It has been a long process, building it by direct labour.

@@80sman80 You'll get there my friend. I'm in the process of moving from Kent (UK) up to Suffolk. I packed most of my studio away ready, but my buyer couldn't get his mortgage, so it fell through . . .for now. Luckily I kept a DAW back to use while I wait to move! Lol

HI, first of all best of luck with your studio room, I found you through looking at clips on the Alesis Sr18 drum machine, and by the way I will be looking at all your video tutorials, very very well explained, I did leave a comment on part 1, anyway to continue, I landed here and see your building a studio room, I too are just about to being to build a music room but outdoors, Been harping on for a while now about either going for steel shed or wood, and then reading so many horror stories of warping guitar necks and destroyed electronics, but just after last night's gig I got chatting with the manager and telling him of my idea for my back garden, getting all gear computers and band equipment my ketron keyboard and korg all out into a back shed, but now that's all gone out the window due to condensation dampness within a shed, he said not at all advising to go with a steel shed and make sure it's well insulated and you will be fine, now that you have been advised, do you think I would be safe by doing as I'm told here, the gear I have is extremely expensive, the van is completely insulated and carpeted, the house is full of gear which some members of the household are not happy about, don't complain but I think honestly not fair, so a nice size music room out in the back of the house would be the answer here, what I'm curious about is the sheets of wood you have up for the walls and what's behind them, , great idea yes to be able to hang up anything you want anywhere, but then on top of the wood, did you say your adding plasterboard, and what really caught my attention was the air intake and outtake, would you advise me to ensure I have this done to my shed, or am I completely wasting my time and money here, I have lost many nights of sleep and practice over this project I'm about to begin, I hope you can give me some of your knowledge here, thanks

Hi Martin.. OK, this is what I've done as regards building my own outside studio. 1 thing I'll say before I go on, is that this was expensive, as I took advise from other who had done the same and I try to cover all angles as I have a serious amount of music hardware. 1st.. foundation: I put down concrete slab, with a damp course layer and a radon barrier. 2nd Walls.... in order of layers from outside in.... ship lap timber, then felt, 1 inch air gap, layer of foil padded insulation ( reflect hear out and keep heat in) wooden stud walls filled with double sided 10cm foil insulation slabs, air tight membrane layer, 1 inch air gap, chip board and finally plaster board. So 7 layers in all and 2 air gaps. All this to cover insulation, refracting heat out, air tightness, stop damp and sound proofing. There are 2 vents above the ceiling to allow the roof to breath, 2 vents within the studio to combat damp & condensation and have the option to install fans if needs be and 3 sub floor vents to all the wooden floor to breath. Roof is steel cladding, then felt later, then air gap filling with insulation wool then plaster board. Window is double glazed and thick PVC door. It might be overkill in some areas but I'm taking no chances. I had an excellent builder who really knew his stuff and was brilliant. Finally security.... wireless motion sensor and a wireless smoke & co2 all linked to my phone. alarm Hope this helps...
