My Opinion On All the Elite Four Members and Champions

Shauntal's design and concept always reminded me a lot of Velma from Scooby Doo. Especially considering that she is a Ghost-type user.

Alder may not be best battle wise and it may be shame for him to lose the champion title right before you plan to face him. But honestly, if you've played the Gen 5 games properly, Alder has the most depth in his character. His character is unique and relatable, and plus I love his character design

Am I seriously the only one in this world who likes Diantha? Everyone always says how easy she is but I actually really liked her team. All of them are some of my favorite Pokémon, I liked her in the anime, and I like her personality.

Hold on, I think I know what you mean about hau doing the rivalry thing wrong but you can't tell me that the character development of him going from "eh pokemon battles are just fun, no big deal" to "Yo if I get stronger then it puts a responsibility on me to protect the ones I love" type of personality wasn't amazing. Favourite elite 4s: 1) Lorelei: awesome, both for an ice type trainer and a first elite 4 battle. Cool design too. 2) Koga: challenging trainer, nice character development and also a fucking ninja! 3) Lance: well, there's not much to say. He was the original badass in pokemon, when dragon types where rare and hard to get and fight against. 4) Flint: i loved his friendship with volkner and the double fight against them in platinum. Nice diverse team in diamond and pearl. 5) Karen: nice presentation, design and team, especially Houndoom. Very underrated. 6) Marshall: i think he was the most challenging and interesting elite 4 member in unova. 7) Caitlin: very nice throwback to platinum, the only game where i completed the battle park. Very interesting character. It was just a little underwhelming battle. Favourite champions: 1) Cynthia: definitely the best one. She shines in every single aspect. 2) Blue: the perfect final match for your first pokemon adventure. 3) Steven: not that challenging in the remakes (except for Metagross), but he's still a good character

In my opinion Alder is the Jiraya of Pokemon, because of that meme when Cynthia rejects his request for a date. I just wish Game Freak makes a more mature Pokemon anime. At least a TV-14 rating would be great.

To me, Drake will always be a badass. Anime, video game, whatever...he is perhaps the most badass Elite Four member we've seen in the game. Not the strongest of the bunch, but you can bet that a bed of nails sleeps on him.

Gen 5 was my first generation for games, anime, and the manga. Gen 5 started my love for pokemon

Lorelei: I think she's pretty attractive and I also love how you encountered her earlier in the Let's Go games. Bruno: While Fighting is in my top 5 favorite types, the only thing I remember about Bruno was when Chuggaaconroy gave him an Arnold Schwarzenegger voice. Agatha: While she is a definite poser, I definitely like her appearance in Pokemon Generations where she hid a Poke Ball in her cane so her Gengar can make a cool entrance. Lance: Is pretty cool, not exactly the best Champion, but how can you go wrong with an awesome Dracula cape. Blue: Hate his guts, but is three way tied with Cynthia and Hugh for characters that I un-ironically think of as cool. (the fact his team is so balanced also helps) Trace: Is an interesting spin on things, but Blue is definitely better (though I did like his role in the Marowak Arc). Gen 2: Will: Tuxedo Mask called, he wants his aesthetic back! Jokes aside, Will is an interesting character, though not the best Psychic Trainer. Koga: Can't go wrong with a ninja. Karen: I adore her philosophy since I'm not exactly too big on competitive Pokemon, occasional forays into Showdown not withstanding. Gen 3: Sidney: I think he's pretty cool and pretty nice for a guy who'd look like he'd mock you for being a plus size driving a VW Beetle (nothing beats a good Gabriel Iglesias reference). Phoebe: Stands out to me for how non-spooky she is among Ghost Type Trainers (even Acerola gives me a bit of a spooky vibe). Glacia: Reminds a little too much of Rosalina from Mario Galaxy. Drake: I really like his design as a muscle bound sailor, but he's still a bit below Drayden for me (it's Drayden's beard that sells it for me). Steven: Dude freaking sparkles with class, and his Metagross is a beast when it Mega Evolves. Wallace: Not much to say except he's FABULOUS! Gen 4: Aaron: The only thing that stands out about this guy is his Idiot Hair that would make Saber blush. Bertha: She's pretty sweet. Flint: That afro though. He's a total poser though. Lucian: Reminds me of Sebastian from Black Butler. Cynthia: Do I really have to say anything about her? Gen 5: Shauntal: The Pokemon equivalent of Edgar Allen Poe. Marshall: Reminds of Ryu from Street Fighter. Grimsley: Know him better in Gen 7. Caitlin: I relate to her constant need for sleep. N: Definitely my favorite villain in the franchise. Alder: He's pretty cool despite not being the greatest Champion. Iris: My third favorite Champion below the two Gen 7 challengers. Gen 6: Malva: I like how she was a former villain and it was so fun to just bulldoze her team with a Rhydon. Siebold: Love his mannerisms but I hate his team (Starmie can die in a hole), at least the battle was fun to mow down with Mega Venusaur. Wikstrom: I'm a sucker for knightly characters. Drasna: I like her design and personality, and it was so fun pulling off a near Garchomp sweep against her (near because it got taken out at some point so I had Mega Lucario clean up). Diantha: The only thing I can say about her is that she taught me how to love Charizard again (not that I hated Charizard, I was just kind of jaded by the haters). Gen 7: Hala: The big lug is pretty fun to fight against because of how much of a beating his team can take. Molayne: A pretty substantial challenge even with type weaknesses. Olivia: Is it weird that I find her Elite Four challenge to be a bit more manageable than the Grand Trial? Acerola: My favorite Ghost Type Trainer and a pretty challenging fight in her own right. Kahili: She's pretty easy to deal with, but I love her golfer persona. Professor Kukui: A big surprise when I first played the game, and very challenging with his use of Stealth Rock (I nickname him Smogon Professor for that use of Stealth Rock). Hau: I don't care what anyone says Hau in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will always be my favorite Rival, even if the Champion fight with him is basically an ape of the fight with Wally in ORAS.

