New Realistic ATC for MSFS - FSHud Review & Full Flight | MSFS 2020 

Not to mention no Demo and a hefty pricetag. Since I fly mostly to addon airports this is a hard pass for me as well.

In MSFS - at times it appears AI aircraft are "jumping", or not smoothly moving forward? A. This is due to an MSFS SDK bug that doesn't allow aircraft to follow the path presented for it - therefore, the application updates the AI Aircraft position according to estimations every second. This behavior would be fixed once the MSFS SDK bug is fixed.

what an epic disappointment. atc remains one of the worst elements of the sim. nothing changing soon.

Interesting ! I used RC back in the day with FSX. It was only IFR, but worked brilliantly following your loaded flight plan, but as soon as you requested VFR, you got rejected like a drag queen attending a formal dinner in red square !

For now, P2ATC is more deep but interface is horrible and not working / interact with AI Trafics.

@@Seb851s I use P2ATC a lot, but it also infuriates me and that UI - dire. Surely someone can come up with something better. It’s one of outstanding unclimbed summits of simming.

No, do not run AIG TC. FSHUD control the traffic using the AIG routes, aircraft and liveries. Running AIG TC simultaneously will mess things up.

1. The ATC will provide you with runway and SID and STARs etc if you haven't selected them. 2. The taxi ribbon won't work as this is linked to detail ATC so see the video to show you how this is done in Fshud.

It can recognise add on airports just not those purchased through the marketplace

@@jdshemp yeah I tend to avoid the marketplace, MS take a cut from the devs and scenery takes longer to get updated and encryption makes It more difficult to modify. But it is very convenient for users. I will wait before buying to see if they can fix this!

They are two completely seperate programmes that do different thuifs. So no conflicts. 👍

@@Easyjetsimpilot Sounds good, but in this video you requested pushback through FSHud, so should you then do that through the GSX menu if you want the full GSX pushback experience and interaction, or will that still happen even though you start it through FSHud ?

I've not had this issue before. Perhaps try raising your null zone settings a little.

The best offline ATC is ProATCX. I used it a lot in prepar3D. They are working in a version for MSFS, but unfortunately we don't have any news of it since 2021. I'm waiting so hyped for this ATC.

Correct. However some airline SOPs are to set the pressure to STD when ATC tells them to climb to FL and to local QNH when descending to an altitude, regardless of your current FL/ALT.

@@Easyjetsimpilot Good to know. Great video btw. I currently use Pilot2ATC but might give FSHUD a go since I like how the taxi directions are shown directly in the panel.

It can use the AIG models but without the AIG Controller. Bottom-line, it doesn't really add anything extra that the default ATC doesn't have and actually takes away a few features like marshaling, weather awareness, and jetways. Getting a flight plan into the program can be quite tedious. If you miss a waypoint or a turnoff after landing, it stops talking to you. I asked for a refund and hope that it will improve over time.

@@ricka47 I agree, don't see anything game changing here. Jetways is on area I wish could be disconnected. The animation of them connecting to all the AI planes, kills performance, especially on a low end system like mine. If it doesn't engage Jetways on AI traffic, that could be reason enough for me to switch to it.

Well, one thing it does bring is actual control of the AI aircraft. Everybody that has used AIG has seen the disaster that is the default MSFS AI behavior with aircraft taxiing in a circle when holding on the taxiway, eternal go-arounds and all aircraft spawning at the same altitude as the player, and never changing altitude. This is all gone with FSHUD as it actually controls the AI using proper procedures. This is a big plus’s for me. If they can get the update rate down below 1 sec, support for VR and ability to read the WX (hopefully coming with SU10) then it will have the potential to be the best ATC addon by far.

@@SleepySleepy500 Don't know if you can blame the Holding AI circling problem on Asobo. I don't believe FS default traffic exhibited this behavior, and most of the AIG models are converted FSX/P3D AI models, so that maybe the actual cause of it.

@@tf51d it is definitely an Asobo problem... completely stock/default traffic in MSFS does the same thing.

They are assigned based on your flight plan. If you dont have them in your flight plan, it will assign you one based on your departure routing.

@@Easyjetsimpilot do they update or change according to the ai traffic ? Lets say rwy in use for landing is 24L and you planned 24R, will the atc give you a landing on 24L ?

Live WX was on and so we're AIG models - NOT the traffic injector.

