I wouldn't do the minimum turn around for car seat. They actually recommend them till 2. If you look up there is something with their bones not fusing till they are 3-4. They are so much safer rear facing.
Commenting here as well so hopefully they see this. American Academy of Pediatrics recommends age 2 but preferably maxing out the rear facing capabilities of a carseat.
I didn’t want to be the only one commenting about this either but yes, they should be rear facing until at least 2 years. I understand Jackson is big for his age, so he may already be around the maximum for rear facing - however it’s still recommended that they’re rear facing until two. In fact, here in Maine it’s mandatory.
Y'all are so patient to answer every, 'what's this?' If you'll prompt him to repeat your answer every time, he will make that breakthrough in speach. Answer him, 'That's a rock. RrrrawK. Jackson, say rock. Rock.' Also, when he is prompting you verbally for action, make sure to ask him to say please and use the please sign language, too. Once he uses the word please or even the sign consistently, have him combine it - 'please bite' or 'please phone' etc. He has an excellent grasp of language, evidenced in his following directions well. Sorry to butt in. I have an early childhood Ed degree and we have a cleft lip and palate son (he's 20 now) who required speech therapy as an infant. I was also a nanny for many babies through my life. Breaking through to language is always so exciting!
Please, please wait as long as possible before switching Jackson to forward facing. We all care so much about your sweet little boy! Please look at all the benefits for extended rear facing! ❤️ much love from South Dakota!
Been waiting forever to turn our 3.5 year old daughter’s carseat forward, but CDC guidelines and just about everything we’ve read recommends keeping them rear-facing until 4 years old, with our car seat recommending 4/40 lbs, whichever comes first. She’s tall, but her legs hang out of the side and she never complains about being uncomfortable. Research shows that in a collision it’s much safer that way. But you gotta do what works best for your family.
Branston Pickle is the top brand name for ‘sweet pickle’ or ‘ploughman’s pickle’. The name Branston comes from a village in England where the recipe originates. It’s great with cheese or with pork pie or cold meats like ham (not commercial prepacked stuff).
@@deanobrown2006, I’ve usually observed sandwich pickle is the more finely chopped version (I think Branston brought out a sandwich version in this way).
I never thought we would see Tim get excited about a hose again, lol. Flashback to when your neighbor ran a hose from your house to steal your water. They were house crashing ( your old neighborhood).
The greatest comedy I accidentally did was asking an Australian friend visiting Florida if she had biscuits and gravy yet. The look of horror on her face was priceless. I was talking about American southern biscuits and sausage gravy. She was picturing cookies covered with brown gravy. Yes, the differences can be alarming or funny.
Pediatric nurse here. I’m so happy to see that you talked to your doctor about turning Jackson’s car seat- pediatricians are great resources for us!!! I do want to encourage you to do your own research on when to end rear facing. I’ve seen too many things to keep quiet about this one. Safe in the seat on Instagram has a ton of great info in her highlights!!! Also, Jackson definitely said “I really like this” while y’all were eating your bowls and talking about him starting to talk. 😂 smart smart boy!!
As a Brit, honestly laughing my head off when we worked out it was Bovril 🥰 love Branson’s Pickle too Regarding waving at Jackson, I mean, who wouldn’t wave back.... he’s adorable
Really really hope you guys turn his seat back around, there’s somethings you can mess around with when it comes to your kid but car safety shouldn’t be one. In a third of US states it’s actually the law that they have to be rear facing until at least the age of two, and even then you should keep them rear facing for as long as possible. Car accidents can happen at any moment and you shouldn’t take any risks with Jackson, especially in a state like Florida and area like Orlando where we have so many dangerous roads.
Hi guys, when my daughter was Jackson's age, when she wanted something, i made her say what she wanted, so she would point at what she wanted, i would tell her what it is, then i would say "now you say it", i would wait to give it to her when she said it. she would then start saying what she wanted by name. I think if you just give him what he wants without having him say the actual word, you are not giving him any other way to ask for it, so he will just say "this" because it works every time, so he doest have to use other words and he isnt learning to ask for things by their name. This helped my daughter advance a lot. This was my experience. Love you guys!