Mystic: *doesn't like hau* Me: *Hau* dare you.

Hau is the only friendly rival done right other than Cheren, Bianca, and Hugh, so I like him as a Champion because the value of defeating my friend who starts the journey together with me is much more meaningful rather than the feeling of trying to beat someone's ass because they're an asshole.

Steven and Iris are great champions. They can be a legitimate threat if you get careless, and they use my favorite Pokemon, Aggron, to boot. However, I have to say that Platinum's version of the Sinnoh Elite Four and Cynthia take the cake. I've actually replayed Platinum recently, and the Elite Four was pretty brutal when I went in. Aaron was easily able to wipe my team multiple times, and the rest gave me some pretty close calls. But Aaron as a huge struggle point for me. The only true counter I had for him was my Houndoom, but because bug type moves are neutral against Houndoom, (and Houndoom isn't the best defensively) if I didn't one-shot something I lost. Cynthia was also a struggle, I didn't lose to her, but there were multiple points where I was thinking, "if I get outsped/one-tapped here I lose the battle. All around the best Elite Four and Champion.

Favorite Champion: Cynthia. She is a Goddess, she is challenging, she has a wonderful premise, she is smart, she is gorgeous, she is literally everything I love about pokemon all combined into one person. Close second goes to N. I actually never knew what his full name was until now...I dig it. Also love his outlook on life, and his battle theme is just sick. Favorite Elite 4 members (there's a lot of them for me): Karen - The only one of my favorites that I've never actually battled (never finished gen 2 sadly). I like her for the same reason that Mystic does: her mindset on what pokemon is truly about is top notch. Phoebe - Yum. :3 Drake - His demeanor is just so badass to me. Lucian - He is quite forgotten isn't he? It's sad...I like his premise a lot. Shauntal - Cutie. Also quite challenging for a ghost trainer, honestly. Marshal - I actually have a particular soft spot for this guy because of a specific encounter with him. Story time...so once, I was in the middle of battling him and I had a kickass Sawk on my team. Then he sent his out and it happened to be the same level as mine. I sent mine out, we battled em out....and mine one. He put up a good fight though not gonna lie...huge respect for him. Grimsley - His vibe makes me laugh, I see a bit of himself in me. Also I just have a soft spot for dark type trainers in general. Probably my favorite Elite 4 member if I'm being honest, although if I ever get to battle Karen anytime soon, that could potentially change... Drasna - Cute and charming in a motherly sense...though REALLY easy. Acerola - For obvious reasons. I put her up there with the dark type ones. Molayne - Quite a unique dude, especially the fact that his kind demeanor doesn't entirely fit the steel type too much...at least...not on the surface.

My favourites would have to be: 1) For the Elite 4: Lorelei, Karen, Phoebe, Lucian, Shauntal, Grimsley, Caitlin, Malva, Acerola, and Kahili. 2) For the champions: Lance, Steven, Cynthia, N, and Iris.

Do a "best girl" rating video. I'd go with Cynthia. She's great. Helpful, humble, nice, strong (iirc her ghost/dark pokemon whose english name I always forget was the last real challenge in a story fight). She's the ideal champ.

The only reason Flint had two fire types in Diamond/Pearl is because Infernape and Rapidash were the only fully evolved fire types available in the game. Once Platinum came out they fixed that, thank goodness.

8:18 Alder is the Champion of Unova. He's less of a surmountable barrier and more of a kindly grandfather. He helps you throughout your journey in the first games and as the only champion with a bug ace is wirth mentioning. Now imagine remakes of Black and White 1 and 2 but with mega evolutions. Mega Volcarona for Alder and mega haxorus for Iris.

