Hi all, down here!
So I really wanted to bring some resin craft content back onto my channel asap, and I thought I'd revive this experiment that I filmed last year and have ONLY just finished lol.
In the video I say I haven't seen anyone try this before. Obviously I haven't seen every single video on youtube, so if you or someone you've seen has done something similar please let me know in a comment. I'd love to see.
✨✨
Trivia: My internet has been so bad over the past week, my upload speeds were 6kbph when I was uploading this video, it took HOURS lol. I didn't realize until I came back from dinner over an hour later and it had only reached 20%. The entire video took 3 hours to upload. Anyone else with the network Three (3)? They haven't been the best, I'm sorry to say.

Oops, I was suppose to schedule this for Sunday 12 noon, not Sunday 12 midnight haha. Oh well, I'll leave it up.

This type of color insertion using pipettes or syringes (my preference) is common in dice making although I don't know if there are many videos showing it. More often I see it being discussed in various forums and places like the dice making subreddit. You are correct in thinking that letting the clear resin set up a bit more can help with getting more distinct lines and swirls. Using a more transparent colorant can produce subtle smoky or wispy effects while more opaque colors can create lots of interesting designs, especially if you use more than one color. You can do swirls, lines, dots, or in stuff like coasters even draw out designs. I've even seen people use this type of technique to get cloud type effects although timing is key to making that actually work.

Aaaah that’s interesting, I never considered dice making. Thank you for the tips : )

Not a big fat failure it's a big fat win it looks like gold smoke I love it😊 this is how we learn I like watching people mix resin I also like to watch them clean up because I am such a newbie❤❤

I will remember to try and leave in my cleaning routine then! I tend to trim it out if it gets too long and boring, but I'll see for future videos : ) Thank you!

The gold mica gives it kind of a smokey feel to it, and with the vortex effect it reminds me of the smokey vortexes that appear just before the flame shows up in a fire, or just as the flame goes out 😊

It looks cool - resembles a Smokey wisp in video games. Call it a golden wisp! 👍🌸. I got all of my craft supplies from TEMU so cheap. They sell the same items as other sites who have big prices. Molds and so much! I am not associated with TEMU except a fan spending too much! I love your technique

The golden wisp, I like that : ) Thank you!

Yeah! I think this could have some really brilliant effects. They sell pippettes in different sizes like from tiny ones upwards. I’d like to wait like you said and then direct bright neon colors into the corners. Clear everything is in right now and bright colors too. I might try it. Thanks ❤️🇦🇺

I didn’t know there were tiny pipettes, that sounds perfect for this technique. I hope you get to try it out ✨

I love this! It’s such a cool idea. I definitely want to try your pipette swirl technique! I would try letting the resin sit for a while. Maybe let it get to 35 degrees? I’ll let you know how it goes when I try it! 😊

It definitely has potential for sure, I think the resin just needs to be a lot thicker.

I like it how it is. I get a similar effect using a petri-type application of alcohol inks plus c deeper white after about 45 min and plunge/swirl it down into the mold. I'm going to try a hybrid of your method and mine this weekend. I've never considered micas so I'm intrigued. My "smoky", (like another viewer put it), votive holders are a bestseller in my Etsy shop. You're onto something here, I suspect. The mica powder-colored resin will sink more...CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

I find for those sites, as long as you watch the reviews carefully & check to make sure the shops are legit, you're good 😊

Cool technique. Maybe you should go down the Daniel Cooper method and add clear glue to make it thicker?❤

Still turned out pretty. :) but I wonder if doing the pipette spiral with uv resin the curing with a light to make it solid, would make it turn out the way you intended. I haven't tried something like that yet, but I think I need to. :) currently I do abstract swirls and pigment clouds with dry pigment and a toothpick in uv. I don't think it would give me the same results in epoxy without letting the resin solidify a bit. You've certainly given me ideas. :)

I think less gold would have been good. This is a happy accident though. I like it!

It's the same one : ) I only did one of these experiments. The lighting catches the gold differently though so it does look a little different at the end there.

Nobody is more critical of their work than the artist themselves...I don't think it's looks like a disaster at all....keep practicing the technique

Hi just saw your channel. I started watching and I began to think hmmm I wonder if she is going to do what I do..... and you did! Don't class it as a fail it still looks good, keep trying because I have had some awesome results. Thicker resin does help I usually leave mine close to nearly an hour or so, so it's a bit like toffee then mix up some more resin and as that. I don't swirl mine though I do dots and leave them to do their thing! I keep thinking of making a RU-vid channel! Maybe I should bite the bullet!! Really glad to have found your channel!!😊

@looseskullsscrafts 6 месяцев назад
Oooh I bet those dots end up looking very interesting with this technique! I will try waiting longer next time : ) And I will for sure encourage you to create a youtube channel if you've been thinking about it, the crafting community is by far one of the most welcoming and friendly communities I've seen on RU-vid, I'm SO glad I created mine. Thank you!
