The reasonFlukenest is so incredibly broken on some bosses is that it's hitbox lingers which can multihit bosses that are shifting alot like Xero or Gorb but that's why the they have Shamans equipped more often because it's more consistent with bosses and overworld enemies
I think what is also interesting is Fireborn's explanation to the evolution of the speedrun of Path of pain and Explosion pogo. They are really interesting as well
If you're wondering what that menu is, it's called an inventory knockback cancel. You open your inventory on the same frame you take damage and if you do it right it cancels the knockback and you get a fancy little frame.
@@Limcube I personally haven't seen it used for the Garpede room. You tend to see inventory knockback cancels when damage tanking! For instance, the False Knight or the Vengefly king
The reason that (I believe) spells are used is because (along with already stupidly powerful damage) there are multiple bosses that scale their base HP off how many nail upgrades you have. Because of this, by waiting to get nail upgrades until after these bosses, you can absolutely mow the lawn with these guys using spells.
Something pretty interesting is that during the absolute radiance fight, you can sometimes see Scruffy quickly turn back and forth while swinging. This is because quick slash actually reduces how fast you swing your nail so much that it’s faster than the animation for swinging. So when you turn quickly you’re able to swing again immediately instead of waiting for the animation to finish. I know there are some runs against Any Radiance (supposed to be an impossible version of Radiance) where this is fully utilized and it’s super cool to see

Also, you should really check out the IL combat speedruns (like the Pantheons and Colos), they're INSANE. Like, they're probably the most impressive thing I've seen people do in this game. @@Limcube You should see the most recent Pantheon 5 world record run, it utilizes flukenest insanely well. Also there is a modded boss "Any Radiance" that's supposed to be impossible to beat but some players actually have beat it. It's insane.
I have to say, I am very impressed with your ability to commentate the insanely fast run so cleanly! It reminds me of sports commentators a little. I would love to see you react to a TAS run. I can't find a 112% TAS anywhere at the moment but the any% run by Constructive Cynicism from around a year ago is... well, I hope you'll see.
Flukenest has a bug where fluke's hitbox stays longer and therefore hits more times. And it even without bugs does a little more damage than usual shade soul. And about dream bosses: their hp kinda scales to the level of your nail so runners dont uprade it until the end.
27:04 I think I know the purpose of going back and fourth like this. its a setup to make it easier to perfectly time going through the door. if you just stand there and time it manually, its hard to time precisely because the only reference point for timing it that you have is visuals. But by going back and fourth, you can utilize move cooldowns and muscle memory to time it more precisely.
Flukenest was fcked up by the devs and given spaghetti code, a long string of code that makes it linger (even when the model is off the screen) and a constant damage in whatever spot fluke nest was originally cast, you cast it 4 times imagine multiple shade souls hitting over and over after you already cast it
The inventory fall on current patch is only posible with a frame perfect click on the ledge of a platform. So no mistake, he needed just to do it until he made the frame perfect.
If you were confused about what you need for 112%, you need: Bosses beaten, Dream bosses/dreamers, Mask shards, Vessel fragments, Nail arts, Spells, Equipment, Charm, Dream-nail (And seing the Seer assend), Nail upgrades, Colosseum, Finding Godhome and Beating all of Patheons (Except Pantheon of Hollownest)
for your information, the main reason they made it so you have to do apb was to make it more climactic and in 106 they fight nkg because they wanted to make it more climatic yet botw 100% doesn't end on gannon

@@Limcube For my first run I beat, I highly recommend using Unbreakable Strength, Shaman, Quickly Slash, Longnail and after you beat white defender, you'll get a bench. I recommend swapping long nail for nailmasters glory and grub song. If you also want to, replace quick with mark of pride. The next bench after that I recommend going with quick slash, strength, shaman, steady body and grubsong. Learn to use steadu body as it really helps with the final boss
wow, the routing has changed significantly since the last time i watched 112%APB runs. looks like there is tons of room for optimization too. looking forward to seeing you learn the speedruns for HK, it's one of my favorite games to watch. tons of variety in the runs and a great rando community too if you're into that.
Btw I dont know if you figured this out later, but you have a big misconception with the whole "nail damage increasing hp" thing. The only bosses with a significant effect to their hp from nail upgrades are the dream warriors around the map. Some bosses do have minor hp upgrades at the last two nail upgrades, but they don't have any hp upgrades from the first couple nail upgrades. Spells are just that good when used correctly, most of these kills have nothing to do with abusing lack of nail upgrades

I believe the reason we meet Pure Vessel only in pantheon is because godmaster brings out their full potential. Therefore we're facing off against Pure Vessel before he got corrupted by the plague that came from Radiance. I'm up to being wrong on this, but I believe this is the case.
I didn't even know what to do after one of the first bosses (idk the name it was a girl with a whip or smth) let alone beat the game, even with tutorials I had no idea what to do I wandered for hours and hours aimlessly trying to find something but couldn't find a way to progress any further and eventually just quit the game