@@anniemcdougal2249 every new parent needs advice. It takes a village. This lady isn’t being malicious, she’s trying to help. I’m sure no one is offended by advice from someone who has been there.
I think it’s a good point. It’s also a weird time because no ones been able to spend a ton of time with other babies or friends with babies to learn from. It was a friend of mine who told me to check out early intervention when my 10 month old wasn’t crawling. So advice can be helpful. I think they could try early intervention if he isn’t saying more words soon. Although it seems normal these days. My friend’s son is a little older and not speaking at all. My 18 month old says 100s of words (but didn’t walk til a few weeks ago lol) but I think he should be working on more words and EI could help
At 1:41 - I do believe Jackson said, “I like this.” 🙂🙂🙂 Sorry if my comment is a repeat- in my excitement- I made my comment and then read through other comments. 😂
My grandson, who will be four this summer, really started to speak at Jackson's age. Teddy seemed to want to speak from only 6 months old! It's wonderful to listen to them when they start to speak. And then, it seemed that he was eager to speak and learned words quickly. We really enjoy your family blogs!
Tim and Jen, just so you know it’s 5 times safer to keep children rear facing than it is front facing! My son only just went forward facing at 4.5 years old. It’s much more safer for heir neck and back.
Pro tip from a nail tech: just get a ring light with a holder to record while you're cooking. I use it all the time and it's legit the easiest way to record and use your hands. It's also very flexible and can move more than a gimble. Just throwing out some options.
Jen, don’t ever apologize to us if you can’t show us anything! It’s totally fine and we know it’s hectic now that you have a 1 year old. The vlogs are amazing no matter what you show us. Love you guys!
That car seat deal makes me think my parents must have loved that they just put me in a basket with 2 handles (metal and vinyl version of Moses basket) and tossed me on the back seat of their rambler and took off down the road. (Seatbelts? Where we're going we don't need seatbelts!) I have memories of an older me (around 4) laying on my belly on the backseat of their Chevy throwing crayons and toys into a hole that had rusted out in the floorboard. Good times laying there watching the glittery road underneath as we rode over. We didn't have a sunroof we had a roadfloor!
Such a fun outdoor water park! The little buckets you have from Disney are also fun to include with the sprinklers and hoses. Kids often enjoy catching the water and dumping it out.
Definitely heard Jackson say "I like this." Sooo cute!! Please research rear facing him in the car seat for a longer period of time. Recommendations have changed.
Please keep Jackson rear facing until 2 at the very least. Pediatricians aren’t very well informed about car seats and he’s actually going against AAP recommendations but suggesting forward facing now. AAP suggest maxing out the rear facing limits, with a minimum of 2 years
Looove this- had Branston Pickle in a London pub as part of a ‘Ploughman’s Lunch’. Best cheddar cheese I ever ate BTW and the pickle was a revelation. Available at my local Wegman’s until Covid- I order it on-line now.
Great video Tim and Jen as always!! Jackson is so super cute! His smile and giggles remind me of the Tellitubbie Sun Baby! Target is such a fantastic store! I wish the UK had them?! Thank you guys for sharing your life and times with us ! You are Amazing people!!!💖💖💖👏👏👏🇬🇧🇺🇲
it really is endearing how you guys go above and beyond for little jackson! i hope to be able to do that if if i am ever blessed with kids. (that backyard waterpark sounds like a kiddo’s summer dream hehe)
I love all the clothes you got! The ones for Jackson are so adorable!!! He's gonna be the coolest kid in Florida ;-) (well he already is, but EVEN MORE cooler! :-) ) Jen, can I just say: you look so beautiful. You look happy and healthy and I love the blonde hair. Yeah girl! :-)
There’s nothing more fun than watching Jen in the kitchen. It’s a hoot and a delight watching you cook. Don’t forget to show us next time please I’m not able to cook anymore and so I love watching you make wonderful meals for Tim and Jackson 👍👍😁💕
I had my first Tim Tracker encounter yesterday at Disney Springs. I was behind you in line to get watermelon dole whip and was explaining who you were to my sister while at the same time you told my wife that they were out of rinds as you walked away. Ok, that’s my story.
