""" This is not a premium channel so you are not going to get premium content """ Are you kidding me ? I live in the UK so many of the cars you work on I wont ever see let alone work on... Im missing a really great film on the telly because Im watching you,,, So my answer to you Eric , yes it is..Ive looked at most of the mechanics on here and the RU-vid garage.. You sir are addictive, You sir have a very beautiful wife and daughter, ..The amount of time videoing, editing, outtakes camera positioning and uploading is staggering.. Thats a lot of time and effort , just of us...This channel isn't premium its PLATINUM .

Agree totally. I've learned so much from eric, it's begun to alter my approach to vehicle diagnosis and repair. Its unbelieveable the level of detail vehicles are designed with today, so that requires a highly detailed mechanic for diagnosis and repairs. Eric does an amazing job illustrating his D&R, and that to me makes this a very addictive PLATINUM channel.

You make some really good videos. I think it's great that your phone rings, the doorbell goes off, and people are coming and going at your place. That is what keeps you in business. Seeing your other half, helping you is nice too. Thanks for showing us all how things work, and sharing your time. Take care, and please keep making videos, if you can.

A very good alternate for silicone is Three Bond 1184. It remains pliable and can take several hundred degrees of heat. The beauty of Three Bond is that whatever migrates out of the gasket surfaces breaks down into very small soft granules that will not plug pumps or galleries or harm bearings. Several builders use it for motorcycle engines and have great success with it under severe racing conditions without failure.
@robertsmith9756
@robertsmith9756 8 месяцев назад
Agreed 100%, I love the stuff also sold as YamahaBond and Hondabond. The other sealant (in my opinion the correct one) for Transfer cases is Loctite 518 Gasket Maker Flange Sealant. I build and repair a lot of Chainsaws and Three Bond has never failed me.

Eric says, "This is not a premium channel so you are not going to get premium content." I love this. Many of the *great* artists say this same thing. To make a great film in any medium--theatrical film, television, RU-vid--you need a dozen or more specialists. e.g. cameraman, lighting, audio, script writer, screen play writer, star-actor, editor, director. There is a distinct Oscar award for all of these professions, since they are all hard and are all essential. The reason I became a monetary supporter of South Main Auto Repair, is that the large team of people who work on these videos are all the best in their professions, and each and every video they make is superb. Of course all of these many people are Eric O. It is an extraordinary thing to watch his output, particularly because he is unaware of what an exceptional act of genius each of these is. In addition the family bits he includes are so heartwarming, and his extreme excellence as a Master Mechanic is a joy to watch. Talk about giving the customer the best you can, and Eric O. is the canonical example.

Eric, our friend from Canada (Steve Rob) told me that this was a premium channel. I will have to agree with him. Nice video! I understand now how a transfer case goes back together. The only thing I can see that was lost from the deleted disassembly video. Was the verbal interaction from you. I hate to miss any interaction that might make me laugh! LOL! I learned a lot though. Also great seeing Mrs O. Even though it was a short visit. You keep putting up the videos and I will keep watching.

Thank you so much! I had my chevy 2500hd with the NP263XHD rub a hole in the case and self destruct. The primary failure was a needle bearing on the planetary assembly. They do make a funny squeal when one of those bearings lock up and spin the shaft while going down the freeway. I was able to order the parts and do the complete rebuild myself thanks to your video. It ended up being about half the cost of a newly rebuilt transfercase.

Don't know if I mentioned it before but I learned myself a tip to keep squeezed silicon from breaking off inside cases and then plugging the oil filter. notice the inside edges of the case halves are really sharp. Chamfer those a bit so they are not sharp. two benefits are they are less likely to cut you and the sealant fills up the "V" instead of squeezing out in a fine ribbon that can then break off easily.

Like "we" said in your previous video. If you accidentally delete or format the data isn't gone. It's just not indexed. As long as you don't record (write) over the old forgotten data you can still recover it, a process that once started takes no more than a minute. This is why for sensitive (top secret etc, like your porn folder) data needs to be deleted through very elaborate or physical processes when it comes to storage mediums. For instance, if you want to re-use the storage medium you delete the file with a program that overwrites the data with random bytes several times over. Because even if you overwrite data once there's still trace amounts of magnetic or similar fields of the old data. It is possible to restore even overwritten data but that process takes a very long time. And if one doesn't want to re-use the storage medium you shred it in a metal shredder. Depending on how sensitive the data is, shredding can be done to where you have 16th of an inch big pieces of the storage medium left. And if you are really paranoid, melting it down ensures complete deletion. Then there's degaussing which applies such a strong magnetic field that all data wipes irrecoverably which also damages the storage medium. Again, you can degauss several times if paranoid and then shred and melt and send on a rocket to the sun... All depends on the contents of your porn folder. ;) ...... But yeah, a simple format doesn't mean the data is gone. You can recover it really quickly with the right program. Many of which exist as free to use software. So please, next time you accidentally format your card. Recover it before you record on it again.

