We were lucky to catch this prototype Grimme Prios 440 potato planter in action in the Netherlands. It is working together with a Grimme GF 400 rotary hook tine cultivator that prepares the seedbed for the potatoes. Notice how the planter is carried on the tractors' rear three point linkage on a special sub frame. The rotovator is hooked on this frame and moves independently from the tractor.
The Prios planter will probably be launched during the Grimme Technica event held in June this year on their own farm. This is a prototype working this spring on a farm in Holland. It is most likely that it will eventually replace the current GL 430 planting combination but that is a guess. Virtually everything is new on this machine. The planting technology remains the same and is controlled via a CCI 1200 Isobus-terminal that controls all functions and uses rtk-gps for automatic shut-off per row, VRA and making maps. Telematics will also be possible and a 4G-receiver is mounted on the drawbar. The hopper, which is styled the same as the Ventor and Rexor harvesters, holds a comfortable 4 tonne of seed and there is a small gangway between the hopper and belts. The ridging hood is also new and uses a sort of plough shares rather than a conventional hood for making the beds.
In front is a Valtra T234 fitted with Soucy tracks. A VSS Agro seedbed cultivator is used to level the ploughed land prior to the main pass. Urean liquid nitrogen is carried in the front tanks and sprayed on top of the ridge after planting. Crop protection chemicals are also applied to harbour the seed from soil born diseases.

I wish they had a mod in fs22 for this setup, atleast the implements, although the Valtra on tracks would be sweet. It's very pleasing to watch for sure!

Great video. Looks like the planter is picking up 2 seed potatoes in each cup quite a lot.

It looks like Urea Ammonium Nitrate bulk tanks to me. Probably 28% or 32%. Fertilizer would be my guess. It is a little odd to see this emptied into a stainless tank. In the states we would see a nurse tank (plastic) on the front of the tractor, especially for liquids. It would make more sense to see a stainless hopper if it is a potash (potassium chloride), urea or some other dry fertilizer.
@Agrifotodotnl
@Agrifotodotnl 2 года назад
@@notmethanks816 Yes it is liquid urea fertiliser indeed. Can be held in plastic tanks but these stainless tanks can be fitted more neatly in the machine's frame.

I have always said that they need to make tractors with cabs that turn 90 degrees so you can see behind you with out having to turn you body......it would make things so much easier.
@Agrifotodotnl
@Agrifotodotnl Год назад
There is already a tractor that can turn the cab 180 degrees, the Claas Xerion.

🤨 over engineered. Now when the cultivator breaks down the planter is down to.

and when te land is not cultivated tje potatoes cant be plant same result
@MadMarky
@MadMarky 2 года назад
Field cultivation is necessary before planting potatoes, at least in this type of soil. By doing everything in one go you save time and labour costs.
@dirtdevil70
@dirtdevil70 2 года назад
@@MadMarky I think the concept is interesting but in a practical sense its probably better to have separate pieces of equipment. Here in Ontario Canada, you'd had a large tillage tractor that would be travelling at a higher ground speed,,, followed by a large planter... Im thinking two separate but larger units, doing different tasks can cover more ground than 2 units like in the video doing everything in one pass.
@voornaamachternaam2797
@voornaamachternaam2797 2 года назад
@@dirtdevil70 Well it all depends on the soil condition imo, in heavier soils like these shown in the video tillage is always done by a rotary cultivator at low speeds in the NL. It then makes more sense to combine it with planting in one pass. However on more sandy soils tillage can be done at a high speed so then it makes more sense to split into two operations.
@jonasstahl9826
@jonasstahl9826 2 года назад
@@dirtdevil70 The thing is that here in Europe our fields are usely relativ small und farming Equipment need to drive on public road to get there, means it need to be street legal. What limits the size of equipment you can use or you need complex folding mechanic.