I really can't argue with most of these. There are still some games I haven't played for myself, so I can't give my opinions on all the Elite Four members, but I do know enough about the Champions that I can form opinions about them. Here's what I think of every Champion in two words: Blue = Worthy champion Lance = Deserved promotion Steven = Handsome prince Cynthia = Pokemon queen N = Complex hero Alder = Completely irrelevant Iris = Deserved promotion Diantha = Nazi enabler Kukui = Cool uncle Hau = Obnoxious cousin Trace = Knockoff Blue

I love Cynthia’s team, it’s so diverse and cool. My favorite Pokémon is Togekiss, and they helps a lot. I’m also a big fan of Roserade, Spiritomb, and Garchomp. Her team is awesome, and I love that she’s the champion of my favorite region. She’s so perfect for Sinnoh.

I LOVE Acerola, probably one of my favorite characters of all time. Her design game is on point. The patchwork style of her dress is so cool and matches really well with the whole Mimikyu gimmick.

What I think on the chapions: Blue: never got the chance to fight blue but still a badass Lance: Badass dragon user Steven: didn't think of anything until he got a shiny Metagross and became a badass for me. Wallace: He was a champion? Cynthia: Best Champion ever! Alder: Grandfather type of trainer, I like him! Also the first true champion I beat (I like N, just not as 'the champion') fight me! Iris: Good in the games as a champion ( was a surprise for me when she was the champ). But as a gym leader. No. In the Anime. Ugh. just, why.😑 Diantha: Was a breeze to go by just by my Charizard and Chestnaught alone. Like her design. Sucky champ though. Anime does her more justice.

Flint was pretty great since he was prominent throughout platinum like cynthia, though not as much. He was also just a chill ass dude. Loved flint. Plus i liked how in diamond and pearl he specialized in fire moves rather than just fire pokemon. Made his team more diverse since sinnoh didnt have many fire due to it being a winter region. Just like how it was cool that the ice chick from hoenn had ice pokemon to build up the world since not many trainers in universe would see ice types so having an ice type elite for would keep em on their toes

Olivia is not in love with Brock at all. There´s even a scene where she looks at Brock as someone creepy. Besides, Hau ISN´T a champion. He is just the first challenger YOU (the player) take as the first-ever champion from the Alola region. The same happens with Kukui he ISN´T the champion either. I agree with you in the fact that Unova elite 4 is underrated, I think it´s great. Personally, I think that Sinnoh elite 4 is the most forgettable of all (specially in designs, except for Flint. But at least Sinnoh has an amazing champion to make up for it). By the way, I kinda like Diantha. She is really elgant and has an amazing signature pokemon that really fits her design amd style. if she wasn´t the champion, I think that Siebold could be a good candidate for that title. And I like Dresna as elite four member because all in her design represents really well the dragon type (besides, I really like the theory that says that she and Cynthia are sisters).

I feel like I'm the only person who really enjoys flint only having 2 fire types. It gives him a lot of diversity and surprise at seeing a steelix of all things.

Olivia might be my favorite Elite Four. She wasn't terribly difficult, but I love her character, game and anime. She's so charming and seem like an enjoyable person to be around. Hala is a cool dude too.

I really like Flint, especially his DP team. Knowing that the Sinnoh region didn’t have a diverse selection of fire types, and knowing that he started out just like other trainers getting his Chimchar from Rowan, and going on his journey is really cool. It’s like a player character who got promoted to an Elite 4 member, and instead of catching new Pokémon, he just continued to use his team that he took through the region when he was younger. That’s how I see it at least.

Kukui was just a treat for me. I love the continuation from Kalos that the professors actually matter beyond their research. I love that the game states that he's traveled the pokemon world and he then brings out three pokemon from different regions, but never loses his Aloan heritage. Plus, my personal headcanon is that he took the starter that was not picked and trained it with the express intention of pitting it against you. Also, the guy is just a treat, love his personality, genuine love of pokemon and that he has a life outside of being a researcher/professor

I love Cynthia Platinum was my first Pokemon game, so didn't even know about there being an Elite 4, let alone a champion battle. So when I beat the Elite 4 and found out there was a 5th battle I was pretty surprised But then that 5th battle turned out to be this super cool yet mysterious girl helping all throughout our journey, yeah my mind was blown

Lucian is my least favorite elite four member because of how much trouble I had with Psychic-types when I first played through Platinum. My first team was Infernape, Graveler, Roserade, Golduck, Starapter, and Weavile. If not for Swoobat & Espeon, the Psychic-type would’ve been my least favorite type.

For me, Cynthia and Diantha were the best champions in their own ways. Cynthia: a great challenge rather then a character, it took me 3 to 4 tries before beating her (and milotic was my nemesis, not spiritomb) Diantha: a great character quite involved in the games story, she grew up on you for some reason, her fight wasn't that challenging, but it was fun anyway (surely better then the most recent one in swsh) All others were good, i liked them all, but those two are my N°1

ok, i'm gonna say something people won't agree with: i like diantha no really, i do. mega gardevoir is the only time i ever had serious trouble fighting a champion. i went into pokemon x without watching anything about it and diantha was one of only 2 battles that i had a hard time with. plus the kalos region was modeled on france, and diantha just fit with the region so well

Always liked Steven the most! I loved to fight with him together against Team Magma in Emerald.
