I'm a dumb dumb poopy pants - I feel like I should have emphasised more in this video: these cost a£800, lol. (€850.00 / $900.00 +Free worldwide shipping) I'm so sorry! I was just excited and got carried away!
Do the indices actually seem like their floating? I'm really considering buying one. I'll have to go online the second it opens up. Great video! really enjoyed it
Tacking onto this to give props to the Strap Tailor. I must have purchased ten of their straps by now and their quality is excellent (as is their service). This is a great combination and tbh has convinced me to get get myself on the list for the Stephany Blue when they become available.
I'm a new subscriber, but I just want to say how much I like your style. Love the watch as well, as I usually do Studio Underdog watches. That dial is just absolutely genius, that sapphire on top of the luminescent dial...it sort of gives it an enamel look and takes the watch almost to a dressy level. Well done! One question though: shouldn't we be referring to the company as Studio Upper-dog by now, after so many homerun designs and watches? Just a silly thought...
This is poor timing given my new field watch obsession. Lume dials are awesome. I have a lume dial dive watch (the square Citizen titanium chunker) and they’re great. Maybe there is space for 2 lume dials in my life.
Love the inspiration of these watches obvs! Not as fun looking as some were hoping but Great lume dial! And a Swiss movement certainly costs more than a Chinese one!;)
800 seems a bit steep for me. The point of microbrands is that they're supposed to bring 'luxury' watches to the masses, at this price their a bit out my price range I think.
@@BrittPearceWatches I'm sure that they have a good reason for charging what they do but It's above my watch purchase comfort level. Don't ask me what I've spent on camera equipment though!🙂
Britt, your personality shines through in this episode and watching you put a smile on my face (I am stuck at home recovering from a foot injury). I like Studio Underdog (especially the Watermelon chrono). These field watches look good, and the fully lumed dials, excellent straps and Swiss movements are all pluses. Not a huge fan of the two exposed screws holding the dials together. Cheers!
WW II in 1945 was almost finished…… so I have doubts the ministry of defence has called to make these watches for WW II….May be for other missions or tasks
Love these new watches! But not a fan of the tricky highly limited Ming style of selling them. I love Ming watches too, but they’re nigh impossible to get hold of new. Making them elitist…as in for the very few, and that’s not FairPlay in my book.
Studio Underdog is much more interesting to me than yet another video ode to the Rolex Batgirl. Studio Underdog represents the new crop of microbrands which have been spawned by industrial designers instead of watchmakers and which likely may become more consequential over the course of time as they develop not just a following but a progressively higher level of horological value. A 37mm diameter watch with a Sellita movement, a quality strap and an interesting aesthetic for $1,000 USD is definitely attractive. The term fashion watch is regarded as a pejorative but that is just what these industrial designed watches are: thoughtful fashion watches at a price point that allows one to have more than one watch. The purchasing calculus will not be based on horological values but rather what watch or type of watch goes with mostly casual male and females wardrobes. This is being written with a grand feu enameled dialed watch on my wrist which is appropriate for what I have to do today and where I am going but most days a playful Studio Underdog reference or a less playful Unimatic reference would work just fine with my post-industrial egalitarian wardrobe based heavily on denim. As the bubble economy bursts, there will likely be new paradigms of consumption that will not be kindly to mass retailers of luxury goods who depend upon multiple purchases by the same consumer. The Swiss watch industry has done great selling more expensive watches to people who already have expensive watches. If the bubble bursts, the number of watches sold and the average price of the watches sold will in all probability trend downward. As the Swiss industry declines, the new progressives of well designed egalitarian horology like Studio Underdog and Unimatic are going to do better and better even in places like Regent Street.
@@BrittPearceWatches With all due respect…….Unless you, Watch Papi, and Aitch have put your money where your mouths are, I fail to see how either of you have the right to say that 🤷🏻♂️
@@alfieakaronaldog No. I own neither a Studio Underdog nor a Unimatic but I have purchased a custom dialed Arcanaut which is at a higher price point and which should be received in another few weeks.
I’d never wear them, but I totally love them. I subscribe to Adrian’s Captain Boring Newsletter, so I’m forbidden to indulge in such frivolity according to the mission statement of the Boring Club.
People love to moan - too expensive, too small, dont like the pins, too ordinary. Enough already - buy another watch !!! If I had a little spare wedge, I'd snap one up. Love the sandwich dial, love the lime, love the co.ours, love the size love the jellyfish
I'm not familiar with this watch brand, however I do have one of the Strap Tailor's No Time To Die Premium Ribbed Natos and it's the best quality Nato strap I own.
Feels like a fairly underwhelming watch. The dial is nothing special, the case design is very basic and the only point of difference is the full dial lume that makes it feel like a kids watch. They're not for everyone, I know, but to put a high end swiss movement in a watch like this makes it more of a spec to cost consideration rather than a nice watch with the bonus of cool specs.
Britt I really like yours videos, but you should really said that this is a paid review on your videos. This is a Brands that no one knows and out of a blue all the RU-vidrs review a boring expensive watch with such a passion. No cool.
