You have a great collection of music and books. Thank you for sharing the Who materials. Too often on RU-vid channels about classic rock, there doesn't seem to be much discussion about the Who, and that's a shame. They were really great, and I appreciate you talking about them.

Hi there, Andrew. Great video on a great haul indeed. I get where you are coming from when it comes to Pink Floyd, although I absolutely love Animals from 77( the follow-up to Wish You Were Here), The Wall and even The Final Cut from 1983, an album much maligned to say the least:) Hell, I think I honestly love every Pink Floyd incarnation and albums. As for The Sound Of Music, we all have our 'guilty pleasures' or things we ' shouldn't love' but still do. Mine would be ABBA, who I love to bits. Anyway, take care and keep the great stuff flowing! :)

I preordered BOTR because I’d like to have the album on CD. I have the vinyl and two discs from Paul’s archive collection of the album. I found it at a store, secondhand without the actual album, but at a reduced price. I came across a Who Sell Out 💿 with extra tracks and like the friend you mentioned, I don’t think it’s quite up to par with the albums surrounding it, but it’s still an enjoyable listen. I would like a Who’s Next box, as well, but it is a bit pricey, so I’m content with the vinyl and ‘95 💿 with outtakes and streaming the box. My dad listened to the Beatles and the Who when I was a kid, so both bands are in my DNA.

Great update. On a side note, I remember buying many Don Williams greatest hits cd's in the early '90's as there wasn't a cd availble of one his best albums called 'Images'. I think it was one of those K-tel releases and they used to shorten some of the tracks so they could fit 20 tunes on an album. One of my favourite songs is called 'Amanda' and each version I listened to, had an annoyng whistle during the second chorus that last for around 20 seconds. Ran over.

Thanks for sharing all this stuff Andrew, some of it I will have to look out for, you've piqued my interest with Public service Broadcasting, gotta give them a listen. I picked up that 2016 re issue of Wish You Were Here, last summer at a record fair, get's played a lot, what I will say is you have to give The Division Bell a listen, I love that Floyd album. Sound Of Music, the album that was knocked off the top spot by Pepper in '67 and then was the album that knocked Pepper back off the No 1 spot later in the year. I too love that album, I have my late parents copy of that album. (I inherited their record collection when we had to clear the house, lot's of jazz, classical, lot of 70's pop and some Beatles albums that were my mum's) Don't know if you're into it but Peter Gabriel's new album 1/0 is well worth investing in, been listening to that a lot recently. Any how many thanks for the video, looking forward to the release of BOTR in feb, lot's to look forward to...

The Who Sell Out is my favorite Who album. The faux radio station jingles are a creative way to link the tracks. "I Can See for Miles" is one of the finest singles of the 1960s by anyone. The bonus tracks are one of the few times that such tracks actually enhance the album. You definitely need to pounce on that Who's Next box set. The session outtakes and Lifehouse demos are superb and the concerts are prime live Who.

Nice to see your recent acquisitions. You did well with the Beach Boys set. I paid around £110 when it first appeared. It is a very nice set though. I don't think I had noticed the Dark Side live CD, but I assume that it is the same recording that was included in the Immersion set? Dark Side of the Moon is of course a milestone recording but I think, personally, that Wish You Were Here is perhaps a better album. Animals is also a great album. I remember this coming out when I was at school and we all had to do a little music presentation in assembly. I used Welcome To The Machine! I must admit though that, in spite of lots of attempts down the years, I have never warmed to The Wall and after that the magic of the band faded somewhat. That said, they had a very good run!

I also got that Beach Boys box set deal. I love the "Holland" album, but I think "Carl And The Passions - So Tough" could've been so much better. There were a lot better songs lying around that could have taken the so-so song's places. I was happy to finally get one of my favorite Beach Boys outtakes, "We Got Love", left over from "Holland" on CD. The other "Holland" outtakes are pretty good as well. I think some of the lesser "Holland" songs could have been replaced by some of these outtakes. "We Got Love" was left off at the last minute for "Sail On, Sailor". So it could be the "hit single", which it wasn't. Though, it is a great Beach Boys song. "The Trader" is my favorite song from "Holland". I also love the Carnegie Hall 1972 live sets. The bonus live tracks are pretty good as well. But, I think "Sail On, Sailor" could have been better. I would've used a 1973 live version, not one from 1975. I think the session tracks are a little disappointing, compared to earlier Beach Boys' sessions releases. Still worth it, for the cheaper price I paid.

