I love the totally thorough justifications for the extra fairies on Diantha's team. The type does fit her better than those overused fossil pokemon. I always figured Lysandre would go for "prettier" Pokemon. Honchkrow makes a lot of sense, and I'd personally change Cyrus' team to have more "mechanical, emotionless" pokemon. As for the rivals, they're near perfect, save one. GIVE SHAUNA HER GOODRA YOU COWARD

Look, all the teams are amazing, but the one trouble I have is the Calem team. He canonically has Chespin as his starter in 2 different scenarios. 1 being the Manga where he has one named Marisso and one in the Generations series when fighting against AZ. So just because Ash is like the Calem of the anime and Calem wears blue and Greninja is popular for the stupid reasons I've listed oh so many times, he should have Chespin no matter what. Yes Chespin does fit Shauna for the positivity, but that's the one acception I would've had. But even then, that's one reason out of the multiple reasons and proof I gave for Calem having Chespin.

Here would be my team for the Player character (following Red rules of static encounters and gifts only): - Greninja (Calem)/Delphox (Serena): Their starter - Mega Charizard X (Calem)/ Mega Charizard Y (Serena): The starter they get from Prof. Sycamore - Snorlax: The one blocking the way in the games - Tyrunt (Calem)/ Amaura (Serena): The fossil you obtain - Mega Lucario: The one you get from Korrina -Lapras: The one you get from some random breeder

The writers for the XY anime should have had every gym leaders after Korrina have mega evolution. A really big missed opportunity there.

Great list, Zac. As someone who likes the XY games, I do believe these choices would've improved the games and made it less easy. I don't really have much for Alola, since Gym Battles are replaced with Totem Battles, but I do have 2 things 1. Kukui should definitely have Incineroar as his canon starter, it fits too well with his Masked Royal persona (also anime) 2. It would be cool if Lusamine had an Ultra Beast on her team. I'd give her Pheromosa as they look kinda similar.

i agree with all of this. the gym leaders dont use mega evolution like what the hell!? same goes for the elite four. i didnt take team flare seriously since they dont have any fire types! hence the name: team flare! (how could they screw that up!?)

Here's something I would fix: Grant should still have Amaura and Tyrunt, but he'll have an Aerodactyl I feel like your reasoning on why Clemont should have a Mega Manectric is too weak. The games aren't dependent on the anime. I'd give him Manectric for balancing reasons. A Mega Evolved Dragon-type like Mega Ampharos is a little brutal, although it'd fit his theme. For Valerie, she could switch between Aromatisse or Slurpuff depending on which version I'd remove the Xatu and Delphox from Olympia's team. Give her a Male Meowstic and a Malamar. They fit her aesthetic more. Wulfric should have a Mamoswine instead of an Aurorus. Give Lysander his Honchcrow back and give it Heat Wave. His Mega Gyarados should also be locked as shiny. Mega Aggron fits Wikstrom more than Mega Scizor. The anime doesn't always drive the games. A literal beast shrouded in full-metal armor sounds like it'll fit him. Drasna having Mega Garchomp is fitting because she's from Sinnoh. Your reasons for Diantha were actually good. I'd lock her Florges as a White Flower one to encapsulate its rareness-also since its appearance fits Diantha a lot. I'd also remove Gourgeist in favor of a bulky Fairy-type Clefable. As for Trevor and Tierno, just give them the Kanto starters you didn't choose. Oh and give Shauna back her Goodra. She won't be needing that Blastoise if you give it to the other two rivals anymore. Giving her a Furfrou was also a very good idea. It fits her having a Delcatty and Sylveon.

I agree with your choices but I have Callum mega Evolve Gengar so he and Serena don’t use the same Mega and I agree that Characters should used Mega Evolution as frequently in X and Y as Sun and Moon used Z Moves and Sword and Shield did with Dynamax and Gigantamax.

Heeeey Zac I’ve got the perfect idea for Acerola’s Elite Four Team! She will have Mimikyu, Mismagius, Dhelmise, Froslass and Palossand! Mimikyu because she needs an Alolan Ghost type to represent her team. Mismagius is an obvious choice because of her dress have you seen her dress? It looks like a witch!!! And she should have one! What do you think about this team does it suit well?

Big thumbs up for giving Mega Evolution for all E4 trainers. I hate, how in Gen 6 GameFreak introduced this cool feature with 20+ different forms, only for you to encounter 3-4 at best in the main story, and the rest were left as post-game material.
