down? Mine seem to be vibrating but not going up and down....and I can’t seem to find any good answer to this....some say it’s going so fast the naked eye can’t see it going up and down, others say no it’s only supposed to vibrate. And 2. Are the needles supposed to stick out past the blue end of the cartridge? The higher I put the gage up....say from .5 to 1.0...the needles are out past the blue...which to me is just dragging needles across face with the h.a. product I’m using. So just want to make sure this pen is working right and not defective due to these 2 questions. An answer would be much appreciated...I’m afraid to start using as I think if it’s defective it will cause more damage than good!! And if i need to return, i want to do ASAP and get it replaced. Thank you so much!!!!
Nancy Braun days 1-5 red, tight, dry, itchy, flaking skin is normal. Then that all slightly subsided and by day 10 the skin is glowy from a gentle resurfacing 💜
the High MW HA from timeless contains "Benzylalcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid". I am not very knowledgeable but, wouldn't these be harmful for the skin after micro needling? I trust your professional opinion.
I went ahead and purchased the A6S and extra 16 pin cartridges. Love that it can be used cordless and can easily change needle depth for differed areas of the face, neck and chest, I needle every 6 week and alternate with tca peel. So glad I purchased it.
My A6 never consistently charged either of the 2 batteries AND the corded connection didn't work. When I contacted them through Amazon, they said they couldn't send new parts so the just sent me more needles. UNLESS!
New to watching your videos, love them because they are so informative and you get straight to the point. Can you give me advice on which microdermabrasion device is a good one to use at home, still giving professional results? I have been wanting to purchase one for the longest time. Your advice will be much appreciated.😘
Hi Penny. Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge with everyone!! I am a Licensed Esthetician 10 years now, and a Esthetics Instructor. I would appreciate it if you could go a little more in depth regarding the different speeds the pen(s) have, and any advice on how to adjust according to certain areas of the face/neck/de'collete'. I am starting to use Microneedling on myself since NYS has changed some of the SOP here. I can no longer get my services from a LE now the temporary mandate is to get them from an Acupuncturist which to me is not making sense in my Esty Brain.
We just went through that in Oregon and luckily our state passed that LE's can still microneedle! I have new microneedling content planned for the near future, I will try my best too include your question in an upcoming video 😊
GREAT video as usual!!! You always provide so much information and that’s a good thing! I’ve narrowed my decision down to two: either the A6 or the Dr. Pen M8. Can you give me your thoughts? I think either one would be good.
I purchased the A7 since I don't mind the cord and I really like the consistent power. It is still in the box as I had to wait until the HA serum arrived. Now that it has, (deep breath), I have to give it a go. I know not to microneedle over any breakouts but I am curious about any other skin conditions that should not be needled such as psoriasis or eczema. Also if people microneedle to promote hair growth what about women who have to contend with facial hair?
I went to the Amazon link for the A7 and the site said it was out of stock and unknown if/or when it would be restocked. Did you get yours at Amazon, it not would you mind saying where? Thanks so much! p
@@Blessedpb I did get mine on Amazon, but I also got the "out of stock" notice for the link provided in the video. When I just looked for it on Amazon without going through the link I found it with no problem. Hope this helps :)
Oh, thank you, Jan! Yes, that helps considerably. I dunno, perhaps if I could not figure that out - electric, pulsating needles may not be that safe in my hands. :^D Thanks again for the heads up! Blessings, p
@@jansmith3613 Thank you very much for the reassurance. I've been using the hand rollers since Jan. 2020 - I originally bought them over 2 years ago and just never got around to it - well, more like couldn't get up the nerve. :^) When I did - there was nothing to it. Therefore, I have just decided to go "high tech". Penn.Smith and I also listen to Beauty by Anne, have been so helpful in my quest and now you too! Thank you again! Be full of blessing ...and collagen! :^D p
There is no official drpen website. These pens are manufactured in China and distributed to independent resellers and they'll all claim to be the "official" distributor. You just gotta take the risk.
@@casey1763 perhaps but why waste more money traveling to China when you can buy it from any reseller? my point is, all resellers are probably selling a similar product without a genuine company backing with QA testing, etc. I just got my A6S from the Amazon reseller mentioned here and it seems to work fine.
@@Youdude2 thanks! I've been trying to work out for the last few weeks which pen to get and where from. The Chinese sellers on eBay are selling it for £50 and then the UK/US sellers double that price and more! They all claim to be genuine, its confusing but I'm still tryin to make my mind up.
I found the dr.pen website, and they say they don't have any authorized distributors. But dr.pen USA and Dr. Pen Australia day they are... Confusing. Dr.pen.com Dr.penusa.com
Great vid. Just concerned that for scarring, will I not see as good results with 34-gauge needles are opposed to 31 or 32 ones? Because it's nice that the needles are finer so I won't look as beat afterwards.
Hi Penn, I recently bought the M8 and used it at .5 depth for the first time a week ago. I felt virtually nothing while needling and didn’t get any redness at all. Zero. At one point I was actually wondering if it was working! I’m thinking maybe I set the speed too low, but I did the three passes. Starting to wish I’d gotten the A6S... not sure ... any advice for my next try with the M8? Thank you 🙂
thank you for the video. I think when you have the Dr. Pen already it doesn`t make sense to buy the hydra pen, it is not that hard to disinfect hands when you touch your face. And with Dr. Pen you have much more features. I think the hydra is just another new gadget to make money.
Hi PENNY. Again.... ur videos is addictive!!!! Thank u again for all this treasure. I notised that u have some private videos. I am looking for BB glow tutorial from u and I cant find anything. Is there is a way to get to ur private videos?
Hi, I'm a new subscriber & I have been binge watching your videos. Lol.. they are all so informative & you do such an amazing job on all that I've seen & this video did not disappoint! Thx for sharing all your knowledge with us! Can you tell me when a 36 would be more beneficial than a 12 or 16? Thx so much💙
Thank you so much for all the information you provide in your channel. I absolutely love it! I’ve watched your needling video a few times and I think I’m leaning towards the A6S. I’m interested in doing needling for collagen, pores and fine lines. Would you say the A6S would be a good choice? I’m 52 and have only briefly done the needling using a roller but I feel this would be a better option! Thanks 😊
Hi Penny. Thank you so much for these videos. I am 60 and trying to decide between the A6S and M8. It appears that the only difference is in the 17,000 with the A6S vs 16,000 rpms with the M8. Both have the same needles, correct? Which feels better in your hands? I really appreciate the information!
That was cool I have a1 because it goes deepest. I will try the a8 for the 34 g I would get a6s but I think that is better for people who do it professionally
Can you do video of images of before and after results when they are used for acne scarring? Or go over how often someone should use them without hurting their skin and what after treatment should be used while the skin heals ? Thank you
This blog I wrote should help you 😊 It answers most of these questions www.pennsmithskincare.com/post/post-microneedling-when-to-add-serums-devices-and-other-skincare-back-into-your-routine
