I've had my new Lightning Rod Telescoping Single Braced Hi-Hat Stand: GLRHH-SB for about 2 months now. Love it, great for the quick set up and load outs. The action is good. On jazz trio gigs I play the hi hat low, on the rock/pop stuff raise it some to get the hats mic. This stand is plenty sturdy and does the job I need! Thanks Gibraltar from "an old man drummer"...all good things!
I'm only a 13 year old drummer but I rly love watching these videos on hardware. I've seen probably a bout all on them. I screenshot everything I could value, and plan on buying some of your products. I didn't know if this would be possible, but what if gibralter had an app like a store app. Where your customers could buy your products off of an app instead of having to go all that way onto a computer type in the web address and search of the specific product your looking for. And there could be a wish list thing too, so you won't have to remember that product names. That's just a suggestion but I just wanted to say I rly love being a drummer so I say thank you!
I also agree with his idea. We aren't a signed band therefore I'm not rich,So I also screenshot the products I want and check off my list each payday using my screen shots. It definitely would be alot easier if you guys had an app with a wish list. Hope to see one soon!
Excellent idea...having to change between long and short rods has always been a nuisance. Its extremely convenient to be able to turn a wing nut and adjust the height of the rod. Cant wait to grab one!!!
Wow! It's about dag-gum time someone made a dad-blasted hi-hat clutch that is of the same quality as the darn rest of the kit we are buying. I could kick my self for not thinking of this design myself.
I would love to see a Gibraltar remote hi hat! Also perhaps a hi hat that could be used to mount small auxiliary hats such as Terry Bozzio has near his snare.
I recently bought the Quick Release Clutch, and it’s amazing. The hi hat stand with the collapsing truss is a brilliant idea too... You should license that to other companies.
That quick release would be awesome if applied to bass drum beater attachments and double bass pedal rods and maybe even cymbal stands! For stands I'm sure you can figure out how to make the male end of the attachment adjustable (like using small hex screws the way you attach the rack tube attachment mount to the top of a vertical rack tube).
This is great stuff love it ...come up with a solution for a one piece crash/ride cymbal holder sleeve instead of the plastic flange sleeve, wing nut, felts and washers..
I couldn't agree more. There doesn't seem to be many companies making the remote hi hats anymore. I have the Pearl model, but I'm guessing Gibraltar would do a better job. Like they do with pretty much everything else.
Problem for you to solve: Drop clutch (with this functionality) that also has the possibility to adjust the tension the top hihat is pressed against the lower hat, when the cymbal is dropped, so one could get tight sound from dropped hihat. Cobra Clutch is only available on right-handed, so that's not solution for hihat on the right side of the bd pedal. Also traditional drop clutches enganges too easily if played heavily, when that open position is wanted to be down to almost semi-open.
Oh, and inspired by another commenter: remote hihat that is simpler and smoother than pearl (it doesn't have to have so much adjustments) but in a more affordable price range than trick. Also not to make your job too easy: minimum-height-top-part or maybe even free-angle-cable-entry in the top section. I would love to get a remote hat quite low but it hits the top of the bass drum and twists the cable. Probably even removable cable to ease up transporting/replacing etc...
:) I really enjoy gibraltar products. Its the little things that make the drummers' life easier! Does the telescoping hi hat come in a two leg version? I really like the concept but when it comes to having a double pedal, three legs just don't fit.
I really want to get the SC-QRHHC with the drop clutch. What is the Item identification code for that (E.I. SC-QRHHC = Quick release hi hat clutch)? Thanks!
Very cool, Question about the GLRHH-DB .. Are the legs adjustable for adding a double kick pedal, or a double braced instead of triple available... and what's the weight of the stand like? Currently I'm using the turning point hardware. Thanks for the help.
This is an awesome idea, way to innovate and bring new solutions to the market Gibraltar! Question: what is the height of the stand when fully collapsed? I couldn't find any specs listed for this model on your site. I want the smallest hardware bag possible so I'm going to buy a bag that works around this stand!!
id like to see a double pedal connecting shaft that doesnt wear out at the joints. my OLD like, early 80's old, gibraltar pedal had so much slack the left pedal would go through 1/3 the stroke before engaging the beater. my iron cobra jr's are about 5 years old and im running into the same problem. the rest of the pedals are great, but the connecting rod universal joints are just about done. any ideas?
also does the new clutch come default with the new stand? also just too put it out there, i got some swing nuts, and my god, its amazing XD i think theres something wrong with me i can look at a very shiny big kit and think its cool but a small swingy thing and im over the moon xD
Hey Brent, I have a clutch just like that, but it's just a threaded version. the bottom nut doesn't work appropriately and stops at about the 2 1/2 to 3rd turn every time. Do you know any way to make this thing work? I've had it since 2011.
Do you know how to replace the cable for the Hi Hat stand model# 9707NL- UA? Mine broke and I would like to find out how to fix it or replace the cable. Thanks in advance for any information.
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU USE THE SAME ITEA ON THE HI HAT CLUTCH FOR THE CYMBAL STACKERS I USE THEM ALOT AND TO HAVE A DRUM KEY HANDY AND LOSEN THE SCREWS AND TIGHTEN THE SAME SCREWS I THINK THIS CAN WORK ON THE CYMBAL STACKS ALSO
My main problem with my Gretsch Catalina Club set is getting my tom stand which is Gibraltar in a compact position I'm playing with an oversiEd double bass set up any suggestions?
I've have pedals come apart in the middle of a gig a few times so for the last 15 years once I had a pedal adjusted just like I wanted I would then take screws out and put a dab of "caulking" on the threads and tighten it back up. I've lost one screw in the last 15 years since. I also learned my lesson and ALWAYS have a single pedal beside my right foot attached to a cowbel rig i made incase the double pedal ever breaks I have a quick fix to get me out of a jam by moving my cowbel pedal over to the kick drum.
Can you guys make a remote hi-hat? one thats responsive, I've wanted one because I like to put the hi-hat pedal right next to my left bass drum pedal but in that position, the stand would come up and hit my snare. Also can you show a different way to mount a remote hi-hat
The number one annoying problem I had with hi-hat stands is that I've somehow managed to lose the screw by the bottom cymbal seat, so I can't change the angle of my bottom cymbal. These seem like a great investment!
I have tried lock tight, tuner locks, but at least one of my rods always seem to come out of tune on my snare and i have to retune all the time. Anyone have a solution already?
Yes! My beloved Mapex Saturn Pro kit has this one tension rod near the floor on the kick that would loosen constantly. So I put a lock nut that has the nylon bushing in it on the rod and after I tune it I then tighten the nut slightly against the lug insert. Just have to remember to loosen the nut away from insert before tuning or you may eventually strip out something. It was a permanent quick fix that is not an eye sore. Works perfect.
In 40 years of playing I have never lost the threaded bottom of a clutch! Also he gives a poor example. That DW quick release he uses stays attached to the cymbal. Why would you be adjusting it?
