I've ALWAYS disliked how the Kelvin timeline ships were A LOT bigger than the prime timeline. I think the Vengeance had maybe 18 decks total? Judging the airlock that Khan and Kirk got in from was on deck 13. I have always thought that if the Vengeance existed in the prime timeline it would be a little bigger than the Enterprise-E. There were parts of Star Trek Into Darkness that I liked. I did NOT like that it was essentially a re-write of The Wrath Of Khan. The phaser sfx for the JJ Enterprise should be a different sound. If you watch I think either the original 2009 film or Star Trek Beyond you'll be able to hear what they sound like The Enterprise was no match for the Vengeance in the film. I mean it almost obliterated the Enterprise. If Spock had not come up with the idea of using Khan's advanced torpedoes against Khan and disable the Vengeance. One would think Section 31 would have equipped the Vengeance with armor plating and pretty advanced shielding. Primary and secondary shielding like what the Scimitar had. Khan: Well Kirk, it seems apt to return you to your crew. After all......no ship should go down with out her Captain! You annihilated the JJ Enterprises with out a sweat. Unlike most federation ships in the Kelvin timeline the Vengeance was built primarily for combat. You should try the Vengeance against the Galaxy Class X from Hell. I wonder how it would stand up against that.
The Vengeance was supposed to be 1500 meters. About the size of SW ISD....The VFX for the Kelvin timeline Pulse Phasers and Vengeance heavy X ARC ( Directed Curving Phaser bolts) weren't accurate...Unlike STO, I believe they were the best....
Congratulations to the USS Vengeance and its captain, actor Troy McClure. You may remember him from such Star Trek parodies as Deep Space Square Root of 9 and the Voyager Home.
Yeah! i put a lot of effort into these mods! i tried to make them as accurate to the movie as possible. This took weeks of balancing and changes to the code. Originally it could take on a sovereign and win, but i didnt think that was accurate. I did balance it off of WCs Enterprise D so that it struggles against a galaxy class, but you can win if youre lucky. yeah, she is a real beast of a ship. I did decide however that because of the pure size and the warpcore the thing must have, the weapons and shields are very strong (for a TMP ship at least) and she does have armor! quite a bit of it, but it is still possible to take it down. I am very proud of these mods and theyre some of my favorite ive released so far
I was confused by the ship at first then remembered that most of that tech on the ship is from nemesis era ships and data...so acourse the ship is overpowered as well
The kelvin timeline ships were built after events of first contact, lore wise the enterprise e borg modifieds signal made it long enough to bring a cube into sector 001 which we actually see in Picard later on. All the ships become larger because the hardware cant handle the powersource any other way.
The Narada came from the future and was refitted from a simple mining ship into the apex of 25th century Romulan technology with a bit of Borg tech inside it. While the ship itself was sucked into a blackhole and lost, it was scanned by Starfleet by the USS Kelvin and all its technology was probably a treasure trove for research institutes (and S31 black sites). While Starfleet would have qualms about using future mystery technology, Section 31 would see it as protecting Star Fleet from its own weakness. The USS Vengeance was meant to prevent Starfleet from being taken by surprise by another powerful mystery from the frontier ever again.
Not sure what you are talking about. It was sat in a Romulan black-site dry dock after the fall of Romulus and refitted with captured/experimental borg tech in the comics. "Cannon" is fragile in lore now-a-days, retcons constantly happening.
That big gap in the hull always bothered me. No gaps in hulls. Put ablative hull armor, quantum torpedoes and actual phasers on the Vengeance and get it done.
Hey there Retro. I grabbed this mod earlier today. And since I still haven't quite got the screen recording knack, let's see how The Vengeance fairs against The Liberator.
those weapon SFX are gods aweful! that said the ship itself looks really cool and i see it as a Federation Scimitar, built in secret with illegal weapons and technology. please put this up against the scimitar. i want to see how many USS vengeances it takes to down a Scimitar.
It needs those drones that shoot small torpedoes and go Kamikaze like in the movie^^and it should be able to deploy those special torpedo launchers like we saw in the film. I also read somewhere that the ship has a low-type of cloaking device.
Thank you Retro, I can now sleep better at night believing Section 31 took and used technology from the future. Otherwise, I can’t see any reason why this ship would be so powerful by comparison to ships of its own time.
I’ve always found the galaxy class ships to be very elegant very modern design quite beautiful really unfortunately they are not a worship exploration ship and they’re frail very very frail unfortunate to say..😅
Retro I am having a problem with Bridge Commander. Every time I try to launch it says desired full screen display mode not supported. I have gone through forums, and nothing works. I cannot get into the game to fix the problem either. Can you help me???
I remember someone saying a few years back they did get it running on a Mac. I’m not sure if it can run as as good as pc. Wish it did run natively though as I’d switch to a Mac tomorrow 😀
USS Vengeance is a Badd Ass Ship ! Buut the way they destroyed in the movie makes it seem not so tough? Of course ST Films always destroy or damage New or just good looking ships in first debut 😅
It took 72 torpedoes detonating inside it to disable it, and even then it's hull was still largely intact. I don't think many ships can survive that apart from borg cubes.
As for why I hate it... section 31 as originally devised and intended in DS9, is a clandestine intelligence and wetworks organisation, it wasn't until JJ that it was made into this idiotic plot device that everyone in Starfleet knows about that has its own bloody fleet. It was supposed to be so embedded as to be undetectable and unknown of to both Starfleet intelligence and the president him/her/themselves, not having massive logistical operations maintaining its separate fleet making it absolutely impossible to hide while also having tech 100 years ahead of their time despite not having the resources of the entire fed at their disposal. I mean jesus don't you think someone at Starfleet would notice several moons worth of resources just disappearing into a black hole to build this honking mess above? o.o And yes, I know, I am a ranty nerd who overthinks things but Christ I miss the days when trek made sense and had a logistical grounding and linear progression of ship size and tech over its centuries and I miss the days when Romulans were not just bald bikers with melted ears and no one had ever heard of a bloody Romulan warrior nun?!?! I grew up a catholic! Ive seen enough nuns to last a damned lifetime! WHY WOULD I WANT NUNS IN SPACE!! 😱 may the fleas of a thousand camels infest Kurtzman and Abrams crotch.
