Wow what a rich, flowing sound, a magic combo of DAC, amp and speakers, quite possibly the best yet I’ve heard on your channel. Love the beautiful wood veneer on this version too.
Sounds great! As others have said, I really enjoy your choice of music. I played "Outro" by Ania Leon and Igor Herbut in Tidal and then was treated to a wonderful Tidal-created mix of many other modern Polish artists, all unknown to me and singing in Polish. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. That just gave me an idea to record a video with some amazing Polish music, since there are some very very amazing Polish tracks that I listen to here and they sound stunning :)
Love this, fantastic selection of artists and music. I really enjoy these types of vlogs as it introduces me to music that I otherwise would never have heard of, and your taste is right up my street. Great stuff.😁
Very highly regarded equipment for sure. Might I suggest that the speaker's fidelity might improve if they were moved out further into the room? That the rack in between the speakers is negatively affecting the depth of the soundfield? That the haphazard jumble of cables is negatively affecting the fidelity? Finally, isolation from vibrations seems absent and no obvious means of a clean AC supply... Otherwise, good luck on your journey.
For years I have noticed the difference in the sound when played via Firefox or a Chrome-based browser. Never before has the difference been so much. It sounds fuller, more bass, less treble, more realistic with Firefox. With Chrome it's too airy, spatial, a little unreal. I have double-checked it with the 4K / AAC 192kbps videos that I upload to my YT channel as: Ben Webster - King Of The Tenors (1954) Vinyl, mono, Verve 1981, Japan.
Awesome selection of tunes. ❤ , more aggressive top end than im used to in your videos , more immediate sound but a touch pushed in the high frequencies .
Hey friend. Are you actually playing the system that you have there on display, or are you just playing some HD tracks directly through youtube? Honestly, I can't tell. Sounds incredible. I've had my eye on those speakers for quite awhile now, and I find them to be extremely interesting.
I'll share everything in the upcoming videos, but to sum it up its Upgrades in the Ultra version: Internal cabling - Mundorf Angelique Copper-Silver-Gold cables ISOACOUSTICS Gaia 2 - footers included in the price 220uf Bass unit capacitor replaced from Electrolytic to Evo Oil All crossover coils are now Jantzen Copper Ribbon Wax Additional pair of terminals allowing for Bi-Amping
Thanks for sharing your comment. I am building my Power strip for 6 months now and still cant finish it ;) So I'm using a standard market 20$ one with Schuko sockets. But I also have 2000Watts EI Separation Transformer. I'll do a video on that as well ;)
Not replacing, but they are both just different beasts ;) for the money the Alive is amazing and better in some regards and worse in others. I'll put on the video about that next week ;)
sounds amazing as always. goes to show that you don't need to spend stupid amount of money (like 10s of thousands of $$$$$) to get a great sounding speakers. this set up is just simple. a solid state integrated amp . (no bi-amping like you did in your last video). i wonder what's your preference now with the IQ Ultra in regards of using only a solid state amp or bi-amping with both solid state and tube amp?. thanks for uploading. great demo. .
Is the single-ended output and balanced output of the LaiV dac identical in sound quality? I would be using the single ended, but many balanced dacs have a gimped se
the balanced gives a bit more punch and I was using it for this video, but the RCA is kot a slacker although one have to make it louder to compensate for lower signal level of the RCA
@@VirtualHiFi Talking about RCA, any chance you get the new Fezz Equinox in house in the near future ? I don't think you have a reviewed a tube DAC yet ? That could be a very interesting fight against the LAIV (and your reference) while it's still around. Edit: Nevermind, i just remembered you did Lampi Amber. 😅
Previously I was using the DAC2 in my Mcintosh c2700. Still happy with the Laiv dac. I can now understand words now in certain song lyrics that I couldn’t understand before. It’s also very analog sounding, very detailed, non-fatiguing. Less than perfect recordings still sound very good but really good recordings sound awesome with this DAC.
can you please talk about equalizer i know that equalizer is a bad word in most audiophiles ears. but if one need/must use a equalizer how would one do it best in terms of sound quality? from a app ? from a real equalizer ? (produkt link?) i want to make a u-shape respons in my setup. thanks
What is your source ? If streaming try a Viim pro. Got both EQ and room correction this days. Ultra version is supposedly very good as long as you don't use apple music
Zdecydowanie.
Mmmhhh, why sampling into DSD with HQ Player? The LAIV Harmony has only PCM capability. Thus the DAC has to convert the DSD source into PCM before processing 🤔 Or am I wrong and the LAIV is DSD capable? Greets to Poland 🔥🐹🔥
You're correct, the LAiV Harmony internally converts DSD to PCM since its R2R DAC handles PCM only. I was also going to question any benefit of upsampling DSD with this DAC.
Hi guys I did some tests and for some reason the DSD 512 feed to LAiV instead of 705.6 PCM Sounds better to me. Not sure why, but the DSD even though resampled to PCS by LAiV tend to keep the DSD character and is more organic than the PCM. I know it's kind of wierd but as they say if it's stupid but it works it ain't stupid 😜
@@VirtualHiFiinteresting maybe the laiv is doing some DoP which would work great? But better than directly pcm it’s still strange. Maybe also the up sampling method your using for dsd sounds better to you than the one you use for pcm. Really don’t know 🤔