+Cadde Or for a comparison that may lie closer to heart... "OOOOPS, i filled my diesel tank with petrol... Well, off to the scrap heap the car goes!" When in reality, as long as you didn't start the engine (to varying degrees) you can still salvage your mistake. A diesel tank full of petrol can still be flushed. Right?

Good silicone for the case would be "The Right Stuff" - Black. Once applied, it needs to be assembled within 5 minutes. You can fill the case after about an hour, and it seals very well. That stuff holds on tight. It's a pain to remove, but it stays put and won't float off once applied and dried. I just did a timing chain on my 2013 Kia Soul, and the timing cover case needed to be sealed off. It did the trick.

Watching you install the seals, and you saying to be careful installing the seal so the spring does not jump out. I was taught by an old timer (which is kinda funny because I have been a wrench since the 60'S) to pack the spring side of the seal with grease. This method has worked for me for many years & have not popped the spring out installing the seal.

Before I could afford a bushing driver set I used expandable freeze plugs and they worked great. The rubber held the bushing from collapsing and the metal disc pushed the bushing in with no damage and they're still under $5 today. Learned that from a 45 yr crusty mechanic when I was a teenager and started working at a garage & now I am the 40 yr crusty mechanic so for the DIY or young mechanic starting out there is my tip I'm passing on. I'll stay watching when I'm not working on cars myself b/c the ringing & beeping is the sound of a busy SMA making $$ to pay the bills and the videos are edited so I don't get it.. +South Main Auto Repair Thanks but I pass this credit on to a 70 yr old mechanic named Irwin that showed me so many tips. He taught me if you couldn't afford the specialty tools how to think outside the box and use what you have available so I am passing it on like he did for me. He was retiring about 6 months after I started working there so he tried to teach me as much as he could and pass on all his tricks he learned along the way. He was a great mechanic but he taught me some bad tricks also like how to charge up condensers on the distributor machine and put them on your bench and parts counter waiting for some poor unsuspecting person to come up and grab it and get shocked...simple things amused us. We had an overhead oil dispenser that could pump in 5 qts in seconds and if one of the other mechanics was getting smart we'd fill up their back pocket with a couple qts. We had fun at work!

Let me tell how much money you saved me with this video. I am an industrial mechanic but have never taken a transfer case apart. After watching this video I was able to replace my NP261 pump. Later I pulled it back apart and did a complete reman. Your camera angles and tutorials while you’re wrenching are first class. Thank you! 🙏🏼

I use to buy my Bearings from the Dealer too, until I went one day to a Bearing dealer! They always matched up the Bearings because they did not have Bearings just made for vehicles, but they always gave me what I needed at much better cost big time! Just a thought.

Thanks for posting this. Bought a cheap used '00 Silverado and a year later I have discovered I likely have worn a hole in my T-case. I've been on the fence all night on whether to buy a used/reman or rebuild it. After the video. I'll rebuild it. With 200k on the truck, a refresh and inspection won't hurt anything. Though the comments on the doorman replacement housing is concerning. I'll have to hunt for some real world reviews on it. Thanks again!

More and More Anaerobic Sealant is making its way in main stream auto making. Im not sure I agree with all the hype but if the premise is solid, AKA, if it is a fact that it only hardens under the pressure surfaces. I have seen residual ( the squeezed out product) just as hard inside the engine and outside the engine, just as solid as Ultra Black Grey or other performance sealant (RTV). Anyone else have any thoughts or experiences with these sealants? Thanks for the Videos

I did the trans case in my 97 dodge 1500. I got the parts kit and chain set from our local 4x4 outlet for under 200.00.had problems though, turned out the factory put gears and chain for a 3/4 ton in the 1/2 ton case.

Just rebuilt my NP261 HD and if you work on dirt bikes a fork seal driver tool works on most of the large seals for this case and it works as a support for when you have it on the bench. Great video, you remind me of a good friend of mine who is also a mechanic.

There's a difference between Wing Wang parts made in China and Wing Wong parts made in China. I'm sure the GM parts made in China are made at the Wing Wang factory, because you don't want to use the Wong parts in a GM. LMAO
