Solar Pump on Amazon: geni.us/jdKjbr Original Ebb and Flow video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1dxDuPUsxfs.html Wildlife pond filter (solar powered): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rY287fn6p3o.html This package of solar panel, battery and pump seems to be a really great option for off-grid solar powered hydroponics systems. It's certainly way better and more reliable than the small panel and pump I was previously using as it will run from first light to an hour or so after sunset, even on dull or rainy days. I will upload update videos to the Thousand Yard Stare channel to keep you guys updated but I'm expecting great things from these systems this year. Thanks for watching - subscribe for more.
Great little solar panels, I replaced my small one likes yours with this, I love it. Accidentally pruned through the wire this year so had to patch it up 😆
What’s the lift height of this pump . Would it be ok for a hydroponic tower up to 1.5m . I’m currently looking for a pump and would also consider your water/air pump if the lift height was correct . Another great video , thanks for sharing
This will only lift to around 1.2m with a trickle at near 1m so it wouldn't be strong enough for a 1.5m tower - you really want to look for something which will lift to anywhere between 1.8m - 2.1m A vertical tower doesn't need much water so as long as there is a decent trickle coming down the inside of the tower it's all good.
Richard is there any way of using this for home made filter in wildlife pond but also a fountain at same time to help aerate wee pond for wildlife, i may even use for mini hydroponics one day but have no fish to put in pond as weather here is pretty bad most of time? £36.99 is that the one ?
It's probably too small for dual flows as the pump is only rated at 500 lph . The one I have that is linked in video description is currently under £30 but there will be numerous versions of the same pump from different (Chinese) manufacturers.
The media or the pots? The pots can be found by searching for 'Air Pots' online - the ones used in this system are 1 litre but they're available in all sizes. The media was something Alfa Aggregates apparently wanted rid of but it cost me around £20 each for a couple of 15kg bags. No way they'll ever sell if the trade price is £16+ VAT. However, it works really well and will hold a nation of bacteria compared to the standard clay balls. There's another size which is up to 10mm and that one is great for normal hydro systems and takes the place of clay balls in small pots. Same price unfortunately so it will never take off. The crop I had from the ebb and flow system last year was huge so the media definitely works well - if they sold it at a sensible price it could be very popular given the very variable quality of clay balls now.
Do you have them encased in any foam? I've found the other solar pumps I have do randomly stop but only when they're unprotected. The impellers are so small that it takes next to nothing to stop them and most aren't removable for cleaning.
@@keepingitkoi That's a strange one as the panels should last pretty much for ever. I'll make sure that the connection between pump and panel is under the panel in case that isn't 100% weatherproof. Any junction is a source of weakness.
