Thank you! Very helpful. I’ve had girlfriends who have tried to convince me to shoot with them for years. Something kept nagging at me recently before all this COVID-19 stuff hit to take a class, so I did, and I’m glad I did now! Just purchased my first gun, have yet to be able to shoot it, but I’m excited. Can’t wait for things to get back to “normal” so I can take some additional classes and get some practice in at the range.
That is awesome and congrats to you for joining the ranks! What firearm did you buy for your first? Yes training and practice is key. I am glad you already planned that!
I’m so thankful for this video the only one I found the most accurate to my search, I have my conceal carry license and i ordered me a crossbreed reckoning holster and I can’t wait to get it for my Glock 26
Great video MP. Good info for the new gun owners. I agree with everything you said. It’s very important to get the right ammo, magazines and holsters. Thanks for sharing.
I stock up on fmj. If it’s good enough for the military it’s good enough for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still like to keep a fair amount of hollow points, but for stockpiling it’s fmj. In a real SHTF scenario I don’t think I’ll be worried about over penetration.
Two 9mm. 1 10 mm. 1 ar15 5.56 nato with 500 rounds fully loaded. I have a 300 blackout pistol or Shorty. And A 308 AR10, I’ve got 5 fully loaded 25 rounder magazine. I run Fmj and hollow point. We have mace spray and a baton if we can’t make it to our firearms but we will it’s always nearby. Cool video I like everything in there. Family knows where the tactical knifes are. We are ready for SHTF.
Great video. I’ve been a gun owner for over 30 years. I own many many handguns. I’ve had to recently face the reality that the time for gun shopping is long past. I’ll have to do with what I have which is going to be a Sig P226 .40. It’s what I have the most mags and ammo for right now. Sadly I’ve realized that what I lack is the basic gear. I don’t have more than a single competition holster for my P226. I don’t have a decent belt anymore, don’t have decent mag carriers for the more likely scenarios currently facing us. “Stop being a collector” are words I should have listened to a long time ago. I have a good Safariland ALS holster on order. Still looking for a belt. Still trying to figure out the Safariland QLS system(website not the best). I’ve also got a Slingster ordered for my AR, now need to get armor and plate carriers. Living in CA and times being what they are options have been very limited and I’m late. Learn from me. Stop shopping for new guns and gear up for what you HAVE.
For glasses, you can also get Motorcycle glasses. They are definitely designed for getting hit with pebbles and bugs and whatnot and will be great protection.
To new handgun owners looking at self defense ammo.. don’t get too caught up in what brand to get. In general any sort of modern hollow point is going to get the job done. If it functions in your gun. Do some research depending on what you want out of your self defense ammo such as penetration/expansion/ barrier penetration.. just please stay away from the RIP rounds.
Love my P320 X-Compact....ammo is becoming expensive. Glad I had a good stock pile. I did bite the bullet and ordered 500 rounds of 9mm at the higher cost so I can still train. Don’t want to dig into my stock pile to much.
Yea the cost is definitely rising! I found some boxes of 9mm for $12.49 yesterday. But, they used to be $10.99... Also , how do you like the X model? Think it is worth the upgrade?