Jackson is really starting to laugh and trying to talk like a big boy, so exciting. I'm excited for him to be able to face front and see knew exciting things. Jen I definitely remember the Skorts. Nice Target haul. I was thinking the same thing..kiddie waterpark. Thank you for sharing 🌺 GOD BLESS
Can I just advice you not to put the pools so close to the edging where you have the stones. All they have to do is stumble and they will go into it. You should have the pools more in the middle of the lawn, There is no danger of them actually hitting the edge if they fall down. It’s just that I noted it the last time that you had the pool out.
I’m going to be that person but it’s recommended to rear face until he’s atleast 4yo! Definitely not under 2!! Just want him to be 100% safe and rear facing is the safest!
My kids are ollder so a lot has changed but at 3 or 4, if rear facing, what happens to their legs. It seems.like they'd be bent oddly and uncomfortable.
@@debbiep664 they’re not. The car seat is Made for them to be in it rear facing until max 40 lbs AND 33inches. Jackson is not 40 lbs, I can guarantee it. It’s actually illegal in their state for them to be front facing under 2 years old
@iaml , ALWAYS be that person and save children’s lives who died in wrecks and didn’t have to had the parents known and supported the right way to have them.
I don’t usually leave comments, but please reconsider putting Jackson rear facing. Obviously look it up and educate yourselves before making any decisions, but Jackson’s spine is not developed enough to take the impact of an accident while forward facing and it could cause severe injury. Many people will tell you “but we did it and our kid was fine”… but there are many who did it and their kid wasn’t fine as well. Don’t want to be a car seat snob, but a baby’s safety is always number one.
Branston Pickle yum ! Great mixed in with grated cheese grated carrot some mango chutney and the pickle of course served in granary bread , best sandwich ever !!
I can’t believe how big Jackson is getting :( I’ve been watching you guys for 5 years!! Now I have a 5 month old who loves watching your videos every morning with me.
Branston Pickle is just a relish you put on a cheese sandwich, or any sandwich but there are way nicer pickles and relishes than that, it’s just been around for years. Bovril is mainly used as a beef broth drink and its Marmite that we usually put on sandwiches. We have a saying that if something is like Marmite, because you either love it or hate it. It’s very strong but just a bit of it on hot toast wit butter is delicious!
For car seat safety please see a CPST to get there professional recommendation about Jackson's car seat. CPST's are trained in car seat safety and in how to put a car seat correctly in your car and also when to turn your child around. I love Jackson and wouldn't want him to be injured in any way.
Many pediatricians and nurses are unfortunately NOT up-to-date on the most current and safest car seat information. Please, please consider joining a Car Seat Safety group on Facebook and look at a handful of posts about Forward Facing too early. Childrens’ bones aren’t fully developed until closer to age 4.
Bovril is a yeast extract that usually is mixed with boiling water to make a hot drink, it’s a big thing at football (soccer) matches, I’ve never heard anyone putting it on a sandwich. Pickle over here is anything that has been preserved with vinegar.
What's cooler than a guy with 2 hoses..... A guy with 2 hoses and 2 splitters!!! 😉lol😆 love watching your adventures and Jackson is the cutest and well mannered little guy.💖
I'm with Tim...Hoses for the win!! I just got a new hose from Amazon that shrinks when all the water drains out. I've washed down cars, yard and decks so far :)
I find the Tracker Target Adventures hilarious because when you show your haul, half the stuff are items in our house. I love the little kids clothes at Target, and my 3.5 yr old son practically lives in the pajamas from Target.
The thing with the onions and the carrots that goes with cheese is Brandon Pickle and it's delicious in a sandwich. You should look up what a Ploughman's Lunch is and try to make one. Love hearing Jackson start to talk - so cute!
Marmite is another popular British sandwich spread. It's a yeast extract, similar in concept to Australian Vegemite but has a different flavour and texture.