You can use it with addon airports, just now encrypted addon airports (from MSFS marketplace for example.) You can use it with AIG. Get all the routes, planes, liveries and callsigns from AIG, and it works perfectly for me. Can’t read the MSFS wx yet, but that is hopefully fixed after SU10 if Asobo allows reading the WX from the sim.

Agree P2ATC beats this easily. But it badly needs a refresh and update….

Finally, someone else who has noticed this. Flight Unlimited even vectored you away from traffic conflicts. I never once had a go around. It completely crippled my PC at the time, trying to play it on an SiS internal VGA chip. I still fly in that area on MSFS such as half moon bay, Senoma Skypark etc, good times. Seems ATC has always been an after thought in FS.

Exactly! I enjoyed just sitting down for a flight and having ATC totally vector me to my destination. It was easy and fun!

I had tried PF3 before and had trouble with it, but after reading this, I tried again and I think it will serve my needs better after all. :)

@@bwc1976 I agree that it has some quirks but it's also very flexible and in the newer versions it has a verification for common issues with flight plans that already helps avoid some problems. I like its basic vfr support too. It definitely has improved over time.

honestly, i dont see any advantage pf3 has over pilot2atc.

@@homasas4837 i think that is very much personal preference. Besides navigraph support I don't see much that pilot2atc would provide over pf3. Also no need for expensive tts voices for variety in voices with pf3.

@@voju random star/sid assignments, atc which still follows you despite missing a waypoint, possibility to change procedure during the flight, voice control..the 2 flaws of pilot2atc are his outdated interface, but pf3 isn't better and most important the lack of interaction with ai traffic. But pf3 doesn't do it as well..

Agrred completely market is deficient with a serious ATc! And that theirs (MS), custom one was tragical...i've had many times with it turned one where bug is w/ sudden, out of blue sky tug coming uncalled and started to push me back (while I was in the midst of preps not even ready to go..) lol. Cannot see this being a serious alternative, esp. if one cannot do legit way pointing.

yeah i use sometimes pilot2atc too, if im too lazy to go to vatsim. I bought some new voices for it so its sound quite nice and realistic. The big problem though is the lack of interaction with ai planes. You got atc, but you still feel alone since ai traffic isnt controlled. I ended up multiple times landing in front of an ai plane. And countless times as well i had a go around request at 100 ft from the ground..

@@homasas4837 it’s a good point there’s no sense of being part of something bigger. Would it be so hard to add voice recognition to this product to make it something MUCH more interesting? As I say I think the reward could be considerable for whomever gets this right.

Well, one thing P2A does not have is actually control of the AI aircraft. Beat it can do is give you traffic warnings. Also no control of AI makes the world seem empty when using P2A as P2A does not talk to the AI either.

But... gabbled ATC is incredibly annoying. You want faster voices to make things sound more realistic? Not for me, thanks. I hate the assumption that you have to run one word into another and mumble your comms as fast as possible in a sort of sing-song hospital radio DJ voice in order to sound 'cool'. It should be all about clarity, not sounding like a grumpy teenager who's worried about being bullied by his hard mates if he enunciates words properly. ATC's sole function is to convey safety-critical information to people and pilots who may not have English as a first language. That's all. It shouldn't matter where in the world you are or where you're from. If it's not perfectly clear at all times, it's totally unacceptable. Oh, yes. TOTALLY. I'm not a jet pilot, but I got my real-world PPL years ago in a Cessna 172 when my late dad was with the Flying Doctor Service in East Africe (Kenya). I have a voice that sounds a bit like Joanna Lumley's; it's meant I've been picked on ever since I left school for sounding 'posh', but I've never had any problems being understood on the typical crappy, crackly radio either back here in England or when I was flying out in Kenya. Frankly, I think we'd all be better off if people spoke more clearly. I find the indistinct, rushed, vague ATC announcements of most RU-vid flight sim experts to be far more irksome than the 'robotic' delivery you dislike. Yay for robots! 🤖

@@EleanorPeterson Yes I agree with you on what you say, but for me the app would be on the money - if the voices sounded for example, as close as possible, as the real life atc on steveo1kinevo youtube channel tbm flights its not gabbled, or unclear, its sharp and crisp and about the ideal tempo - I flight sim for fun only, if they work on this and can produce something similar I would consider buying.

No ENCRYPTED 3rd party airports. Airports that are not encrypted work fine.