Magic Prepper I really like it. I got a great deal that why I went with the X-series. $794 brand new for the model with the Romeo 1 and the suppressor height night sights. I still had plenty of mags from a previous 320 I had so it was a no brainer. It’s a very accurate, great shooting 9mm in a small package
@@RepentorPerish77 Wow with a romeo and everything? That is a killer deal! You definitely came up on that one. I picked up my 320C FDE for $499 which I thought was a good deal too haha
@@MagicPrepper imagine a 30% increase on price. I just spent $200 for 80 rounds of 458 SOCOM 😭😭 . That used to get me 120 rounds at the LGS. They're the only ones in town that stock it too 😑
MP .. you do realize most of the folks watching this are "experienced" shooters .. whatever that means to each of us .. and that they/we are going to bitch that you did not touch on our favorite thing etc etc .. **grin** .. I teach new folks .. good basic video for new shooters .. good job .. saying that .. I am going to hit on one of the things I try to push in my classes .. try to find practice ammo that shoots the same POA/POI as your carry ammo .. same grain possibly even same company .. love the emphasis on storage but I think I would have put it in another order .. ammo .. ppe (ears/eyes) .. cleaning eq .. home storage .. then branch out to carry options .. holsters .. spare mags .. mag pouches .. bottom line .. good video .. hope it finds the right audience and you do not get shot at too much .. thank you for what you do .. Scott
So you advise people to get factory mags, but then say to initially clean your new firearm to get rid of the "grease and gunk" from the factory? You do realize that's there for a reason right? For example, Glock slides from the factory come with a couple spots of, if I remember correctly, a copper based antiseize/lube.
That is awesome! What kind of 1911 and AR10 if you don't mind me asking? My first 1911 was a Springfield Armory Loaded Stainless and my AR10 is a Diamondback DB10
Not fond of hyper ammo... so expensive, so precious... you shoot with what you know. Good old FMJ are ok... Or at least load them yourself, so you get same velocity as your practice cartrige...
THE ONLY HOLSTER FOR A NEW GUN OWNER IS ONE MOLDED TO THE GUN AND HAS A LEVEL 2 AND UP RETENTION LOCKING SYSTEM, NEW OWNER SHOULD NOT BY THE HOLSTER LISTED AS ANYONE CAN COME FROM BEHIND AND TAKE YOUR GUN... PEOPLE BUY A LEVEL 2 OR 3 RETENTION HOLSTER... I HAVE A LEVEL 3 HOLSTER FROM BLACKHAWK FOR MY 1911 AND YOU HAVE BETTER CHANCE OF DRAGGING ME AROUND THE STREET TRYING TO TAKE MY GUN THEN YOU WILL UN HOLSTERING MY WEAPON.
You mean concealed IWB are not to be offer to newbies OWB Concealed level 2 low profile holster a better choice (imo) OWB level 2 safer than IWB with no retention. Level 1= I come up lift your shirt take your gun. Level 2= i come up lift your shirt now i have a struggle to pull your firearm but i understand your point in video just saying people dont care i work armed officer and i had times where i had to deal with situations like the one im concerning about.... A new gun owner is just a person offering a free firearm to a thug... At least fight for it.
@@montroelectric9840 Are you guys required to use level 2 retention or better by your department? I was curious to that as it also effects your reaction time I would think. I agree that it's good for newbies to have more safety. I just offered the idea that you can get a 2 in 1 package sometimes instead of needing 2 holsters. That's why the cytac I showed has the rentention device. What do you personally use?
@@MagicPrepper Safari Land GLS 578 is a good holster that accepts multiple firearms with a grip lock. It retains my Sig P226 MK25, Sig M17, HK USP 45 full size AND my HK VP9 after I did my initial adjustment to the grip lock retention screw(much like that mag pouch retention screw). Safari Land says the holster will retain hundreds of different pistols. It'll do it better and safer than the universal one you showed in your video. Check it out. As for different levels of retention fo carrying, I'd say that would depend on whether or not the firearm is being carried OWB or IWB. Just my two cents.
@@g3rman2121 There are some better universal holsters out there that is true. I haven't had any experience with the Safariland but most of their products are solid. And yes retention levels vary based on carry functionality. I think some folks get caught up on the idea of being disarmed but, I would assume that's a rarity?
Those new handgun owners who were against guns and now they want guns they should sell their guns cuz those are the ones you going to have to worry about who don't know how to use
Well there are a lot of new handgun owners out there and yes, a lot of them were probably anti-gun at one point in time. But, if this event is changing their minds then it is still probably for the better. Especially in states like CA and NY
Why do you think that? Most won't take them out of there house and I would bet they will be more careful than you think . They don't want to shoot there kids or spouse or parents. I'm not worried about them at all