They look lovely, thanks Britt. My main reservation is the combination of hand-wound movement and a screw-down crown.....not usually a match made in heaven...
@@RunawayYe I'm really tempted by the California dial...did a bit of research on the m100 movement, and it seems good. But, it's currently just on pre-order. How about you?
I really like the Steffany blue, but they are too expensive. I need to add more than a hundred for VAT to get it on Spain... a pitty. But the idea is amazing and the result a really beautiful piece.
I wish I hadn't seen this....now I feel like I NEED one! Studio Underd0g have absolutely nailed this...love the vintage/modern look and a field watch is always a win anyways! Wasn't expecting the price to be as high as that but can understand given the work gone into the watch. What happens if you miss the 9 hour slot, is the only other way to get them from the gray market then?
Such a nice watch!! But i'm really unsure whether i should pay 850 Euro PLUS nearly 300 for a microbrand watch...Yeah i know, this is not a random microbrand and above all not any random design/fabrication. But 1150 (1128 i calculated) Euros are still a lot.
The dials are super cool. Is it just me, or is the watch just a little bit too thick? I wonder if all the layers and the sapphire to make the markers "float", which makes for the cool dial, makes the watch a bit too thick? Maybe in person it wouldn't seem that way.
I am a proud owner of the Mint Choc Chip Chrono from Studio Underd0g. I love that they are now doing a field watch I just wish it was a bit larger. That wonderful midnight model (that green strap is sooooo good) would look like a kids watch on my 7.25" (18+ cm) wrist, 38mm case size is my cut off. But I understand trying to maximize appeal with a single case size. Great new addition to their line up. I wish Studio Underd0g nothing but continued success.
Auntie Britt!! Great video about an awesome product. Make me wonder what the 03 Series will be? And wow, you blew by 95K subs and are killing it. 100K so soon!! Long Live the Cult(s) and 4:30 date windows!!
I love the lume. I can't say I like or dislike them, I'm on the fence, they are great value and Underd0g has already established itself. One thing I do know is in the last 2 weeks we have been inundated with field watch articles, "The Dirty Dozen" etc and also 'California' dials, just today 2 new watches with 'California' dials and I think 3 or 4 in the last week or so. It's almost like the watch industry / media is trying to push us towards these....🤔
Oh damn, at first I was like there’s no way the jellyfish makes any sense on the case back, but then the designer explained it and totally made sense 😂
I've also found myself to be leaning towards closed casebacks recently. Maybe it's just that they are thinner and mean a better wearing experience. Or maybe that my auto watches are all seiko 5s and they don't have the best decorated movements so I'd just rather have a thinner, closed one rather than a thicker, display caseback.
Funny enough, or not to my eye they kinda look more like German navy WW2 issued watches(made by Alpina and others), especially the pale dials. The lume is brilliant. 😄 The dial construction is very fancy. Nice watches, especially for the money. 👍
It does look a bit better on hubs' larger wrist, but I have a hard time believing any latter day member of the Dirty Dozen would be sporting shocking pink sweats....
There's always has to be one negative muppet. It's quite simple actually don't buy it. If you cannot afford to watch that is one thing, but to come across insulting because they have chosen their price, is something entirely different.
@@vvvhhhhhbb Normally i wouldn't bother about an answer to such an old comment, but I amazed at how stupid this take is. Literally amazed. Free market is also free criticism. Who tf are you defending lmao
Lorenzo I get your point, but the same concept you are trying to apply to Studio Underdog could be applied to other brands you actually like… like Patek Philippe, AP Richard Mille etc etc. I do understand the difference between UD and the brands I mentioned but the fact is that the brands I mention it’s profit margins is extremely extremely high
Price & how to buy: Okay, 1st of November and they are available for what amount of money? 🤔😂 Good you pinned your comment, Britt! 😉 Best wishes, Claus
Importing from a non EU Country sucks as well. 21 procent extra on VAT plus an extra customs fee. I like the blue one but I am no fan of Selitta movements.
When I saw the jellyfish being teased I was just certain this was going to be a dive watch and I love dive watches. When it turned out to be a field watch I was just confused but actually I love the explanation of the see-through dial with ‘bio-luminescent’ backing. I also love decorated closed case backs. The gradient dial looks ace. The size is up my street. I already have a lot of watches so I ought to resist. That said I think it’s really well executed
Right!?!? I was exactly the same! I thought "HUH?!" But you're right - it is a lovely explaination... But hey, I'd be appeased even if Richard just said "look. Britt. It's just cool" hehe!
"I just think they're romantic and oldy-worldy." Hey! I'M romantic and oldy-worldy! (or rather, just old.😳) This suits me. I may have to get one as a general purpose bum-around watch. With STYLE! I like it. "Steffany Blue" looks cute! But perhaps the white for me. ⌚😎🥃
Proud owner of a Waterme0n, Mint Ch0c Chip and awaiting delivery of a Panda and a Desert Sky! And I was able to pre-0rder a Pink Lem0nade at Wind Up last weekend!!
