So excited about your new space! I especially like the attention you gave to air quality. I want to carve for years to come and truly believe such protection will allow it to happen. Thanks for sharing!

I new I liked you for a reason. I grew up on a dairy farm, we had 200 jersey cows. Some days I miss having the family dairy, but then I remember that I don't have to wake up at 3 am

Haha ah yes, it takes a different breed to do that 365 days a year for your entire life!

Just started watching your videos and subscribed,you do good work.I’m going to give it a try,I’ve been doing European mounts and antler mounts. I also used to live on a farm and work on a dairy farm. You should build a down draft table to help collect the dust,I’m going to build one for my wood shop.

Hey Russ! Thanks for subbing! I do actually have a downdraft table but it's not going to work with my current setup.

Nice workshop! I'm in the middle of a move myself and have to set up a new studio. Can you share a little more info on your room air filter?
@usskullhunter
@usskullhunter 4 года назад
Nice! Absolutely. It is a WEN Air Filtration System and you simply hang it from the ceiling and plug in! It is intended to clean fine particles that stay suspended in the air and not necessarily as like a dust collection if that makes sense. I keep it running while and after working just as like an extra measure to keep the air clean. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LPD9BDI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just getting to know you a bit....this is the 2nd or 3rd time with you. Your dairy video views reminded me of my long ago farming time. (And how I certainly don't miss it...'cept for the good air and strong body...) Anyway. You do good videos. Have liked what I have seen. On to this one. There were some views of you sanding on a square of bone. 1. What kind of animal does this come from? 2. What kind of bone offers up this size piece of bone to play with. 3. What does antique bone look like? I recall old bones on the farm without sun-light on them being kinda yellowed, white with sun-light on them and lots of little holes. 4. If you were to antique some pieces of bones, like your square, what would you do to make it look old? Colored paint washes? A certain chemical? Ok, enough brain picking for now. Thanks and keep up the good work.
@usskullhunter
@usskullhunter 4 года назад
Hey Mitsuko! Thanks for watching, I appreciate it :) and yes I agree about the fresh air and younger body haha. So The bone I was sanding was from the side of a horse jaw. You can get much much larger pieces than that actually. The patina on older bones can very widely depending on the environment they are in. But for a more classic antique look either soaking the skull in coffee or a walnut husk solution really works well. Have you seen any of the skulls I have stained using walnuts?

I may have missed this topic, if so, please forgive me. I was wondering if you have a video that covers just the Dremel? What kind and why? I’m looking at the Fortiflex. Also, even though air tools are more expensive what do you recommend on that end of the spectrum? I think a video just covering bits and machines would be AWESOME! Thanks again for your great videos and all the help!
@usskullhunter
@usskullhunter 3 года назад
Hey Darin! Sorry I missed your comment! So I don't have a video yet covering the different Dremel models but I do cover that in my book. As far as air powered I like the TurboCarver. I will add this topic to my video-to-do list :)
