Excellent rods got 2 vipers , use at borth, warden Bay etc , great rods 5oz max better less weight, lighter lines on reels, love Wales golden greys mullet, turbot, small eyes ray and many more, maddie's great , mackerel fresh or frozen for turbot, best had 5lb small bit mackerel, good luck.
Am currently blanking on Bossington, blanked yesterday at Porlock, not even a scrawny dogfish, at least you caught and didn't drive the 350 miles return trip I am making.
That weekend i was in wales first night had one blonde 7lbs a small strap lost a few in the snags. Lost something really big in the edge of the pier (i know everyone says it) 2nd and 3rd day just blanked 18hrs saturday 10 hrs sunday then went to the pub 😅

I have a viper and usually cast 6oz no problem with fixed spool loaded with braid the rod is great for night fishing the hole thing lights up on the head lamp if you were fishing a multiplier doing stupid casts I could see it breakbut this style rod is more finesse and I think you going to enjoy it im in North wales where you fishing and do you know the marks if you need info I'm happy to help