Hi Andrew . If you like the Lemon Twigs then you might like these two artists. One of their influences of course..Todd Rundgren. You may be familiar with some of his work. His career has covered many styles but for his pop stuff you can’t go wrong with the album Something/Anything. His group Utopia also did a Beatles pastiche in 1980 called Deface The Music which is actually a great album aside from the Beatles style and definitely worth checking out. The other artist is less known but revered in power pop circles. Another New Yorker, Richard X Heyman. A superb songwriter and one man band. You can’t go wrong with any of his albums but if you’re unfamiliar with him you might as well start with his first two Living Room and Hey Man.

Hi Andrew. Nice to see you have bought The Who Sell Out on vinyl and CD but perhaps you should try and get the Super Deluxe edition as well as the Classic Albums video which can be found om Sky Arts. I bought the 10 CD Who's Next for £260 and I can't believe you didn't buy it when it was £130 !!! I was so angry to see it at that price I nearly bought it again !! I mean I bought Who's Next on vinyl in the late 70s, then on CD in the mid to late 80s, the remastered and expanded version in the 90s, the deluxe double CD in the 00s and the Super Deluxe Edition for the 5th time last year (as I have also done for My Generation, The Who Sell Out, Tommy, Live At Leeds and Quadrophenia !!!). Enjoy anyway ! Cheers Tim

The Super Deluxe Who's Next was down to £109 an hour ago and then back up to £190 a few minutes later. I expect I will pounce on it soon!

And wow Andrew i have the original sound of music vinyl album with the booklet and everything and can't remember if it's mono or stereo but I'll have to dig it out and give it a spin and i had no idea they had gone back and released all that extra stuff. It is a quality soundtrack. And can i ask you a question Andrew? Hot do you solve a problem like Maria?

Hi, The Kenneth Womack Living The Beatles Legend is a great read. You mentioned no more TDSOTM by Pink Floyd for you. It's the same over here with me. Pink Floyd's WYWH is top notch. The Who Sell Out is quite enjoyable. But The Beach Boys....... Nahhhh Enjoy reading and listening. Take care

THink Tank, yep, I agree, but Leisure? Really? She's So High, THere's No Other Way, Bang, Slow Down, and Come Together? :) Band on the run live stream would be good. Looking forward to the undermixed/dubbed versions!! Thanks.

Agree there's a few great songs on Leisure (I think Sing is on there also?) But there's just a bit too much on there that I'm not bothered about that means I'm not likely to listen to the whole album often.

What's the download service you used Andrew? I can't pick up the name by listening and captions say you're saying "Cobo" but that yields no search results. Thanks. Thanks also for the tip off re: Floyd at Wembley - I've ordered the vinyl (via your link so that might bring the Who's Next box a bit closer for you😂.

Hi Andrew, just curious about Pink Floyd's Animals- you said Wish you were here was your jumping off point and you're not a big fan or The Wall either. How about Animals? They did a remix of it in 2018 and I think it's pretty good. Just curious on your thoughts.....take care!

Thanks! I've followed some of Gorillaz, Good Bad and The Queen etc. but there's plenty of it I don't know. I've followed Graham Coxon's solo career much more closely, I've probably listened to him as often as I've listened to Blur over the last 20 years.

I believe you are right! Pride was their big hit at the time so the rest of the band were fuming that they didn't get chance to play it.

Same with me. After Wish You Were Here nothing from Pink Floyd hooked me. I tried, but no. I bought The Wall and Animals, but no. And I even dislike The Wall. Why? Because I'm a teacher! Musicians, actors, artists etc is not good in politics. They don't understand the reality. They are living in a dreamworld. Yes, I'm a musician as well. Not only a music teacher ...

Reminds me of what Ricky Gervais said to a room full of Hollywood A Listers at the Golden Globes "None of you are in a position to lecture anyone about anything. Most of you spent less time at school than Greta Thunberg" 😄👍

I've been lambasted before for not "getting" 'Animals' but I agree with you that, post-WYWH nothing sparked like it did before. I've even defaulted to Atom Heart Mother being my favourite Floyd album, an opinion that garners mixed reactions!

@@AndrewDixonMusic Very true!👍And in the case of Greta Thunberg, it's extra embarrissing for me. I'm also from Sweden ... She's a problematic lunatic, religious on climate and now she's also came out as an antisemite. Not good! Thanks for your videos. Always interesting to listen.👍
