Correction: We mention Sony's safety function at 3:10 and a more accurate explanation of it would be: "Safety function enables simultaneously recording of two audio tracks - one at normal volume and another 20dB lower- reducing the risk of sound distortion during high-volume recording"
Would love to see a shootout between the two. Now only if B&H would receive some stock of either. Been endlessly waiting on the Rode Wireless Pro to be in stock 😭
The RODE Wireless PRO wins on so many levels: Range, internal recording, 32-bit float, 2 free Lavalier mics, headphone monitoring....while being cheaper!
Great to see new product releases. It would have been good to see something unique that Sony could offer with their products than the others in terms of their wireless micr products. For now, I will likely see with what I have. If I do ever want to upgrade the micr, I would have to splurge on at least $1000 for the super-high ends to justify my use-case scenarios. Other than that, great but not for me.
still gonna stick to Rode wireless Pro package that include free Lav mic (screw on to secure), and 32bit audio recording. But the wireless podcast mic, kinda interesting.
I just bought mine and was wondering if you had the same problems as I did. 1. When I have the transmitter on the 'on' position and place it into the charging case, it will turn the transmitter off to charge. When I remove it from the charging case, it does not turn back on automatically. I have to flip the power 'off' then 'on' again for it to turn on. 2. When I have the receiver on the 'on' position and it is connected to a MI-compatible Sony camera (my camera is the ZVE1), when I turn off the camera the receiver stays on for a short amount of time then turn off. When I turn on my camera again, the unit does not turn on (even with the power switch set to the 'on' position). I have to flip the power 'off' then 'on' again for it to run on. My setting on the receiver is that I have it set to 'digital'
If I want to use a really good lavalier for the ECM-W3, which one would you use? mainly for interviews but also for maybe put it on someone outdoors following them in a sort of documentary style
I see it, but they don’t even mention it and label the input as Link? Either marketing dropped the ball or engineering - not sure which is true. Would love confirmation.
They sure do! They automatically pairs via Bluetooth 5.3 using the included receiver, and the receiver can be installed on the Multi-terminal shoe on your Sony camera to sync with your video. Bluetooth 5.3 provides fast, low-energy transmission to preserve quality using the LC3plus codec, and it allows line-of-sight connections up to 500' away. Alternatively, you can connect the receiver to a computer using its USB-C output, or plug the microphone directly into your computer using the USB-C connector for fully wired streaming and conferencing. Other connection options include a 3.5mm stereo mini jack on the receiver for monitoring or recording, and the microphone features a 3.5mm headphone output jack for monitoring (when using a USB connection). >Mark
